I hope this isn't the reveal-a-Dinosaur discount card. Ramp for Dino decks makes sense, but, IDK, an actual creature would have been nice. (Or, y'know, getting the land untapped.)
Weirdly, this text has never been written this way. I guess it's gonna be one sentence going forward?
I'm not one for being negative but dang this bad and their are so many ways this could have been a little better. One less mana, instant, any kind of land, ect.

Well this card is actually a Rampant Growth in standard for the Dino deck, and some of you complain... It's certainly better than Otepec Huntmaster in a midrange ramp list anyway !

Guys, there are plenty of playable dinos outside of a dino deck that can effectively make this Rampant Growth. Yeah, we aren't getting Rampant Growth in Standard anytime soon (if ever), but we just gotta make peace with it, like Bolt never coming back to Standard.
Man, I know it's well intentioned but rarely does a card capture the sense of disappointment more than this one does. I really love this set so far, but damn...

I just want a set where they don't have to hold back for once...like Kaladesh block.
I 100% disagree. After playing magic for 15 years and seeing what power creep does to the game I would love a couple of kamigawa level blocks. Kaladesh was a mistake. Gideon ally of zendikar was a mistake. Emrakul was a mistake. Collected company was a mistake. Fetchlands with fual lands was a mistake. Siege rhino was a mistake.
These cards that demand an immediate answer or else sorten games and increase variance. It sells product in the short term because of the dragonball z effect, but the quality of gameplay diminishes in favor of swingy games the devolve into topdecks. I'm more eexcited about the direction magic is going now than I have been since lorwyn.

IIRC, WotC did say a couple years back that Rampant Growth and kin, along with 1 CMC mana dorks, were not where they wanted the format to be. Green mana acceleration was to be 2-mana creatures, which we've seen a lot of variation on since like Sylvan Caryatid, or 3 mana search spells, or 2 mana search spells that are more narrow like this card and Ruin in Their Wake. Rampant Growth is a very good card in Standard, and if Dinosaurs ends up being a playable/competitive deck, it will be because of this card IMO. It's better than it looks.

I'm perfectly okay with this card existing; development needs will always wax and wane, and right now ramp is powered down. That's all cool.
What I don't understand, otoh, is why they decided this card was worth a preview?
"R&D has pulled back a bit from Rampant Growth. While we might one day push in that area, currently Rampant Growth is over the line."
Yes. Apparently rampant growth is considered overpowered indeed in these days (at least for WotC).
I really hate the way they control the types of decks that get played these days. I miss the old days of fast ramp decks. I’m so sick of midrange that it hurts...
Glad that dinosaurs get this but it would’ve been cool to see merfolk get a shot with it too. Or even another tribe that wanted to splash green for the boost - those kinds of decks would be fun to see

It does perplex me what merits a preview and what does not. If anyone recalls, Collected Company was not previewed individually. It was part of the last-day-of-previews dump, which even at the time left a lot of us scratching our heads since it was clearly one of the most powerful cards in the set.
EDIT:
Re: Current Development on ramp
Although I can understand why turn 1 mana dorks were pulled back (way too many 5-drops were hitting the board on turn 3), Rampant Growth should be perfectly fine in the same Standard as 2-drop mana dorks like Servant of the Conduit. If anything, Energy decks would prefer to run Servant over Rampant Growth because they get EE from the Servant.
Dinosaurs are such a big mess. This card needs lots of dinos to be playable, but dinos also have to add in the Human shaman dudes like Kinjalli's Caller, which then dilutes the ability to play this card. Sure you can have some god hand with the caller, a dino in hand and this, but deckbuilding wise, doesn't seem all that great. Especially when Dino decks look to slap 4 of these, 4 Savage Stomp, and 4 Commune with Dinosaurs as well.
Man, if this had been a dinosaur that did this on EtB we'd have been really going places. As it stands this is pretty bad and I'd much prefer Drover of the Mighty and Servant of the Conduit in my midrange G/x dinos lists.

It truly is an all or nothing mentality at R&D's when it comes to designing magics standard environment. One season folks duke it out with absurdly efficient, futuristic helicopters and turn four Ulamogs, and in the next season, rampant growth is being considered as too good.
I'm SO SICK of the "too strong for Standard" argument. It's the new "Dies to removal". We can have a two mana 4/4 with a zillion abilities, but we can't just have Accumulated Knowledge. Makes sense.
Man I wish they would have made it a cultivate at the very least. I didn't think ramp was as busted as they make it out to be. An overpriced rampant growth feels bad.
My main antagonism with this card is that it is completely unlike the others in its class. The other "reveal or pay more cards" actually get you something ahead of the curve. I would never play this instead of rampant growth(which doesn't get played anyway) in casual dinos, so it's frustrating to see the reveal effect wasted on this. Even a trivial "gain 2 life" would have made it worth it. Eh. They can't all be winners.

I just wonder why rampant growth is "too strong". I've never felt like it was that strong, am I missing something or is WoTC just being incredibly stingy with their power budget?

But due to strength they can't in today's standard
