Heh, good to see them back at an appropriate rarity these days. Sweet set.

The "Crazy One", playing casual magic and occasionally dipping his toes into regular play since 1994.

Find me at the Wizard's Tower in Ottawa every second Saturday afternoons.
That is so bizarre. After all these years, I never once realized it was a rare. When I needed them, I just happened to have them.
I think I had a much tougher time finding Armageddon and Wrath of God that I thought lions were common or uncommon at least.
Yes, the irony is not lost on me. It was the flagship card in my first Weenie deck and the card that helped me get out from under the oppressive thumb of a Winter Orb deck.
Scion of the Wild, Mortician Beetle, Ivy Elemental, Elvish Vanguard, and Emperor Crocodile sat around a table, drinking heavily and complaining about how they miss being rares. Apprentice Wizard, the founder of this little unofficial club, just stared silently into his beer, having long since come to terms with the fact that he's not likely to see another reprint, much less at a higher rarity. He'd been downgraded to common before expansion symbols even showed rarity; somewhere along the line, years ago, Wiz had simply run out of outrage.
Suddenly, someone slammed a full mug onto the table. Everyone turned to see Savannah Lions taking a seat at the table. "You think you ********s have problems?" he slurred. "I used to be somebody! Not bargain-bin bulk like you guys!" The heavy smell of alcohol on Savannah's breath made it clear that this was far from his first drink of the night. "I was on top of the world. I had it all. But it slipped away, like so much dust in the wind." Savannah held up his paw, letting imaginary dust slip between his fingers. "It seems like just yesterday that they thought to print Elite Vanguard rather than reprint me at uncommon. Now, though..." He trailed off.
The others rushed to console Savannah, Ivy patting him on the back. Wiz said nothing, still. Savannah's hard-luck story was rougher than most, but even someone like him would eventually lose the will to be angry at the world all the time, Wiz thought to himself, as he took a sip of his beer.

Now I really want Isamaru to be reprinted at uncommon so he can poke fun at Lions barking that his Legendary status saved him since no one at WotC wants Legendaries running around at Common in Limited. Then we get Mirror Gallery (at rare representing Betrayers of Kamigawa) adding salt to that wound...
