This is one of those cards I wish they would use the original art work. Or almost any other artwork (except Marcadian Masques). I cringe every time I see so much red on this particular card. The Ice Age version has a lot of red too, but it's not so pervasive.
At least they included it. Just not sure if it's really worth it. I have something like 30 of these cards floating around in my collection.

Well, sorry to hear that. This particular art is actually pretty high on pretty much everyone else's list ever since it first appeared in 5th Edition.
If I'm not mistaken, this is also the first time this art is available in foil. That's why we're getting this version. WRONG: FTV 20. Well, not sure that counts--people will replace those with these in almost every case.
I wonder if there will be any sort of storm theme or if they're just shoving ritual in to let people do degenerate stuff on turn 1 because lets face it Dark Ritual has had no end of prints already. Would have preferred the ice age or mirage art for foil but oh well.

It's a common. Even if it's not worth anything these days, it's better than probably any other commons we are going to see.

Project Booster Fun makes it less fun to open a booster.
What set is that supposed to be for with the M watermark?
They are using "M" for cards that are from Alpha/Beta.
Great reprint! Wouldn't feel like the 25th anniversary without it. Common is interesting, makes me wonder if we're going to see Storm or "Black mana matters" as major subthemes.

I'm sick of this art, mainly because it doesn't look like a ritual. It looks like a burn spell. Gimme the Mirage or Mercadian Masques versions any day.

Can you name all of the creature types with at least 20 cards? Try my Sporcle Quiz! Last Updated: 6/29/20 (Core Set 2021).
Is this still a common? I thought fast mana acceleration was not preferred by WotC. I would have thought this would have been an uncommon.
It's a Masters product. And fast mana is generally allowed in modern design (not that it's relevant to this), just not on turn 1. And it's red. I guess black could have Channel-like effects, albeit much worse than Channel (of course), or something like Sacrifice?
Personally, the Fifth Edition art is my least favorite.

Card advantage is not the same thing as card draw. Something for 2B cannot be strictly worse than something for BBB or 3BB. If you're taking out Swords to Plowshares for Plummet, you're a fool. Stop doing these things!

In a master's set, many things that would be Uncommon in a Standard set can be pushed down to common here so this at common is a small surprise, but a welcome one. Also, generally speaking fast mana appears at common - Infernal Plunge, Pyretic Ritual, Battle Hymn are all common. The issue is that fast mana is developmentally scary (So they do it infrequently and we'd never see a fast mana spell at this power level in standard ever) and now a Red thing, but it's a fine common for them to do in 25th anniversary out of color.

Is there a list somewhere that can tell us which Artists will never see reprints due to rights/compensation issues.
Im assuming most of the older artist?
Some may be passed as well.
Just wondering if we will ever get Chris Rush, Doug Schuler, Melissa Benson, Mark Poole, Richard Kane Ferguson, Amy Weber, NeNe Thomas, Ron Spencer or the likes ever again.
I understand for normal reprints but in specialty or anniversary type deals, original Art would be some Awesome

There are rights/compensation issues with some art, but it's not a matter of which artist, it's a matter of how old it is. They used a different contract pre-Mirage. So, except for special occasions such as the Time Spiral timeshifted sheet, they don't reprint pre-Mirage art.
The Urza's Saga, Mercadian Masques, and Mirage art are all better than what they went with in my opinion. This really seems like the perfect opportunity to go with the original art, though. Whatever the legal issues are, it would be nice if they would stop defaulting to the art they do.
If we got ritual from Alpha, maybe we can skip bolt and get Chain Lightning instead. But it shouldn't eat up Legends spots from stuff like Tabernacle, Underworld Dreams or Moat. Maybe they'll troll us and send in an orifinal elder dragon mythic...
Not that a lot of people will play Limited of this for long, but Turn 1 Phyrexian Obliterator is a very possible thing in A25 limited now (you'll need 2 Ritual T1, but since it's common the real task is actually opening and drawing Obliterator itself).

We don't get much RKF these days, but when they did reprint Everlasting Torment, Field of Souls, and Wildfire Emissary recently, they reused his art.
