Well, I'm glad to see the Doubling Season reprint, but it being mythic is sad. Hopefully this will at least pave the way to it getting reprinted in other supplementary sets?
And yeah, the Azra look neat. Hopefully, Kylem isn't the only plane that has them.
Looking at those lands, I'm starting to put the flavor of this set together. Is Battlebond just a giant arena with shifting terrain, a la Pokemon Stadium in Super Smash melee?
I really dislike the fact that the reprints weren't given appropriate flavortext and art for the the plane, this isn't a masters set, it has its own setting.

It was the same with Conspiracy. Dunno what you were expecting.
Of course Doubling Season had to be a mythic, lest it break a multiplayer environment in half
Funny, this is one environment where I'd suggest Primal Vigor instead. (I mean, besides whatever weird things you want to do with Suture Priest and Blood Seeker.)

Card advantage is not the same thing as card draw. Something for 2B cannot be strictly worse than something for BBB or 3BB. If you're taking out Swords to Plowshares for Plummet, you're a fool. Stop doing these things!
Doubling Season is a great reprint, and not real surprise it's mythic because of what they do to cards that have a decent monetary value. Rushblade Commander's art looks more like an instant/sorcery that grants haste than the creature itself, but maybe that's just me. More warrior tribal is always nice.
I am disappointed by the return of support. Not having the ability to put the counter on the creature with it, plus the way they costed the cards last time left a sour taste in my mouth. We'll see if support gets the support it needs but I'm not holding my breath.
Basic lands and Dwarf from the spotlight video for Assist.
I see Pokemon gym fields are part of basic lands now.
This set is like someone decided that combining Star Trek with Magic the Gathering was a good idea.

1. (Ravnica Allegiance): You can't keep a good esper control deck down... Or Wilderness Reclamation... or Gates...
2. (War of the Spark): Guys, I know what we need! We need a cycle of really idiotic flavor text victory cards! Jace's Triumph...
3. (War of the Spark): Lets make the format with control have even more control!

I'm not getting a Star Trek vibe, but rather like a a WoW arena vibe where people have crazy army and crazy hair colors.
Yeah, it's the clothes and aesthetics. The only reason I'm not saying WoW is because that would involve ridiculous football pauldrons to match. The concept of the whole arena game feels like it's a softies version of a mage dual where no one dies and mages are hitting one another with glorified pillows. Whether that is really the case or not doesn't matter, that's the kind of attitude I'm getting from the artwork. I don't think it's wrong, just it's not my thing and doesn't feel like Magic the Gathering.

I just noticed that Pir's Whim gets any land, not just basics. That changes things.
Two: you choose how it goes not the opponent so either 100% group hug or only you get to find any land and they have to sac a enchantment or artifact.
I already noticed that part. It's just that I was lukewarm on it when I thought it was just Rampant Growth stapled to a Tribute to the Wild (with some options for politics, of course). But being able to get nonbasics makes this much better, increasing the number of decks I want to run it in from 0 to 2-4.
Doubling Season is an excellent reprint. It would have been perfect at rare but alas...
Pir's Whim looks really strong for EDH.
Rushblade Commander is a strong card but the art looks like the old holo pokemon cards from before they gave them an actual background. Or a really cheesy art for the Flash.

no, I think they have learned, they learned they can make a rare into a mythic and put it into a set no one wants to buy and that will suddenly change it into a set people want to buy
Why reprint a card people want into a Masters set, a set people will buy already, when they can shove it in this and move more product? I'm sure we'll see at least one more chase mythic in this set before spoiler season is done
Love that doubling season actually gets a reprint after all this time.
But that is absolutely the worst art the card has ever had based on flavor. What about this is seasonal or growth/abundance based at all?
Well, looking at the art, I really think they chose to emphasize the DOUBLING part of it like the hydra version. The art is almost absolutely symmetrical.

Really? You must be joking right? A set no one wants to buy?! There are 37 cards spoiled as of this comment, and you make a judgement that no one wants to buy the set? Really?
And, what's more, is you're actually advocating a high price reprint that people have been calling for for years should be in the over priced and underwhelming Masters sets?
I give up trying to understand what people want from this game.

It's a sports arena. Playing sports have seasons. There are 2 ("double") statues at the entrance. I thought the picture was cute.
"Double your entertainment this year! Twice the competitors, twice the fun! All starting this season at Valor's Reach!"
And the friend or foe cycle will be great for commander. I've got an Isperia, Supreme Judge politics deck that'll especially love them.

bad news is it's definitely not going to get a drop like show and tell and berserk did when those were printed in conspiracy 2
Probably going to be around $30-$40 for this doubling season.

I'm still amazed we've yet to have another Phelddagrif since Planeshift.
