Hello, Simic Modern Merfolk, how're you?

Could it possibly replace Phantasmal Image in UG Merfolk, or is Image just too flexible to leave?

... Wow. GU/Simic/tropical Merfolk's curve could stop at 2 with this!

Will this find a home in Modern Merfolk? Do they need LoA numbers 9-12?

Do they need it? They already have them with Merrow Reejerey. This could replace the Reejerey and stop the curve at 2 (yes, Reejerey has a highly relevant tapping/untapping ability as well, but imagine the possibility of such a low curve!).

It even makes Vial better! Yeah, this definitely goes in Modern.

2 days into RIX and I feel like merfolk has better support than the entirety of the previous set. As an aside, and I'm sure I'm in the minority here, but I always feel spoon-fed in tribal formats. I mean, Speaker, Branchwalker, Adept, Mistbinder, Metallic Mimic...it virtually builds itself. It changes deckbuilding from putting color on a blank canvas into an exercise in paint-by-number. But that's just me.

I was kind of Hoping for some more unique Lords, but this is string either way.

Merfolk is significantly stronger this time around.

With vial, who cares about the colors? It's more about CMC. This will definitely see play in modern.

Could even replace Lord of Atlantis itself in the mirror.

Alternately, Modern Fish could just run all 16 lords.

I love these uncommon mini-lords that are joining the ranks of Drogskol Captain and Immerwolf et al, minus the auxiliary bonuses granted to creatures of their respective type.

Is there a particular reason why Merfolk have so many +1/+1 lords?

I like how R&D was like "We aren't going to make any more traditional +1/+1 lords. We want to make them feel more unique and do things other than just give them a p/t boost."

Then they drop 2 of them in ROI at uncommon.

Love the card but anyone notice the flavor text? "The mist clothes us when we are bare, hides us when we are alone, and unites us when we are together" like did they make a mistake in the print? The first part makes perfect sense, clothes us when we are bare, but the other two are redundant especially when they comes after the first part. I feel like it needs to be hides us when we are together and unites us when we are alone. Could be wrong though.

If WotC says ANYTHING what they dont want to do anymore, you can bet they will just do it like 1-2 years later.

Its almost comical how that is a continues trend ...

The only reason people are feeling like it's a paint by numbers with tribal is that whenever they seem to do tribal, they make way too many tribal specific cards and not enough cards that just work for all of them. This isn't a complaint against the lords, but more so things like Jade Servant, Radiant destiny, etc. What's funny is that they probably made the latter card because if they made Glorious Anthem it's possible it may make dinosaurs too good.

WoTC does realize how unplayable most enchantments are right now in standard, right?
