As an selesnyan player, i kinda accepted the fact that every selesnya walker will be pretty much useless, it's very sad really, but the art is amazing so i guess it's a plus ?

Loving that new Huatli. My Gishath, Sun's Avatar EDH deck already takes advantage of Doubling Season, so Huatli 2.0 is going to be ridiculous when she gets going.

I knew they'd use that ability on a PW again (Gideon, Champion of Justice). I wish she was RG honestly. I guess she went from desire to communing with nature (I'm terrible with Vorthosian matters).

"The essence of every world, every spell and every thought is power. Nothing else matters, because nothing else exists."
Looking at the colors and wondering whether this should have been Ajani (as from the Conquest of Power mockups), and in the end, they decided to make the card into Huatli 2.0....

They hint at this in the storyline;
(The Sun Emperor to Huatli)
"The Sun expresses itself in three aspects. Creativity, destruction, and sustenance. Your gifts have been lit by the first two, and it seems as if you must explore the last."

It should've been Ajani, but I guess he didn't gather up any PWs in Dominaria to planeswalk to Ixalan

So Azor will be a normal creature instead of a planeswalker then
They do, sometimes, put a third planeswalker in a small set. However, we've been speculating since Azor was announced that...
he lost his spark making the Immortal Sun
I'm just glad that these colours put to rest the rumor that Ajani will appear (despite appearing on the leaked 'Conquest of Power' booster packs) It doesn't make sense for him to appear story-wise.
It should've been Ajani, but I guess he didn't gather up any PWs in Dominaria to PW to Ixalan
There's no reason for Ajani to go to Ixalan. There's no reason for him to know Jace is there - he doesn't even know they went after Bolas against his advice (they promised him they wouldn't) Story-wise he is in Dominaria waiting for the rest of the Gatewatch.
I actually expect Liliana to go to Dominaria looking for Ajani (who doesn't know she abandoned the Gatewatch to die) to con him into helping her kill his last demon - which means Ajani could make sense next set but not this one. I'm not convinced the'd do GW planeswalkers in back-to-back sets. They usually like to diversify their colours more.
Now as to the rest of the cards - Jadelight Ranger looks sweet for my Scouts Explore Standard deck I've been tinkering with. It might actually be a viable strategy now. Double-explore means that the elemental and the ship that gets counters when creatures explore can grow quickly.
OTOH - that chupecabra with the BG transform enchantment/land make me wonder if BG or BUG control will start being a thing. A lot of the utility already being eyed for Sultai Energy will go straight there in the rotation planning.
Yay for 2 drop simple lords for both Merfolk and Vampires. Vamps needed a reason to go black (right now mono-white Vamps is where its at) and the merfolk's power will likely grow with Dominaria. I like the one-drop pirate in a pirate heavy deck. Mono-red pirates is already looking pretty strong and this might push it over the edge.
Still not sold on Ascend - I typically don't like allowing my opponents to draw cards even when I do too. It's one of the reasons I avoided Fevered Visions - although there is a player at my local FMN who used it in EVERY deck he built and I usually lost the game to it. Unlike that, though, this doesn't also deal damage. I'm dubious. The only ascend card that's worth playing that I've seen so far is Glorious Destiny - because it's a 3-drop tribal anthem - compared to the 5-drop Banner.

They said "imbued it with his spark". That does not mean he lost it...especially if he has done this as oldwalker.
Like I say above, this might have been Ajani in development, and was changed later to fit the story.

Except the first ability of that Gideon there cares about the number of creatures your opponent controls, so could do very little to nothing. Huatli cares about the number of creatures you control, which you should have more control over.
Anyway some of these cards look quite interesting. I do like the potential for that one drop pirate. I just wonder how many other red pirates you need to make sure it comes out turn one. I wonder if he could fit into my RDW deck.

I hope Dinosaurs get some nice cards soon...I am hoping Dinosaurs can compete in Standard.
Regardless, I will play 'em. However, I want more good playable standard dinos.
