You may pay WUBRG rather than pay the mana cost for spells that you cast.

Legendary Planeswalker - Jaya (M)
+1: Add RRR. Spend this mana only to cast instant or sorcery spells.
+1: Discard up to three cards, then draw that many cards.
-8: You get an emblem with "You may cast instant and sorcery cards from your graveyard. If a card cast this way would be put into your graveyard, exile it instead."

I kinda wish that Jaya's first ability was a minus ability that mirrored Pyromancer's Goggles instead of this, but that probably wouldn't have fit on the card. Or at least made the ultimate passively double all red instants/sorceries.
Then again, they may not have wanted this Jaya to be quite as over-the-top referential as the original was.
As far as I'm concerned, huge slam dunks both of them. Flavour off the charts and just great fun cards. Perfect cards to prod the imaginations of players and get them into the story and brewing.
Jodah is quite bonkers in EDH, but as far as color identity is concerned, he doesn't really make much sense. Jeskai colors usually don't have anything to do with mana cost altering effects... guess it's OK to break the color pie once in a while.

I think waving your fingers and calmly saying "There is no mana concern" is pretty Jeskai.
I just want to point out that these appear to be promos (probably prerelease), as denoted by the date stamp on the art. Not only that, but Jaya's art is different than the art that was oeiginally revealed for her. I wonder if alt-art prerelease promos are coming back?

Wrong
Jaya art matches the one on the booster packs from eariler
I remember Jaya Ballard having the absolute best flavor text growing up. She's easily in my top 3 characters all time. Not sure how I feel about her Plainswalker card though. It doesn't resemble anything I would've expected from the character. If you want to look at a design that they knocked out of the park, look at Jaya Ballard, Task Mage. Then do yourself a favor and check out the flavor text for Pyroblast, Incinerate, and Inferno to see why (sorry, I don't know how to link a specific version of cards so you're gonna have to look up Ice Age Incinerate yourself).
Jaya's probably going to be Chandra 2.0...in terms of value. Paying a net 2 for her is pretty cool. She's the kind of wise-ass grandmother anyone would like to have.
Don't forget Crystal quarry that has a home at long last too.
Crystal Quarry was actually played a decent amount in Invasion-Odyssey Standard, in the Mono-black Control lists. It allowed them to cast Last Stand, which functioned as a double-Corrupt to easily finish off the opponent.

This Jaya is 60+ years older, which means she's has plenty of time to learn new tricks.
Also worth noting that her instant and sorcery focus is still within the realm of pyromancy.
Am I the only one who thinks Jaya is a terrible planeswalker? Her plus abilities are pretty much worthless, even though she costs 5.
I agree that she is not a very good card at all. 5 mana is a already too much for a curve topper in a mono-red deck (which is really the only shell I could realistically see her in). Also, her +1 abilities do nothing to protect her and are complete blanks if my hand is empty (which it will be after playing 5 lands and casting all my red spells). But who knows, maybe I could make something work with Seething Song type cards and Fireball. I love the character too much to give it a hard pass but something tells me she will end up collecting dust alongside my copy of Chandra Ablaze
Was anybody able to see what the rarity or number the cards (well rarity of Jodah)? I’m doing the number crunch and wondering where Jodah is. It looks like an “8” or “9” as last digit (for Jodah). I know it’s probably a tough question but just wondering
Maybe it's just me, but it feels like these two were made for each other. Sure, the mana base to go from 1RWU to 2RRR isn't seamless but all of Jaya's abilities seem to work quite well with Jodah's and a 4/3 flying blocker certainly helps keep Jaya alive. Unlike Jhoira of the Ghitu one of my big concerns with building around Jodah in Standard is that you need a critical mass of expensive cards to make him worthwhile but those same cards are a pain in the ass until you actually control the game so the Jaya superloot is great for turning them into Wizard's Retort's and Galestrike's. I especially like the idea of flashing back Overflowing Insight for WUBRG.
This is not to say that I am naive enough to think this will replace UW Approach (or even be tier 2) but it does seem hella fun.

Issue is they also already did this for Chandra and I'm guessing they wanted Jaya to have her own design space and not be another Chandra version. While Chandra Ablaze played in this area they haven't really done that much with later Chandra cards.

That would be the dinosaurs particularly zacama if you want exspensive spells
But I don't see standard for him he's a gamble that you can get the 5-color activation and the one land from amonkhet is the only source we got to activate Jonah easily
Jodah is going to be the new go-to Commander for 5C goodstuff. He can do some powerful things even without you building around him all that much. I like it though, I always thought Fist of Suns had a cool effect.
Also, his art is amazing!

It also pretty much highlights how powerful Jodah is as a character, since he mechanically allows you to cast any spell for 5 mana.
Omniscience? No problem.
Enter the Infinite? Pffft!
Conflux? I do that every Tuesday.
Her second +1 is anything but worthless, but her mana cost might hold it back.
The super-loot and the emblem could be devastating. Doubt she does much, if any damage in Standard. Could be wrong, though.

I was not even aware of that card. I suppose in Commander we would just use both of them.

Funny how the five-mana alternative casting has been around for quite some time, but this kinda hits it home...and makes it somewhat poetic in EDH. Does this mean I should load up on Crystal Quarry and get my eyes checked for Cataracts? Five-mana poison makes me happy.
