I think he should have had like a Scion of the Ur-Dragon ability that instead let him become a copy of a legendary creature instead of a dragon. That way it's like he's stealing all their history and abilities.
I'd like to think that Belzenlok's ETB is representing him taking pieces of history in your library bit by bit and twisting them for his own purposes.
In any case, the ranking for Liliana's demons gameplay-wise seems to be: Griseldaddy > Razaketh, the Crocodile Feast > Belzenlok, the Scion of Darkness, the Evincar of the Stronghold, the Eternal Patriarch, the Alpha and the Omega, the Source of all Things, the Chicken and the Egg, the... > Kotho-who?
All Lilianas demons have a theme of card drawing which I took at making deals with them for power.

They managed alright with Razaketh been superior to Griselbrand with his stats(ofcourse in constructed Griselbrand is superior). Kinda disapointed that they din't make Belzenlok bigger.
The true flavor fail is that from the beggining Lili was killing her demons in order of power. first a 6/6, then a 7/7, then a 8/8. Belzenlok shold be a 9/9 for 9(or 10, or undercusted ) or at least undercosted 5/5 idk, WotC just messed up this cicle.

That would have been nuts lol. Sad that i think black does not have a good way to win on the spot, unlike Scion-EDH have. but could be a good modern card to build around.
I gotta say, I'm in the minority but I feel the card is actually pretty good. 6/6 flying trample is 1 keyword too many for a 6/6 at 6CMC. Then the ability shouldn't be misconstrued with 'draw a card' because it draws you gas. Just the fact that it replaces itself with more gas makes it pretty swell. Then, sometimes, you're gonna have a Vraska's Contempt on top...or a Scarab God...Or a Glorybringer...or a Chandra...in those uncommon instances it gives you a tank full of gas while also, yanno, being a deadly threat on board.
It may never make it. Meta is everything, after all. But if it doesn't, I honestly don't believe it will be due to lack of powerlevel.
Ofcourse Belzenlok doesn't live up to the hype. That is his thing: Hyping himself up and lying about his power when in fact he's mostly bark and little bite.

The real funny part would be if they make a "2nd" form, kinda like this is just his normal form and he powers up to something that is his actual "big" form.
Has it been confirmed that they Demons had to:
1. Be slain in order of power by Liliana?
2. Actually all be numerical perfection (6/6, 7/7, 8/8 and 9/9)?
Maybe these two were not anything stated by Wizards of the Coast? Maybe these two were fan-made theories that didn’t turn out to be correct guesses?

1 more or less. She starts killing the 6/6 easypizi, then have a bit of a batle with Grizeldad, than have a fight with Razaketh, crocodiles' meal. And in the last one she asks help for the gatewatch cause she probably can't deal with hin alone. Also he is a "Elder Demon"....
2 more or less. mtg designers know we like cycles. They knew about this theory, thats probably why they made Razaketh as a 8/8

This was my initial take, too. I expected a 9/9 to fit with the cycle.

Kothophed, Soul Hoarder was a 6/6
Griselbrand was a 7/7
Razaketh, the Foulblooded was an 8/8
It stands to reason that Demonlord Belzenlok would be a 9/9.
