Pyromantic Pilgrim looks badass, would like to see him in actual set instead.
Karplusan Hound wording is weird in a bad way. Why "cardname" and "this creature" on the same card? What does it mean? Whenever I attack with any Karplusan Hounds, this ability triggers for every one of them?
It's because the line follows another noun. If it had read, "Whenever Karplusan Hound attacks, if you control a Chandra planeswalker, it deals 2 damage to any target." the word "it" becomes ambiguous. Is Chandra dealing the damage, or the dog? Obviously, experienced players get it, but this product isn't for them, and Magic templating still matters.
And if they had repeated the card name, it could have led to questions of how the effect stacks with multiple hounds.
Man, that is one weak sauce ult on teferi. When that actual effect has been printed on a card that costs less than the planeswalker itself...you know you're looking at a planeswalker deck planeswalker.
-3 is good but overall I don't think he does anything interesting enough. Reminds me of the 6-drop nissa we got a while ago - great minus ability, otherwise total crap.

It is indeed crap then again any Teferi has to be rated against Teferi, Temporal Archmage but they didn't even try.
I am more worried though that they wasted the ability on such a weaksauce card. An Extra Turn is natural ability on Teferi. Now we might not get another one.

Of course they didn't try, that's the whole point of these products.
Extra turns are pretty dicey on planeswalkers because they chain so easily. They have to be ultimate abilities by default, but they're also pretty boring unless Ral Zarek craziness is involved. Vanilla extra turn effects are good for intentionally boring precons, and Teferi gets to fire his three turns after being played, which is average for an ult.
Making these cards intentionally bad just rubs me really bad.
I just hate this product and the idea of it (for any purpose of selling the product, yea, make them good, just print more if the cards are really good, or reprint them later or in some commander whatever, solving a "problem" that would be such a big benefit for stores to sell product and make people actually happy instead of selling intentionally bad cards that pretty much nobody really wants).

I agree. They say they don't want to make them super playable because people will buy them up... but isn't that what they want? At least make them semi playable.

Or at least make an Ult you actually want to reach, his + ability isn't super great so you aren't going to want to spam it if you can - him and draw 2 cards.
I may be wrong but it seems a lot of posters want tournament viable cards.
However the truth is not EVERYBODY plays that way. Some people, as crazy as it may seem, play this GAME for fun with friends at kitchen tables. When placed in that context almost any card can be fun and Usable. Its not always about winning and winning as fast as you can. You have to just accept what these products are. If your looking for more, you will be dissapointed every time. If its not for you, move on. You dont have to buy them. Commander used to be fun with making any deck you wanted and now that even has a certain set of cards you NEED for optimization. But not everyone is looking for optimization. It may be a strange, weird or stupid concept for some but it is true.
What the exact percentages are of tier competitive demanding players and casuals is I do not pretend to know, but I do know not EVERYBODY who plays Magic plays in tournament type settings, and for those people, the mediocre cards in a standard set or Planeswaker decks are just fine. Some may just want to collect the cards and not play at all.
WOTC is just trying to get all the money from all the people they can.
Sorry for the rant and Im sure there may be valid responses but I just beg to see things in context. Not every card made will be a Home Run or even a double but some, again not knowing exactly how many just dont care about that and those may be the ones to actually buy these type of products. I just dont get all the complaining over Power levels of cards, they have to spread it out thin or they wouldnt have much to print.. I get it, for constructed tournament type decks it can be frustrating knowing that only 1-3 cards per block seem to actually slot in to a competitive deck but hey this game has been around for a while and its hard to print something with powerful efficiency when a lot of those slots are frankly filled up, bt thats really all we can expect unless some serious creep begins.
Im not defending the cards as actually being good, I want good cards too....for my good card decks. Sometimes playing a "bad" card deck is really fun as long as your buddy is also playing a "bad card" deck. Its all relative is I guess my point
Now complaining about card stock issues and foiling issues and print quality IS definately a valid complaint because that encompasses ALL players of this Game.
Again sorry for the long post and rant but its just been bubbling up in me...now flame away
Funny that in the latest podcast, Richard Garfield says, whenever he was actually allowed to speak with Mr. Manic sitting beside him, that he wanted to create a game that specifically doesnt rely on a set state of rules or cards and thats how he came up with because WE the players could make our own game by changing cards in our decks. I encourage us all to live up to those words and diversify our decks to encompasses ALL power levels.
Most of us here know instinctively whether a card is good or bad or if a more efficient version exits but some times we can even surprise ourselves and come up with something that on its face wouldnt seem to work but Boom ..Magic happens and a FUN Game ensues.
Teferi has a child. Makes sense though. Can't be going around the multiverse looking like Idris Elba and not having someone that'll let you phase them out.
*planeswalks away*
Bolas, you saucy.
Teferi looked much scholastic and elegant in Teferi, Temporal Archmage, and in the new ones it's as if he did a jaw surgery that made him look more rugged. I did his beard/dread appearance more than clean shaven.
You can get a (very cute) infinite combo with Teferi, Timebender, which is neat. Make sure it has at least 5 loyalty (that shouldn't be hard), and an Eldrazi Displacer in play. Cast Deepglow Skate, doubling Teferi, Timebender counters to ten. Then use Eldrazi Displacer to bounce Deepglow Skate, doubling his counters to twenty. Use Teferi, Timebender's ultimate, and rinse and repeat each turn. It doesn't win you the game, but it gives you infinite turns to find a solution.
Edit: Just sayin' I think I'm going to build a superfriends Niambi, Faithful Healer, if its terrible. Oh well!
So the business model is to sell kids and new players useless cards on purpose?
Its funny I thought they were getting better during Ixalan. One step forward and two steps back it appears.
That's chronological nonsense. How can you consider Ixalan "one step forward" and the planeswalker deck philosophy "two steps back" in this context if that philosophy is just as old as planeswalker decks themselves and hence far older than Ixalan. Stuff doesn't start existing the moment you hear/read about it.

The card for Teferi's daughter is pretty boring mechanics-wise, but has nice flavor. Too bad she can only get the crap version of Teferi.
