You definitely misread that. The spark ignites during a moment of great emotional intensity; Samut's came from the pride of being acknowledged by her God. She was born with a dormant one, same as anybody else.
More emotional intensity than the realization that everything she believed in her entire life was a lie? More than saving her lifelong friend from throwing his life away?
Not every extreme emotion will trigger a spark. Glissa never accented to being a walker and she went through some ***** during the Mirrodin books. IIRC her whole family and village killed by levelers. Chandra saw her dad dye in front of her and was told her was was also dead yet she didn't spark until her trial.
Beyond that, Samut's realization that her beliefs were based on a lie was a long time coming. She doubted as far back as before the death of her and Djeru's aven friend (whose name escapes me). There was no sudden intense emotion to it, it was a gradual build up. That very well could make a difference.
Chandra saw her dad dye in front of her and was told her was was also dead yet she didn't spark until her trial.
Oh wow.. good call (other than the misspelling of 'die'.) I read that story and I seem to have completely missed the trial. The way I remembered it - she was never caught, she walked after seeing her dad die and being chased by the Consul. That said - I had known that her walking is what burned Baraal's face.. which only makes sense if she was caught. I must be growing senile I used to have a knack for remembering everything I read.

Rose tint my world, keep me safe from my trouble and pain.
Didn't see it mentioned by anyone else, but I'm 99% certain the sail you can see in the background is the upper sail of the Predator, Flagship
Had to look some things up as I'm not up on the history but I believe you are correct. It also appears there is a Weatherlight style sky ship in the upper right of the artwork. Could be a "reborn" Weatherlight or just another new Skyship I suppose.
Evidently they are on the ruins of Stronghold on Rath where the Predator was destroyed. I still wonder what Teferi is magically vacuuming into his staff. Really looks like flower petals. I read about something called flowstone but again, I'm not up on the history.
On this topic.
Certainly the detail of the sail is not accidental, but a clear reference to something related to the history of Dominaria. The two most famous skyships from that era are obviously the Predator and the Weatherlight, both of which are destroyed, so I agree that the wreck can refer to the former.
However.
Although the type of sail in the image looks more like the Predator's upper one, there are representations of the Weatherlight that show completely similar features, especially in the depiction of the Legacy Weapon by John Avon.
In my opinion, therefore, there is also the possibility that the wreck depicted belongs to the most iconic Weatherlight (although I admittedly don't know to what extent it had been assimilated by Karn once he absorbed the Legacy: but temporal manipulation is always an option with Teferi around). This is also because, compared to the Predator hypothesis, the plot, whatever it may be, would have a greater chance of development, possibly involving other pieces of the Legacy besides the golem.
Anyway, wherever the truth lies, both ships were destroyed on Urborg. And who knows who rests in peace there? Maybe this is also related to the plot?
When Venser was taken to Mirrodin, he was working on making a skyship with planehopping abilities just like the Weatherlight. Maybe this is his skyship and Teferi and Jhoira decided to finish building it when Karn arrived?
And by the way. Anyone catch the the pic in the first post has been doctored/photoshopped over the artwork picture on page 4?
In the artwork pic on page 4 (from Twitter) we see 2 moons above Karn and the Weatherlight-style sky ship in the middle right (close to Karn's fist). Clouds have been changed as well. Wonder why they did so?

Crazy hypothesis: When Ajani meets Karn, invites him to join the Gatewatch, and explains to him about Nicol Bolas, maybe Karn proposes forging a new Legacy Weapon capable of stopping threats like Bolas and the Phyrexians? MTGS Wikia Article about "New World Order"
Every time I read a comment about "Well if this card had card draw/trample/haste/indestructible/hexproof/life gain...", I think "You're missing the point." They're armchair developer comments that fail to take into account the card's role in the greater Limited and Standard environment. No, it may not be as good as whatever card you're comparing it to. There's a reason for that. Not every burn spell is Lightning Bolt, nor does it need to be or should be.
PSA to everyone who keeps forgetting about the Reserved List:
You're on a website dedicated to talking about MtG. You're only a few keystrokes away from finding out what cards are on the Reserved List. You're also only a few keystrokes away from finding out why some cards on the Reserved List got foil printings in FtV, as Judge promos, or whatnot, as well as why that won't happen again. Stop doing this.

And of course each of the Gatewatch gets to contribute a piece to the New Legacy.
Better hypothesis: When Ajani meets Karn, invites him to join the Gatewatch, Karn tells Ajani to "Kiss my shiny metal @$$" and then goes and does it himself with the help of Teferi and Jhoira.

I wouldn't be surprised if they used the combined salvage from the wreckage of both Weatherlight and Predator to create a new skyship to lead the charge/defense against Bolas.

At this point it is safe to say, because Bolas.
It's because they realized they accidentally spoiled, that Bolas stole the moons that is what he needed the planar bridge for.
Joke aside, the background of the image is really interesting, there is a lot going on, with the ship the moon and the clouds, maybe they just turned all that stuff down for the headline version.

When Venser was taken to Mirrodin, he was working on making a skyship with planehopping abilities just like the Weatherlight. Maybe this is his skyship and Teferi and Jhoira decided to finish building it when Karn arrived?
Didn't know this detail. It's also possible, given the popularity of Venser among relatively recent players. The appearance of the ship is however that of a wreck left in open air, I imagine Venser was working on that project in a more appropriate place. Maybe his ship is the one that WarMachinePrime sees at the middle right of the image. But this is blind-guessing, I'm stopping here.
So do you guys think a new "Phyrexia Vs. Coalition" is on the horizon? With Bolas' armies and bridges, a coalition of planeswalkers/allies and, last missing piece, flying ships for extradimensional voyages (of Legacy-style objects and/or non-planeswalking people)?
If Vraska's deck was GB then there'd be no reason for her card to be mono-black. If she's mono-black because the deck is vampire-centric (thus WB), then there's no reason for them not to have spoiled Forsaken Sanctuary along with Cinder Barrens.
And the cards are numbered in order of the deck, Vraska first then Angrath, and there is no cards slot for a land in the numbering
There are two scenarios that allows for Vraska's deck to be either BG or WB despite what you have said here.
It is possible that the enemy coloured taplands are being reprinted in the set itself - this would allow for the deck to contain Foul Orchard or Forsaken Sanctuary despite the numbering you are referring to. Since Cinder Barrens is ally coloured, it appears at the end as usual.
The other possibility is that they've decided to put all the deck's lands at the end for some reason, all the other lands come after 'C'. I'm dubious that this is the case, however, since they have never done this before.
I suspect that this is unlikely - if they wanted to reprint these I don't know why they wouldn't have put the whole cycle in the Core Set - unless they wanted to split them for limited reasons (the original printings were in BFZ and SOI so there's precident for half of the cycles to be in separate sets.)
