Ascend
As ~ enters the battlefield, choose a creature type
Creatures you control of the chosen type get +1/+1.They have vigilance as long as you have the city's blessing.
A dead card without the blessing, on curve with the blessing, and providing only a marginal impact for a condition that requires a developed board
That's a stinker
Every white card in this set so far has been worse than Fallen Empires bad. Not many to choose from admittedly, but aren't spoilers supposed to be the exciting stuff? Nothing particular against this card but this set has started out really poorly for the white mage. Terrible.
Ascend is such a wonky mechaninc. I hate all of these Ascend abilities.
I have to agree that it is very wonky.
Having ascend on a card makes me not want to cast it unless I have enough permanents to get the Blessing, but if I'm holding back on casting permanents that have ascend on them, I'm actively hurting my board position, and thus denying myself getting the permanents for the Blessing.
This isn't an issue with more expensive cards, because I'm more likely to have the required permanents to get the blessing by time I can cast them, but it feels really counter-intuitive on cheaper cards, which I'd typically want to be casting early.

I think you got the mechanic wrong. Ascend on permanents works different than on instants or sorceries, it is constantly checking whether you control those 10 permanents, so you can safely play it in order to reach 10.

You are... completely right. I totally glossed over the specifics of how it functioned. Boy do I feel silly.
On the upside, hey no feeling like I'm only getting 1/2 the functionality of the card... /shrug
That's all I needed the rules page to say. But it isn't worded the way the usual new Thresholds are with "Threshold- Whatever do a thing. (You have Threshold if blah)
Keep trying wotc.

Wanted -Zombie Foils and older expensive Zombie stuff. High Priority- Beta Z Master/ Int. Collector's Edition.

Honestly I think it would have been more flavorful as a simple Threshold mechanic.
"Ascend - As long as you control ten or more permanents..."
That would have opened up the possibility to LOSE it after you gained it, you know the same way that the factions are implied to be trading/gaining/losing control of the city in the story. It'd certainly make it more interactive. Opponent "control's the city?" Destroy a few permanents. Need the "city's blessing?" Conquer more of the city (play out/steal a couple more permanents).
As a one shot deal it's... well rather boring.

I like the design of these "chose a tribe" for generic abilities like +1/+1. It allows to be used in many tribal types.
EDIT: Wish it costed 2; wouldn't break the card.
It’s a tribal block. You should be used to things caring about creature types...
This is a fine rare and a nice take on the anthem idea
My memory was combining Honor with Glorious Anthem. Damn, Honor was so good. Now that you reminded me of that CMC, I miss it...
Selling some cards I don't want.
Generally less than tcg mid.
