Can someone correct me if my interpretation is wrong:
- Does not stop Cavern of Souls or Tron lands from generating 7 mana
- Would shutdown your fetch lands
With regards to Cavern of Souls, I believe that if Cavern is on the battlefield, creature type already picked, then Cavern works as normal. However, if you try to put a Cavern down with Blood Sun already on the battlefield, then you can't choose a creature type and the second ability won't work.
This is weird as it’s both hate and anti-drawback. Dual lands come into play untapped, Bouncelands don’t require you to bounce anything, City of traitors doesn’t require any sacrifices, Lotus Vale becomes literal Black Lotus.
MTGS Wikia Article about "New World Order"
Every time I read a comment about "Well if this card had card draw/trample/haste/indestructible/hexproof/life gain...", I think "You're missing the point." They're armchair developer comments that fail to take into account the card's role in the greater Limited and Standard environment. No, it may not be as good as whatever card you're comparing it to. There's a reason for that. Not every burn spell is Lightning Bolt, nor does it need to be or should be.
PSA to everyone who keeps forgetting about the Reserved List:
You're on a website dedicated to talking about MtG. You're only a few keystrokes away from finding out what cards are on the Reserved List. You're also only a few keystrokes away from finding out why some cards on the Reserved List got foil printings in FtV, as Judge promos, or whatnot, as well as why that won't happen again. Stop doing this.
Can someone correct me if my interpretation is wrong:
- Does not stop Cavern of Souls or Tron lands from generating 7 mana
- Would shutdown your fetch lands
You're correct on both of those since Cavern/Tron are mana abilities and fetchland sacrifcing is not
I forgot to ask, does Valakut triggers still work?

No Valakut triggers, because Valakut has lost that ability.
This makes City of Brass do no damage (the damage is whenever it is tapped, not part of the mana ability), however cards like Caves of Koilos will still deal damage, as the damage is part of the mana ability.
From my understanding, this card could be used by Tron decks in modern to hose fair + valakut decks?

However, Mana Confluence still works, but it costs 1 life. In most cases, you want Mana Confluence, but with this out, you want City of Brass.
Doesn't that hose fetchlands and wasteland type effects? That seems really strong.

1. (Ravnica Allegiance): You can't keep a good esper control deck down... Or Wilderness Reclamation... or Gates...
2. (War of the Spark): Guys, I know what we need! We need a cycle of really idiotic flavor text victory cards! Jace's Triumph...
3. (War of the Spark): Lets make the format with control have even more control!
I could see how it might be a bomb in limited, but nobody is gonna put this in a constructed deck.
For the same cost, there are a million other cards that could win the game for you.
Looks like yet another filler card in a set chock-full of them - so hopefully we will get some REAL spoilers soon

I'd stop comparing it to Blood Moon and more compare it to cards like Amulet of Vigor. That is where it's strength truly lies. Plus it hoses land shenanigans without disrupting mana bases.
I didn't even consider that this circumvents drawbacks - I don't know if Lotus Vale and Scorched Ruins + this is a real deck in Legacy (possibly in an Eldrazi shell), but I'm fascinated to try it out. Probably too cute to actually run this with Izzet Boilerworks/Gruul Turf/Rakdos Carnarium and Transguild Promenade in modern, but that's really really interesting too.

Oh, sorry for the serious reply above. Didn't realize Rancor Crank is a recurring joke, seems to post once on the best card in each set (Search for Azcanta, Fetchlands, Brimaz) with the same "Maybe in limited, never in constructed, waiting for REAL spoilers" schtick. I hadn't seen it before so I didn't know it was a scripted comedy act I was heckling.
Undiscovered Paradise's 'drawback' still happens, it's not a separate ability of the card, it's part of its mana-producing ability, so this doesn't change it.
Kjeldoran Outpost... becomes a land that produces W. Sure you get to play it without sacrificing... but you can't activate its token-generating ability because that gets wiped.

The fact that someone takes the bait every single time is half of what makes Rancor Crank funny. You've contributed to a proud legacy, friendo.
There's a slight hitch in the ruling being 1:1 with the other 'enters the battlefield' rulings. They don't:
If Scorched Ruins would enter the battlefield, sacrifice two untapped lands instead. If you do, put Scorched Ruins onto the battlefield. If you don't, put it into its owner's graveyard.
4/1/2008: If you don't sacrifice the lands, Scorched Ruins never enters the battlefield — it goes directly to your graveyard.
Which makes it more like an additional casting cost than an ETB trigger, or an ETB replacement. Both cards have this errata and ruling.
In some cases better than Blood Moon, the Sun allows you to play multicolor without while shutting down utility lands, the moon would universally change all to mountain.
With regards to Cavern of Souls, I believe that if Cavern is on the battlefield, creature type already picked, then Cavern works as normal. However, if you try to put a Cavern down with Blood Sun already on the battlefield, then you can't choose a creature type and the second ability won't work.
AW YES
Don't forget Rupture Spire and Transguild Promenade; no need to pay 1, so they're basically free rainbowlands.
I think Blood Sun qualifies for RIX's "card I didn't know I wanted" award.

This is correct. This card out makes City of Brass > Mana Confluence.

Correct, however if the type was chosen BEFORE Blood Sun came out, it would still tap for mana for the chosen creature type.
