This is better than the Unglued full art basics because of the sleek bordering on the bottom, and how there is no border on the sides. Wonder how much these will be per land though. I am guessing $10.

Early reports indicate the foil basics are 1 in every 3 to 4 boxes. Basically the rate of masterpieces. Prices are currently around $50 to $125 each. I have no idea what they will settle at.

As someone who collects foil basics, I find this notion horrifying.
I *really* hope this is not the case.

Still going to use my old-bordered foil-basics from 7th, invasion and that era. Much brighter, traditional and colorful than this force of will rip-off.
I'm SO SICK of the "too strong for Standard" argument. It's the new "Dies to removal". We can have a two mana 4/4 with a zillion abilities, but we can't just have Accumulated Knowledge. Makes sense.

Good god you realize how hipstery you come off? I know that the kneejerk reaction to a basic land that is potentially $75-$100 is to go with the older stuff, but these are really quite nice. The price isn't worth that for these lands, but they are still cool.

Seems to be confirmed at this point. I'm right there with you. I was pretty excited about Unstable, but this doesn't sit right with me. I'll probably do a draft, but I don't think I'll be buying a box like I was considering. I know WotC needs to make their money, but I don't want to feel like I'm supporting a cash grab like this for a side product. I won't discourage others from buying, but I don't think this is the product for me right now.
So there's no set symbol on these cards... and only the prefix to the collector number to identify them... maybe trialing another way to reuse cards as promos???

HAHAHAHAHA Most store I see have them pegged at $50-$60 at the moment. It seems that Foil urza, Urza (not foil) and Foil basicly are where all the money in the set it every other card/rare is worth less then the pack price.

Any non-basic land in this set having any sort of value would be surprising, considering nothing else can be used competitively. Even EHD-based value is shaky because of the uncertain future of silver-bordered cards in that format.

I don't get it. If you're not in love with something that a lot of people like, you're not allowed to express it because that makes you a hipster? Aten't people entitled to their opinions without being subjected to name calling?
I'm not too high on these either, personally. I guess I should keep my mouth shut about it. Though I prefer the Bradley cycle from BFZ, which must be the most pedestrian basics out there these days, so good luck tagging me too a hipster. I don't know, I just don't think these look enough like magic cards.

When I hit my 3000 post mark, I'm gone for good.
Stay reasonable, be mindful of your expectations and don't feed the trolls.
Look at the price of many the Foil Double-Sided tokens. They seem to be about $1+ each for half of them (Spirit, Zombie, Vampire, Angel, Dragon, Goblin). For being ~one in three to four packs, that is carrying value.

I call out hipster because it is obvious his response is a auto knee jerk to be on the contrary sake to be an cool guy mcfly individual post, rather than have anything constructive to say about the lands. If you genuinely don't like them, that's fine but it is really apparent when someone is disliking something just to try and be different.

Along with many mods, I've moved shop over to MTGNexus. Come check us out!
I played a draft tonight and saw someone crack open a foil Island and someone else crack an Urza. I cracked a Steamflogger Boss (yay?) but no one else cracked a foil basic. And they went thru 4 boxes.

I got one foil Swamp in my two boxes, and honestly I'm happy to flip it. The foiling really mutes the art's highlights; I think the nonfoils pop a lot more.

From that thread:

"We opened 252 boxes with 69 foil basics, so one foil basic in 3.5 boxes."
