An emblem that gives me double planeswalker activations? Sweet!
It might be harder to get to that emblem than one would expect, though, since you're incentivizing a lot of creatures to go at Rowan.
Do we know if these two are fraternal twins, or a married couple, or what? I feel like they're the former, but that raises some questions about planeswalker sparks.
The problem with defining this format by what is "fun" is that everyone seems to define fun as what they don't lose to. If you keep losing to easily answered cards, that means you should improve your deck. If you don't want to improve your deck, then you should come to peace with the idea that you are going to lose because you chose to not interact with better strategies.

Both. Their blond hair is obviously meant to invoke House Lannister. After all they are also Siblings of Ice and Fire.
Pretty generic. I really dislike that they went with the name Will.
That said, I hope they have a surprisingly dark backstory of only one of the ascending at first and then pulling one of those genocidal schemes to harvest the spark of a planeswalker like Memnarch tried - just successfully.
Or make them as boring as befits a "Will".
The design of the pair is nice enough in its symmetry and with a slight synergy. Not overwhelmingly effective. And surprisingly little evocative cryomancer flavor on Will's abilities.
But it's blonde planeswalkers, so that's a tick off the checlist, if nothing else.

I'm going with twins because of the doubling the emblems does and if they are husband and wife well....thats really cartoon trophy even for wizards or they are really narcissistic.
And yes the spark is *one in million* for someone to get, yes the chances of twins both having a spark and both sparking is low, but its possible and creative will muddle the rules if they want to make a type of character.

"Will"? That's weird, it's been a long time since they had real-world names on cards. I guess when the revisited characters like Hanna and Gerrard, they remembered they did that? But still, those are kind of unusual names. There's also that M19 common that's named Margaret in the flavor text.
As for the cards, well damn, seems pretty impossible to win if your opponents manage to cast both on the same turn.
In b4 old Vorthos saying that the chance of sibling being walkers is basically 0...
Right now they print so many planeswalkers, they could just make an entire plane full of planeswalkers just for the sake of it.
----
The blue one seems to be pretty solid as it is, the -2 alone could justify it, but the +2 is also not bad at all, as a control deck with mass removal can use it really well.
The red , well probably not, just doesnt do anything, even if you get it "for free" seems just like a burden.

they're identical twins, one of them is trans/intersex. I'm guessing Will, he seems a little, let's say, top-heavy? =p
before someone yells, I'm not being super serious. I'm also trans myself, so I hope it's obvious I'm not being disrespectful.

Honestly I’m more annoyed, that they are humans again, we have a new creature type Azra (they look a bit like tieflings to be honest) which we may never see again, like the Khenras from Amonkhet. Wizards always fails to give those special species a planeswalker card when we visit their world, honestly Samut and Djeru as Khenras would have been so much better.
Still I like those two, at least Will looks a bit like a cryomancer with the sword.

Even the lowest odds against infinity are a sure thing. Anyways, I don't know how powerful they will be (I suspect decently) but the nature of their design alone makes them the most interesting Izzet commander(s) to me.

What? They use real world names all the time. The only primary member of the gatewatch who's name isn't a real world one is Nissa.
They're...okay. They feel a bit on the weak side, but I suppose that's because they can be commanders. It's too bad that because of them, though, we probably won't get any more planeswalkers in the set (and unfortunately, I highly doubt they'll show up outside of this set). Also, Rowan's +2 is terrible.
Oh boy the "wotc is a sjw company" peanut gallery is gonna have a ball with these.
Sweet jesus that -2 on Will (aka the Fresh Prince) is pretty sweet, honestly. And I feel like he's definitely the stronger of the two. That -2 and emblem put him a cut above.
My only realy problem with these cards is the name "Will". Its just kind of funny for such an extremely common real world name to show up on a magic card. When is "Chad, Lord of the Multiverse" coming out?

What? There have been plenty of real world names in every set. Perhaps not as boring as will (no offense to any Wills!) I guess one might not realize it since a lot of them come from non-american culture but yeah.

Do you really want Gideon to be Lord of the Multiverse?

Yeah, there are in fact plenty of Chandras and Gideons in the world. (Probably enough Lilianas too.) Will is maybe more... English than the usual, but it's still fantastical-sounding enough due to associations with Arthurian mythology and things like that to suspend disbelief.
I like the Mel(vin) appeal Rowan has alone. Her +2 and -2 have good synergy with each other, and her ult adds to the fun.
Will, though--his card looks too split Mel(vin)-wise. His +2 has neato synergy with Rowan, but his -2 and ult are on a completely different path...and neither of them synergize with his +2.

In my defense Will is a way more common and generic name than Gideon. It's on the same level as Bob, Bill, John, Steve, etc.
