Whether fighting Phyrexians,
founding the Tolarian Academy,
or just enjoying retirement,
Urza always kept his head.
MaRo says: As many people are asking, if you activate Urza and you get an effect with no legal target, you get to reactivate. Urza does what he does but he’s not heartless. : ) #WotCStaff
stories-by-rfb asked: Does Urza('s head) appearing in Unstable hurt the chances of him being in a black-border set? MaRo answered:No. In fact, the Un-card being popular would probably up the chance of a black border version.
sigmasupreme asked: Is R&D happy that Urza's first planeswalker card ended up being in a un-set? Isn't it more fitting that Urza gets a card in black-border as well? MaRo answered:I gave Urza fans a chance to get a card and demonstrate their love for the character which would increase his chances of a black-bordered card.
mandramas asked: Do you plans to update Urza Headmaster abilities after the release? Do you plan to publish a table with all the abilities to play offline (probably you will need a d20)? MaRo answered: The plan is to change it from time to time. We will have an offline version for people to print up if they won’t have access to online.
sadly the site does not appear to be up, the only qualm I have with this card is if the site permanently goes down this card does nothing presumably since I assume he has random effects. Looks like I will need to write down all of them while I can Other than this I am super excited for this card, I know people wanted him in the return to dom set but he is very famously dead, and honestly it would be dumb for him to come back ala Superman style.

I really hate this design. I don't even know what he does because the website says we have to wait until Dec 8th, but I really hate that you have to even use a website. I want a wacky design that is self-contained, not one where I have to worry about my phone's battery and connection. This is a design fail for me (which is a shame because I love so much else about the set).
I just like that we got at least a glimpse into what he looks like. Have we gotten anything before this? The abilities are gonna be annoying in a place of bad reception but whatever.

Rest in RIP My Signature, I guess. 2015-2016, we hardly knew ye.
Total side note but I like how people are discussing running this over itself.
Well, it has to be said that Kolaghan is clearly better than Kolaghan. Considering what BR decks usually want and how stiff the competition in this guild is, there is no way that I would run Kolaghan over Kolaghan! Kolaghan might make it in as the sixth guild card or so. Kolaghan on the other hand ranks several places below that.
It was so funny to me when they described this as a downgrade to the original Zurgo during the Pax East panel. I was thinking if this is a downgrade, they should really "downgrade" all legendary creatures. Haha.
My deck designing is quite concise at this point:
1. Come up with deck idea
2. Realize this idea is somehow fundamentally similar to another deck I have or that is commonly played in my group
3. Decide I don't want to disassemble one of my existing decks
4. Give up and do nothing
I don't see the point of this new shroud mechanic. It's strictly worse than Hexproof. Threshold is pretty bad too, Delirium is a much better mechanic and probably easier to activate.
Otherwise this card is a pretty neat guy. Dodges removal and grows into a Primal Huntbeast. 3/5

... I take it you didn't play during Urza's or Invasion blocks? Urza has appeared on tons of card art.
I like the idea of Chaos Magic: the Planeswalker, but I wish that they had come up with a more visually appealing execution of the effect, and that they didn't use Urza of all characters as the testing ground.

I hate we have to use the website, but I like that we have an Urza that can do EVERYTHING Urza is capable of. Here's hoping that each option has a number of results that can be represented on a typical D&D die - 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, or 20, so that if one doesn't want to use their cellphone they can bring paper and dice.

I think this makes sense because Urza was all-powerful wasn't he? Having this to represent the plethora of abilities available to him is fine. I hope it's like 30 abilities and when you click it's a random algorithm that changes them.

Seriously. Although it's just his head so you could argue it's not a "real" version of Urza.
I'm not that familiar with the lore, did Urza have access to all five colors of mana? Or did old walkers just do whatever they wanted?

Oldwalkers were literally like gods. They were effectively beings made of mana that could assume any form. They had access to all five colors, but only a select number of them mastered using all of them.
Urza is five colors here because his personality is likely represented by all five.
