Should've been all lands in play and in graveyards since the old Multani cared about everyone's hand size but the trample prevented that from being the sentence.
Finally a mythic rare card that deserves its rarity. Giant self-recurring monstrosity? Yes please. Reminds me of World Breaker if it traded its removal cast trigger for just being a huge beater.
idc about it even for EDH, but THAT is what I like seeing at Mythic! important character, Timmy effect, high mana cost, it's what Mythic should always have been.

Project Booster Fun makes it less fun to open a booster.
Might go into friend terevaune's Thrasios/Reyhan Duel Commander build. He generally has tons of lands out or in his grave...and yes, this is what a Mythic should be. Story relevant, powerful effect, fun to play.

The "Crazy One", playing casual magic and occasionally dipping his toes into regular play since 1994.
Currently focusing on Pre-Modern (Mono-Black Discard Control) and Modern (Azorious Control, Temur Rhinos).
Find me at the Wizard's Tower in Ottawa every second Saturday afternoons.
That article is severely depressing. Not only does Mark admit that Historic is only in because he literally couldn't think of anything else that would fit, it also reveals how he basically went behind his superior's back and convinced everyone to dogpile on him, because he couldn't fulfil the task assigned to him. It really is eye-opening, just not in the way they probably wanted.

That's a very negative way of looking at it. I looked at is as Historic was the only option because it made the most sense, not just because they couldn't come up with some other lame mechanic. Historic seems very interesting and I'm excited for it. If the set takes off and is as good and fun as it looks... then I think Mark did the right thing by having people back his decision to keep Historic around for Dominaria.
Historic is sweet and it can be evergreen; there will always be artifacts, legendary permanents, etc. You can tweak the knobs to make artifacts cheaper or more expensive based on goals, same for other permanents. I'm glad Mark went to bat for his mechanic, and I hope to see more of it going forward, maybe even in core sets.

While I don't disagree that historic should play well, I do question if it could be evergreen. Wouldn't that require Sagas to become evergreen, as well? It would feel really weird if cards in a set without Sagas referred to Sagas - wouldn't it?

Rosewater has always felt slimy to me. Most of the articles he writes are covered with comments patting himself on the back and calling out others’ negatively received ideas or incomplete ideas. It’s just really, really hard to ignore his ego.
On the card itself. It’s a cool card. So many character arts are more humanized today - this just follows suit for better or for worse.
Should have Hexproof instead of Reach and Trample.
Or hexproof and trample.
Card seems all right. Neat art, potentially a pretty decent-sized creature to stomp people with (though it's too bad that it's antisynergistic with mana creatures), and it can be recurred. It would go well with extra land drops (Azusa?) and self-mill.
In constructed ironically we have a all time high on exile removal, but otherwise this would be a real big threat.
But it still works good against pretty much any deck, being at least 5/5 with acceleration should be enough to not die to anything that isnt exile removal.
With hexproof this would be INSANE in standard and almost impossible to get rid of.
As it is, it could be like a 10/10 if you get it out with fetchlands and the like.
Thats decent, but its also 6 mana, which is quite a lot today and without hexproof or something to give it value, this has pretty much no chance to make the cut for any old format.

I could see there being at least one saga for every plane we've visited so far, even if it's the story arc that was told on the plane. The Kami War, Ugin's resurrections, etc.

The reminder text doesn't necessarily need to refer to Sagas. Check out the reminder text for card types - it is worded in a way that they can use a incomprehensive list and omit tribal without stating anything wrong. While I don't think historic will go that route (mostly because most sets won't necessarily want to use the term that way anyway), it's technically possible while staying consistent with the way things are already done these days.

Pretty much this - historic feels like a good candidate to be deciduous.
My only complaint is reach and trample. There's a mild antagonism between those two abilities that could be resolved by giving him vigilance.
Can't complain too much. It seems to have green's version of the Reassembling Skeleton ability, going to hand rather than battlefield. (Or maybe I should just call it the Vengevine ability, notice the synergy between the two?)
Tossing one-sided Terravore on top of the Dakkon Blackblade ability is a nice touch too. Fetchlands and things like Strip Mine can use it, as can the desert theme from Amonkhet.

Card advantage is not the same thing as card draw. Something for 2B cannot be strictly worse than something for BBB or 3BB. If you're taking out Swords to Plowshares for Plummet, you're a fool. Stop doing these things!
