The template of "if you cast it" instead of "if you cast it from your hand" is rather neat. I seems rather odd to me that they just printed Wakening Sun's Avatar using the old template of "from your hand". A quick gatherer search showed me this template is new, so why do it mid-block?
This is pretty nice with effects like delay, hostage taker, dead man's chest, etc
I asked the same question when they redid colorless mana symbols in BFZ and OTG.
This change was probably made specifically so casting it for commander actuslly gives you the benefit of untapping your lands.
I fainted. Oh lordy is this a thing of beauty. So this is almost always going to get cast around turn 6/7(Likely with haste), which is fine for what it is. Untapping all lands is usually going to let you activate 2 "heads" immediately, or you can just cast a big ol' dino from your hand. Anyone who is whining about it not doing enough is seriously underestimating the full land untap. You have just so much flexibility in what you can do: 6 damage? 3 and kill and artifact? Kill 2 artifacts? Activate 2 different enrage effects? Cast another giant dino? None of the above? Then enjoy your 6 life little guy. The "heads" definitely feel like a giant war machine just crashed to earth and is just shooting all sorts of different lasers and missiles in all directions. This is instantly one of my favorite magic cards ever printed.

The abilities feel low impact because in Gishath you're probably running Aura Shards which means you don't need his green ability.
The inverse of this is also true though; if you are running him, you don't need Aura Shards. And while Aura Shards is very good, personally I'd rather have the repeatable Naturaizle on a 9/9 vigilant reachy trampler with Lightig Bolt and half of Healing Salve as well.
More weird ass cards. Like he doesn't necessarily want to go in Gishath because his Untap ability only works if cast. Then again he's a 9/9 trample, reach, and vigilance with some decent activated abilities.
But as its own commander it's kind of just a generic Naya deck.
Oh and it turns out to not be 5 color(which was just speculation for the one who asked) which leads me to think the Blue and Black Elders are the only ones of their colors.
I like the card, but it made me realize we have a multicolor mythic creature in this set for every tribe but pirate. No Grim Captain, no Beckett Brass, nothing. Darn. I was hoping for one more option as a pirate leader.

You basically said it. Zacama is super flexible, you can even use them as a attack and blocker with the vigilance and can block the flyers with Reach.

Maro comfered this was the case, mostly not to force people to go to 5 colors dinosaurs.

What I do really like about this guy is that he's versatile. You have removal, life gain, and land untapping when you cast him, on top of him being a big boy. Sure, he's expensive, but you get to replenish your mana and break even when you cast it.
i don't know, i think its really crappy as a commander because of its high cost and how easily its dealt with.
wont see play, possibly even in limited.
its a kitchen table dragon dinosaur, or like something that will be jammed in every mayael deck but really shouldn't be bothered with.

Each and every dino edh will have this until the end of time at least in the 99. I still like gishath as the commander, but this can work if you really want it. Standard dino ramp should probably pack at least one of these for the sheer utility. Both the enrage and ramp casual dino decks play this. I would play this in limited with 4+ ramp cards. The only place this doesn't see play is modern and the old formats.

If you can cast it. That's nine mana, so you might cast it once or twice. And it dies to just about every relevant WUB removal except, I don't know, Death Rattle. (If I have enough red removal to do it in, I'm aiming it at your face.)

Card advantage is not the same thing as card draw. Something for 2B cannot be strictly worse than something for BBB or 3BB. If you're taking out Swords to Plowshares for Plummet, you're a fool. Stop doing these things!
Art is cool. I’ll play him in my 99 for Gishath. This is basically the Scion of the Ur-Dragon Vs. Ur-Dragon all over again. Scion is a “lesser” version but is a much better Commander.
This guy has good impact as a creature. Definitely. But there’s no reason to have him as the commander.
I think that’s the disappointing part. Not the card itself - there’s nothing wrong with the card. It’s just that this doesn’t really replace or improve on anything.
Also, perhaps people were expecting progenitus since this guy is sort of Ixalan’s version? Personally, im glad he’s not progenitus.
Love this card, he is still good w/ gishath since that just means he comes down for free so u will still have the mana to use his abilities.
Sweet as a commander since u get all the mana back u invested to cast him so u can cast him and still do everything else u want. Give him death touch and u can shoot stuff down easily. U won't always have aura shards so his destroy artifact/enchantment is awesome. Life gain is nvr bad and there r cards that do care about this.
Awesome card, players who love big stompy things that can gain value will love this. Like me <3
He "dies to removal" sure, but because he untaps your lands you'll actually be ahead on tempo in that exchange. If you also use him to kill a couple permanents, you're ahead on cards too.

Oh no! How will my 9/9 with vigilance and trample ever be able to deal damage to players?
Only regret I have is him not having haste.

It does something big, flashy, HUGE.
And its cool to play, it simply does a lot to solve almost any problem you could face.

This is the kind of big impact card i would like all the Elder Dinos to have.
But most of them are way more boring.

That's just dumb.
Zacama is awesome and splashy. Not having the 'from hand' on the cast trigger makes it amazing with free cast cards.
