How are y'all missing the important part of this card? That's a mutha******* mech!
Also it's made of gold. Wild speculation here, but does this mean that the city of Orazca itself is alive?
Another important part: the flavour text is beautiful. I love the image of these tomb-raiders trying to Scrooge McDuck in that giant heap of gold and just falling flat on their faces, getting big dumb bruises (because of course you can't swim in coins). They don't even care how stupid they look because of how stupid rich they've become, and they end up making a silly victory dance, reveling in the little jingling noise of all the coins under their feet and in their pockets.
I expect we'll see WB Vampire, RW Dino, and GU Merfolk enchantments as well, but I'm not certain about BG. The Volrath's Stronghold suggestion is neat though. If it does happen, it'll be tied to Vraska.
MTGS Wikia Article about "New World Order"
Every time I read a comment about "Well if this card had card draw/trample/haste/indestructible/hexproof/life gain...", I think "You're missing the point." They're armchair developer comments that fail to take into account the card's role in the greater Limited and Standard environment. No, it may not be as good as whatever card you're comparing it to. There's a reason for that. Not every burn spell is Lightning Bolt, nor does it need to be or should be.
PSA to everyone who keeps forgetting about the Reserved List:
You're on a website dedicated to talking about MtG. You're only a few keystrokes away from finding out what cards are on the Reserved List. You're also only a few keystrokes away from finding out why some cards on the Reserved List got foil printings in FtV, as Judge promos, or whatnot, as well as why that won't happen again. Stop doing this.
It's sick that it transforms at end step instead of upkeep. Basically refunds your mana, leaving counter magic open on the opponent's turn. Then your turn comes around and you're crazy ahead.

Affinity could play it and flip it t4, maybe even t3. But then what do they do with all the extra mana? Is it worth it?
Not to mention how awful this is if you aren't close to flipping it or your board is swept.
Lantern? Again, not sure what they may want to do with all the extra mana, play that Sand something X tap mill X artifact?
I don't think it's worth their troubles
Maybe some Cheerios deck? Maybe some new deck pops out of this! Some Tezzeret deck seems possible...
As a first impression, I think this will be more like Growing Rites of Itlimoc, and it will be tough for it to find a home.
The one I can't believe hasn't been broken yet it Dowsing Dagger, that 3 mana ramp after striking with 1 pumped up dude seems so powerful.
What a terrible card. Way to sh*t on the greatest land ever printed, Wizards...
GOAT is a bold statement. And this is coming from someone who played the deck. Academy was, and still is, busted, to be sure. But the GOAT? I dunno. That title prolly has to belong to Strip Mine.
Seems like tons of fun in something like the Grixis Thopters deck that just Top 8'd a GP. All that's missing is suitable mana sinks (Walking Ballista is the obvious first thought) for when you're able to quickly flip it.

"The true measure of all heroes is not what they achieve, but who they inspire." —Triumph of Gerrard
Two thoughts : Guys we are going to have a Tolarian Academy effect in the same standard as an artifact block, second "How long till some dumb vintage brewer does Workshops with this in it and manages to get Academy and this Active on turn one?
arg, why did you have to be Red! my dimir artifact EDH would of loved this :/.
Because red is also an artifact-matters color.
Yep, these days, artifacts go:
Blue
Red (more sacrifice and recursion than anything, also a focus on equipment)
White (mostly focus on equipment, but white also gets some recursion and tutoring with artifacts, and a few "artifact or enchantment things")
Black
Green
Green actually has more interaction with artifacts, but it's almost universally negative.
And it's probably part of a cycle of two-color flip lands.
The Dimir one will probably be
t: Add C to your mana pool.
2UB, t: Put the top four cards of your library into your graveyard. If you reveal one or more creature cards this way, create a 2/2 black Zombie creature token.

Card advantage is not the same thing as card draw. Something for 2B cannot be strictly worse than something for BBB or 3BB. If you're taking out Swords to Plowshares for Plummet, you're a fool. Stop doing these things!
Have fun EDH players. Vintage players, duck and cover. Standard players, please don't make anyone at Wizards cry.
But this is not good enough for Modern. 4 man's and two colors is not where people want this effect to be. If it were colorless, or even just one color Tron might be curious, but this is not something Tron can support, Affinity is too fast to care, and unless it makes a new defk, which I don't see, the only way a Modern player will care about this is if they play another format or as trade fodder.
Don't get me wrong, I am not saying it's bad, it could be quite good, but it's bad in Modern.

I don't know much about the lore, why does it being made out of gold mean that it could be alive?
I think what SapraZANY is getting at is that Orazca isn't merely a dormant city; the treasure is guarding itself.

Turn 5: Spell Swindle a 3-5 mana spell.
There is, of course, jade mixed in there, which means a probable River Heralds contrivance.

You can play it in Silas Renn. Just add a partner like everyone else.
Care to expand on that, at least in the context of Standard?
If you read his Silas Renn deck thread, he deliberately avoided giving Silas a partner.
Affinity could play it and flip it t4, maybe even t3. But then what do they do with all the extra mana? Is it worth it?

It's Tolarian Academy 2.0, and blue has always cared the most about artifacts, so yeah.
Combine that with red also caring about artifacts (but to a lesser extent than blue) and the apparent pirate theme, and Izzet it is.

Another budget version of it
Yea......vintage
But for every thing else wrong again.
Same problem as the budget cradle it can't be used the moment it pops out
too slow for everything but vintage due to the mox sapphire, mox ruby and mana vault and two more 0 cost artifacts
Breya is The one and only deck that can break this
It's way way way too slow for modern affinity they die before you even get the time to cast it.

i better see this as the white one
And black better be budget Volrath's Stronghold or Phyrexian Tower
