Token miniatures sounds nice, but yet another board game for Magic is becoming tiring. I really wish they wouldn't try so hard with non-card games when it relates to Magic.
MTGO needs an update terribly and yet we have constant new things like this. I know there are other teams that work on separate things, but I wish WotC would focus on things that matter more for the game itself than trying to pump out product like the 90's with Beanie Babies.
Token minis sound fun for commander but I agree with Dontrike, it always feels like the resources from side games like this could be better spent fixing the issues that the main card game has and has had for a while now. I feel like there are a lot of players whole think things like " Oh so they can make a new board game every block but the card stock still curls immediately" and I can't really disagree with that sentiment.

These are licensed products, meaning Wizards themselves spent nearly zero resources on the development of them. If NECA made 500 different M:tG boardgames, or none, it would not effect Hasbro's development of the M:tG cardgame either way.
I'm actually excited about this now; It's a euro game and not a another minature based combat game (like Arena of the Planeswalkers) that they will fail to support.
Frustrating that they don't have a tap symbol in some way shape or form on the tokens. If they want a bleed over product there should be a way to use these tokens easily with the card game. Even arrows on the base of the angel statue would have gone a long way.
I dunno, I just feel like if the token had something that could signify it was tapped (which is a huge part of battlefield information) through some kind of indicator while still being a mini I may have taken a bite. As is it's just a dnd mini that also happens to be art on a card (meh).
The only token I could see picking up would be an angel token for geist of saint traft personally. Most other token producers create multiples, which just isn't as conducive to minis as it is cardboard.
The tokens are cute, but so impractical and goes against the portability of magic card games. But if you want to pimp your goblin deck or zombie horde, I don't see why not. But as mapccu pointed out, so annoying that tapping is not easily represented in the tokens.

You care about MTGO. But others don't. MTGO gets constantly updates and new content. Cannot say the same for Magic Duels. Now check the number of times each of us complains about the respective product line not being supported enough. If MTGO continues to exist and new releases occur in digital as well as in paper, then that's already an investment your product gets.
This product is orthogonal to your interests. Other people will be happy about this. It would be nice if you don't insult them by starting every topic about a new product that you are not interested in by wishing these other people don't get access to these (to them) interesting ventures in favor of you getting more. That kind of selfish attitude is off-turning.
I realize you are just one of many people expressing that attitude, but you can be part of the difference if you stop after "this is not for me" and skip the "stuff that's not for me should be replaced with stuff that's for me".
I e. g. appreciate that they market this product in a way that ties it into the main game as a source of cool tokens rather than outsourcing the project. Preferably the game actually would be compatible with the main game in a more intimate fashion like e. g. Explorers for Ixalan which used actual main game cards, but there are issues with that due to the fact that a TCG has a different business model than a LCG and the overlap can create unhealthy interactions between products whenever you create preconstructed decks.
Ideally we get some Arena of the Planeswalkers variant that can be played with actually home-brewed decks - in the fashion of Frontier Magic (not to be confused with the Nth Duel Constructed format that unfortunately got arbitrarily called Frontier).

It gets updates, but the system is antiquated and old. It needs a far larger update than putting in new cards when they come out in paper.
This product is orthogonal to your interests. Other people will be happy about this. I couldn't care if it's selfish. Ever Since WotC has been pumping out various products like they can't turn off the hose has shown the game in decline, both in the actual game and elsewhere. All this does is take focus away from the game and makes it far more irritating to play, which the last few years has shown. It's pretty clear to me that all of this product has made the actual game worse, and I don't know about you but I would rather the main game stay strong than them focus on pumping out constant low quality product, like Masters, with low quality card stock.
I'm not going to apologize for wanting the actual game to remain strong. WotC hasn't shown they can do this the last few years as they look into board games, board games combined with the card game, ways to get as much money from us as possible with the least amount of work (Masters), MMORPGs, MOBAs, mobile games, and anything else. The state of the game has been fairly bad the last few years and I'd rather the actual game stay strong than them pumping out things that are obviously not going to make it in the long term, like the MMO.
I realize you are just one of many people expressing that attitude, but you can be part of the difference if you stop after "this is not for me" and skip the "stuff that's not for me should be replaced with stuff that's for me".
No. I'm allowed to express my opinion on all of this and how it relates to the game itself and the decline it has seen as they put out low quality for years. If you want to play all of these things then great for you, but I'm expressing my opinion as someone that these might be sold to and I would rather not have these kinds of products. You seem like the one that's upset someone is doing that more so than me with this.
It's pretty clear to me that all of this product has made the actual game worse, and I don't know about you but I would rather the main game stay strong than them focus on pumping out constant low quality product, like Masters, with low quality card stock.
I think we're in agreement here - since even people who want Masters, are not satisfied with what they are getting.
Outside of that a lot of the other stuff is really, really tangential to the main game - some of the stuff you mention is just a matter of selling a licence to use their IP. No actual content creator of the main game is actually going to be kept from doing their best job on the creation of cards and sets if someone gets to make a mobile game.
No. I'm allowed to express my opinion on all of this and how it relates to the game itself
I agree. You are allowed. I thought maybe you cared enough about other people to check yourself when called out and would appreciate the chance to show yourself the bigger man.
If you want to play all of these things then great for you, but I'm expressing my opinion as someone that these might be sold to and I would rather not have these kinds of products.
Oh, but are you "someone that these might be sold to"? As I understand it you are someone with no interest in buying these.
You seem like the one that's upset someone is doing that more so than me with this.
What's "that"? I must be misunderstanding from context, because I don't think I ever implied you were upset with expressing your opinion.?
Complaining about how these products somehow make MTGO or cardstock quality worse is a bad take if I've ever heard one. These are licensed products; other than someone in branding proofing and signing off on them, the amount of manpower coming out of Wizards themselves is nonexistent.
As a D&D player, I'm really happy 'bout the Creature Forge announcement! Our group's always looking for more options for minis and the two revealed thus far look great.

This statement has nothing to do with Heroes of Dominaria or Creature Forge, which are produced by Wizkids, not Wizards of the Coast. No amount of video games, movies, comics, posters, or board games will have any impact on Masters or card stock.
As the player explores the ancient lands, they will need to build sites, rediscover lost artifacts, and confront the sinister Cabal
Remember when the Cabal was first introduced and it was fairly Morally Grey, sure it was something like a gigantic mafia but well Kirtar and the Order were not particularly nice either, Thanks WOTC you forgot that the black part of the pie isn't supposed to be default evil.

Patriarch Kuberr was pretty evil, and the things they did to Jeska. Fulla I think was a victim of circumstance but she was pretty self servingly evil by the end. Mazeura was just trying to survive, but the whole Mirari/Phyrexian influence made him do some pretty evil things.
I would half-expect the Cabal represented in 'modern' Dominaria to have heavy Phyrexian influences, either as side effects of the Mirari or new influence.
As someone who really enjoys Arena of the Planeswalkers because of the great combo of proven mechanics and MTG lore and flavor, I'm really excited for this.

another product that will be forgotten in a month. neat as minis are, this one is getting a pretty hard pass from me for now given the track record.

Creature forge looks like just the line of token miniatures
But overall depends on how it goes.
I got the impression they are, or do you specifically mean the minis from the stand alone game? From what I read the 28 token set is its own thing.
