Also once again you choose either team dinosaur, pirate, vampire, merfolk
The team that wins that tribe will get the golden city in the mtg story
(There's also going to be a voting on Facebook and twitter so you don't have to geocache to determine which main tribe of ixalan should get the city.) in other words this is going to be the great race and presidential debate mtg style.
Ofocarse the ending will always be jace (and possibly) vraska leaving ixalan.
I thought it was disengaging that such an important point of the story could be up in the air and inconsequential to the conclusion. It kinda makes the whole argument that the city be important entirely moot.
So I guess it means that the fate of the Eternal Sun is to be whisked away.

To be fair, I don't think the fate of the city and even possibly the Eternal Sun is unimportant to the fate of Ixalan
However it is likely that the fate of Ixalan is unimportant to the greater magic story, this is an isolated world with an anti-planeswalking device on it, its fully possible that after Jace and the other PWs escape that the Eternal Sun might be used to seal of the plane completely so that Bolas or whatever evil forces might want its power can't get it
While I understand the frustration that Ixalan is kind of like a filler story, I also like going to a plane for once that wasn't filled with references to other characters and planeswalkers, that I didn't think to myself, I wonder what they are gonna do in 5 years during Return to Ixalan, I don't mind Ixalan being a stand alone plane and a bit more of a stand alone story, its a nice change to have occasionally
I think its rather fun to end Ixalan with a "choose your own adventure ending". Much better use of an adventure world then Zenidkar.

To be completely fair, it seems as though it's hinted bolas was the winged being who brought the immortal sun there in the first place. It's an object of great power, and somehow it inhibits planeswalker energy so I'm thinking it's some kind of battery that stores planeswalker energy which bolas will absorb. We shall see.

This is going to be Mirrodin Pure vs New Phyreixa again. Winner was already chosen.
Except this time, they didn't make a whole set two years ahead of time that hinges on this decision. New Phyrexia was obviously made with Phyrexian victory already planned. The story as of Rivals of Ixalan still seems up in the air.
I think that this time, the choice really is in our hands, we just won't see it manifest on cards until the inevitable return to Ixalan. At most, it will probably determine which way the last story article goes (they probably wrote four alternate ending stories so we could choose which one happens).

That could be the case
And we can probably be allow to see all 4
In other words this sets story ending will be like the movie clue/tv show psych 100 clues
This is going to be Mirrodin Pure vs New Phyreixa again. Winner was already chosen.
Except they never said that we could effect the outcome during that time.

Considering there's an entire continent on Ixalan that we haven't even seen yet (it's not even on the map), I think I'd like a return if for no other reason than to have events take place on Torrezon, especially if those events involve the pirates attempting to take back their homeland from the vampire regime.
We already know that Sun will be taken by agent of Bolas. Who cares about the city?
Do we? This time, Bolas' plan seems far from foolproof, since he relies entirely on Vraska casting the spell at the right time. And remember that Jace, being the Guildpact, is capable of providing all that Bolas promised her. Jace randomly walking to Ixalan might, unlike the conscious effort of the whole Gatewatch, actually throw a wrench into Bolas' plans...

It's gonna be the "poor opressed pirates" who are clearly Creative's favorites by far. The voting will be as meaningless as supporting Mirrodin Pure was.
the idea that bolas was the winged beast who took the sun is pretty dumb from a storytelling standpoint.
A. the immortal sun inhibits planeswalkers from leaving ixalan, meaning that if bolas had taken it, he would still be trapped on ixalan
B. if bolas has some way of leaving ixalan despite the effect of the immortal sun, then why didn't he come and get it himself?
C. if he is the one who took the immortal sun in the first place and is somehow able to leave ixalan despite it's power then why didn't he take it with him in the first place?
it's pretty clear that bolas sent in vraska because he didn't want to even risk becoming trapped. the spell he gave her is probably a beacon which will allow tezzeret to hone in on her location and open a planar bridge. the planar bridge is likely unaffected by the immortal sun and can be used to transport it. once bolas has the immortal sun and the planar bridge together he will be able to trap/restrict planeswalker movement without having to impede his own ability to travel freely. the combination is actually pretty scary.
the sphinx/azor is pretty clearly the guardian. he stands atop a golden structure in front of what appears to be the immortal sun. if the winged beast is a planeswalker than they are still on ixalan. despite guarding the immortal sun i assume azor is also a prisoner to it.

Well we know bolas predicts all outcomes
But this case he has no idea jace ended up on ixalan
I think jace will explain everything to varsity then have a change of heart about bolas thing
Then due to her possibly gaining a crush on jace (how well they were bonding during the amnesia jace had which bolas gave him.) she will probably join the gate watch "Oath of Vraska."
braveswordwielder asked: It seems a little odd that Wizards is doing an “audience chooses the story” event (in the form of the Ixalan geotracking thing) after decades of saying that such a thing is logistically impossible. Doesn’t this kind of indicate that it doesn’t really matter who controls the Golden City at the end?
It’s not going to affect the card set. It’s going to affect the world. We wouldn’t see it impact the card set until we returned to the world.

Planar Chaos was not a mistake neither was it random. You might want to look at it again.

Once again geocaching will be happening in this.
But rivals of ixalan style
And also once again early previews

I was about to say, though what if a planeswalker (like Bolas) came and take the Sun away from the winner?
Shu Yun, the Silent Tempest WUR Voltron Control
Temmet, Vizier of Naktamun WU Unblockable Mirror Trickery
Ra's al Ghul (Sidar Kondo) and Face-Down Ninjas
Brudiclad, Token Engineer
Vaevictis (VV2) the Dire Lantern
Rona, Disciple of Gix
Tiana the Auror
Hallar
Ulrich the Politician
Zur the Rebel
Scorpion, Locust, Scarab, Egyptian Gods
O-Kagachi, Mathas, Mairsil
"Non-Tribal" Tribal Generals, Eggs
Wouldn't be too shocked if that's the case
Either Dinosaur due to being their home plane or pirate because of jace being on that team and he can easily figure out how to escape ixalan
I thought ugin was that theory

But on the other hand voting can be done as well so
Dinosaur has advantage of winning since that tribe is suposivly the most popular of the 4 on ixalan.

We don't know that actually. Vraska could very well change her mind.
