What a disappointing Announcement Day. Three sets on Ravnica is all we really learned. No info on an upcoming Masters set, no C18 info, just a tiny bit more info on Battlebond and the new Global Series product is just a reskinned PW deck. Pretty disappointed in the overhype in czlling it Announcement Day.
Three more sets on Ravnica seems a bit excessive tbh. I’m kinda worried.
Huh. Figured it would be Ravnica, but wasn't expecting a full three sets worth. So does this mean they're getting Ravnica fanatacism out of their blood and we can put this place to rest for a while? If they execute it right then maybe we'll see it again post-Bolas or post-Gatewatch shenanigans?
Should be interesting. SHOCKLANDS!
EDIT: Hmm, the second set is larger than the first (259 vs 264)
I love the seasonal depictions in the sets as per the art director. That's pretty cool.
Yeah, players will be expecting Shocklands in Ravnica: they were in both Ravnica blocks and they play very well with the checklands that we will keep after rotation, but don't forget some were also expecting Fetchlands in Battle for Zendikar! I wouldn't put it past WotC to throw and curveball here...
Shocklands we're born on ravnica and they are not to busted for standard so chance they should show up but not holding my breath.
That's why the fetch lands weren't printed they feel they are tool powerful.
It's not a question of Power level... unless they make the mistake of putting fetch-able lands in the same Standard. They don't want fetchlands in Standard because it leads to a lot of wasted time shuffling decks. And, in one of the slowest formats of Magic (after Commander), this means a lot of games going to time and draws.
Oh, and the price is too high. They don't say it, but they don't want valuable reprints in Standard anymore: they keep them for Masters sets.

I don't call $10-15 cards that only see play in EDH, or fringe modern play "valuable". They are only low supply cards. I hope we actually get some valuable reprints in Core 2019, cards that were in small summer sets, that often cannot be reprinted in most sets because their names are not plane-agnostic (or have rare keyword), that won't break Standard and that see a lot of Modern or Eternal play; cards like Kolaghan's Command, Collective Brutality, Engineered Explosives, Blackcleave Cliffs or Noble Hierarch.

Holy *****, yes so much. Thank the gods it wasn't Theros, I don't want another *****show when Dominaria started improving things by a fair margin.

So instead of making one block three expansions, they make three big expansions instead.
Does it mean weekly story will run smoother and less rushed?
Shu Yun, the Silent Tempest WUR Voltron Control
Temmet, Vizier of Naktamun WU Unblockable Mirror Trickery
Ra's al Ghul (Sidar Kondo) and Face-Down Ninjas
Brudiclad, Token Engineer
Vaevictis (VV2) the Dire Lantern
Rona, Disciple of Gix
Tiana the Auror
Hallar
Ulrich the Politician
Zur the Rebel
Scorpion, Locust, Scarab, Egyptian Gods
O-Kagachi, Mathas, Mairsil
"Non-Tribal" Tribal Generals, Eggs
Well that was lackluster for me because:
A. Ravinca was what most people were saying so people were kind of calling it!
B. We got no information on supplemental products, just the sets.
C. No early information on commander or anything.
As I said we should go back days before announcement day. I liked it when announcements were done one at a time and spaced out.
Should be interesting. SHOCKLANDS!

Your not going to beat me in this arguement
I suppose that's true if you are misunderstanding the argument in the first place (again) -- he was talking about fetchlands, not shocklands.
Carry on.
