The key is that the land is not legendary, so if you have two of these guys out, you can block something then fight each other and they both die and you get two lands that make golem. If I were to play these in standard I'd play a full 4 in the deck.
Except that doesn't work. The Golem will only transform if you resolve that golem's ability, and then that golem dies that turn. So if you had two, activated one of their abilities to have one fight the other, both would die but only the one that you activated would return transformed. If you tried to activate the second in response to the first, then only one of the fight abilities would resolve, and you still only get the one land.
True, and the key is actually pairing the ability with Enrage triggers (Ripjaw Raptor works especially well here).

Ok, thanks for letting me know, you can still play 3-4 of these in a deck though, but it's good to know that only one ability will resolve so you only get one land. I'm trying to figure out what other creature this could fight with and lose to if it's not blocking something, just using the fight ability...maybe some big dino.

Just line up a bunch of death touchers, durdle, and watch the fireworks go off when the flip lands resolve. The decks probably horrible, but that's just a few of the creatures in standard right now that have death touch. There's also the new 5/5 dino and Rhonas floating around that could combo with this land in a more defensive late game kind of strategy.

1. (Ravnica Allegiance): You can't keep a good esper control deck down... Or Wilderness Reclamation... or Gates...
2. (War of the Spark): Guys, I know what we need! We need a cycle of really idiotic flavor text victory cards! Jace's Triumph...
3. (War of the Spark): Lets make the format with control have even more control!
I got this card in two different prereleases. There were just too many hoops to jump through to make this anything more than a 4/4 defender for 4. I'm quite confident that there are constructed decks that can do some fun things with it but the juice just isn't worth the squeeze in limited.

I also got this card and had a wildly different experience. It was extremely easy for me to transform it and by letting it fight with either small lifegain vampire tokens (and then blocking an opponents creature with it) or with huge lifegainers and enrage creatures I got life, the land, and many possible triggers out of it. There was not a single time I had particular difficulties transforming it.
This card should be easy to transform in Breya, as you can just activate the ability on one of her tokens, then sac it and the second token to her ability. You get immediately refunded the mana from activating Breya, and you'll have more tokens for her later if 4/4's aren't good enough.
I believe this is the most abusable of all the flipped-to Ixalan lands, that can tap for all colored mana, to actually flip. The others require multiple colored mana or appear like there’s more loops to jump through than this.

Sorry, I'm not following. What does life gain have to do with this card? Golden Guardian really only works well if you already have a 4/5 (or bigger) to fight it. It's hard to flip during the combat step because opponents will play around it. I'm not trying to sacrifice 4+ power creatures in limited and I'm not getting fooled into attacking into it when my opponent has other creatures on the board and open mana.
