Why would anyone complain about this being mythic? Let the good cards be rares and uncs, let cards like this be mythic. All the better.

My Commander decks:
Chandra, Torch of Defiance - Oops! All Chandras.
Prime Speaker Zegana - Draw for Power.
Pir & Toothy - Counterpalooza.
Arcades, the Strategist - Another Brick in the Wall.
Zacama, Primal Calamity - Calamity of Double Mana.
Edgar Markov - Vampires Don't Die.
Child of Alara - Dreamcrusher.
And as for the actual playability... Yeah for a mythic they could have given him more. Two 4/4 fliers for 7 is strong but on the front end he's going to be weak for as long as Glorybringer and Phoenix is in standard. Which I believe, in the case of the fire owl, is the entire time.

Please, please, pppplllleeeeaaaaasssseeee STOP asking for powerful mythic cards. Not just you Gutterstorm, but the community as a whole. Stop calling this a sh***y mythic and realize how much that kind of voice has negatively impacted the Standard and Modern environment from a financial perspective.

This is a wonderful mythic.
I didn't ask for it to be powerful. I simply said that relative to other stuff in standard it's not. On the other hand I may, if I'm feeling particularly pragmatic so as to not allow how goddamn ugly he is to affect my choice, give him Broodmate Dragon's spot in my Ur-Dragon deck. He's better early and easier to cast and big daddy Ur smooths out that 7th mana.
That said; Mythics should be powerful. Otherwise what's the point of them being Mythic. Having standard staples at both Rare and Mythic is fine. And there are ways to make things powerful without making them standard powerful. As for modern I'll point you to the mana bases full of rares. I'm on a budget too. I get it. But when I get lucky enough to crack a mythic I don't want it to be some crap that's going to sit in a binder forever. I want Mythics to be *opens pack* "I can do something with this!"
In the early game Phoenix is better, however in the mid to late game this is significantly better. Two bodies both with higher toughness. Vraska's Contempt is everywhere making this a better late game play in a midrange deck by a long shot.

You said that could have given the card more. The only logical conclusion to make from that is that you want it to be more powerful.
The person that cracks this from a pack can be excited. It’s a 4/4 flying dragon for 4. It can give you two dragons. It’s a cool card and someone that’s cracking the pack should think it’s neat. The further you dig into the card to understand their relevance in the story the cooler the card gets.
As far as this sitting in your binder goes...that’s your choice. The vast majority of mythics don’t become Modern or eternal staples (outside Commander) anyway. So, even if this were a mythic that could dominate standard, after that rotates it would sit in a binder anyway. Making it strong for standard doesn’t solve that problem for you for more than a few months. Also, if you’re really on a budget, cracking packs shouldn’t be your go-to behavior for acquiring cards in this game.
Now, Remove all of that argument - realize that Commander is THE most commonly played constructed format and then this card has big splashy value for any Commander player that wants to use it. Commander also tends to carry more weight in the flavor-department for it’s decks so the fact that this is a recognizable named dragon has more value there. See, it doesn’t have to be standard powerful for people to be excited about opening it. In fact, a smaller population would get excited about opening this mythic if it was focused on being powerful for standard.
Again, leave the Standard power out of the mythic slot - it’s not good for the game. Keep it up Wizards, you’re doing it right with this set.
MTGS Wikia Article about "New World Order"
Every time I read a comment about "Well if this card had card draw/trample/haste/indestructible/hexproof/life gain...", I think "You're missing the point." They're armchair developer comments that fail to take into account the card's role in the greater Limited and Standard environment. No, it may not be as good as whatever card you're comparing it to. There's a reason for that. Not every burn spell is Lightning Bolt, nor does it need to be or should be.
PSA to everyone who keeps forgetting about the Reserved List:
You're on a website dedicated to talking about MtG. You're only a few keystrokes away from finding out what cards are on the Reserved List. You're also only a few keystrokes away from finding out why some cards on the Reserved List got foil printings in FtV, as Judge promos, or whatnot, as well as why that won't happen again. Stop doing this.
Ah, didn't catch the spells requirement on her first ability. Oh, well. *fingersnap*
Buy hey, maybe Grand Warlord Radha will be a good companion? She should be generating four to five mana the turn she drops, and with Prowling Serpopard curving into her no reason you shouldn't be able to stick the landing. Shoot, turn 5 you should be able to cast Verix kicked, and have some mana left over.

Does every one here forget playing against Broodmate Dragon... or that Vraska's Contempt is a card. Phoenix is just a one for one with it.... at least later in the game this can leave behind a 4/4 flyer. Not to mention it can just be a 4cmc 4/4 flyer early game. This is a much better late game play then the Phoenix is. I'm not saying it's better in general.... I am saying to all the haters that this card is better than a "garbage mythic".
The legendary supertyping on the card and the token is what's gonna hold these big boys back. Playing Broodmate Dragon back to back was part of what made it so good. This card doesn't have that advantage, though.
If your opponent isn't answering your first Broodmate or Verix then you are probably just winning the game. playing multiple Broodmate wasn't what made them good, nor was it really even a part of them being good, it was that they created multiple big flying bodies and was almost an instant two for one. This also has the up side of being able to be played early in the game if needed. I'm simply stating that saying this is a bad card or garbage mythic is just ill informed.

Art is life itself.
As for the card itself it's at least alright, maybe better than that.
