Well, if the goal is to have a playable Limited, then cards like this really are necessary. The flavor is wacky, although I'd prefer a little something Un- about it, like adding "Take a bow" to the cost.
So they made a functional reprint of a boring card that already has lots of functional reprints and put it in an Un-Set? This is the first time I've ever hated a card. I get that there has to be functional remotely normal cards for enjoyable gameplay, but atleast make them atleast little interesting. (Feel free to ignore this if I'm missing a joke or point out the joke.)
Silly yet functional for play even if it isn't that out there. This is what the backbone should be for un-sets. That way we can have the more outlandish stuff like Baron Von Count and Split Screen that while still are functional don't have to bear the brunt of the responsibility.
You don't call "dying to removal" if the removal is more expensive in resources than the creature. If you have to spend BG (Abrupt Decay), or W + basic land (PtE) to remove a 1G, that is not "dying to removal". Strictly speaking Goyf dies to removal, but actually your removal is dying to Goyf.
I get that this card is there to make a better limited format and I have not problem with it existing. But why spoil it on day 4 instead of when the full set drops? There's nothing interesting about it mechanically at all, and the flavor is good but not good enough to carry the card as an exciting spoiler. Why the hell would they spoil this before the other two faction leaders or the silver border planeswalker?
I personally love the card. the flavor is fantastic and honestly was needed to balance the format. I like that they spoiled this early to give us an idea that this format is going to actually be a stable draft unlike other unset drafts. - pun was not intended but im leaving it-
I'm glad for this card simply cause I was hoping to see some self-parody/joking of the main magic canon. Those they could give it the type "actor", "performer" "player" "bard" "auteur" etc.

“There are no weak Jews. I am descended from those who wrestle angels and kill giants. We were chosen by God. You were chosen by a pathetic little man who can't seem to grow a full mustache"
"You can tell how dumb someone is by how they use Mary Sue"
Yeah, some extra part of the activated ability to make it more "un" would be appreciated. Even just like, "read a card's flavor text" or something. Wouldn't impact the function but it'd help it fit more besides some, admittedly amusing, flavor text and art. I'm guessing they're over-correcting from Unhinged's gotcha mechanic and how it made some players clam up and stop talking.
I feel like this should have been the place for a card that interacts with augments, even if that meant adding a mana cost to the activation. The card already exists multiple times in black-border, so making it relevant in limited feels like it'd have been a better use of space. Though given the difficulties in making augments work in limited, I could understand a steep activation cost here, like 4 or so.
If any of the cards in the set bother me, it's this one. Crow Storm is a joke that should have been made during Time Spiral but works here. This is just an already existing silver-shifted, black-border card. I hope that this is the only one and exists to gauge feedback for future unsets.
I do understand that limited needs pieces to make it work well and this does at least put niche removal into the main deck. This lets more slots in a booster draft go to contraptions which need multiple picks in order to work. I get that and can accept this as a cost of contraptions existing. Last-pick joke Demystify variant can't fit into a set where 2 slots of every booster are going to be Contraptions.
I was excited for this set because in unsets every card, even commons, have to do something out of the box. What is this? This is not acceptable.
Make it have "This card has every watermark." or "If you are wearing a costume, gain 3 life." or ANYTHING, really. I came up with this after a minute of pondering. Surely something that's been in design for 10 years or something could come up with something better than a god damn functional reprint.

As a rule, if you can come up with something "better" in under five minutes, it's probably nowhere near as good in practice.

Check out the thread for my cube if you have the time, and tell me how terrible it is.
Generals meant to be drafted first in a single pack of 6 cards.
And here is the actual cube, meant to be drafted in 4 regular sized packs. (60 card decks)
I guess sets just need this effect? It could at least have it hit Augments though, I thought the whole point was to have a set that they couldn't do in black border. The flavour and art aren't particularly wacky either, it could easily be a street performer in Ravnica (actually how does he know about Ravnica-ian politics?).
This card represents the main thing that separates Unstable from Unhinged. An Unhinged version of this card probably would have one of the silly gimmicks suggested in this thread, but the more "normal" structure of Unstable takes some of the focus of the humor off of goofy mechanics and puts it more on art and flavor text, which are hilarious, by the way.
I understand the need to print normal cards, but I do think they could've played around with aspects of the card other than functional info.
For example, they could use these normal cards to experiment with the card frame in various ways, like having the name and mana cost switch places on the card, or resizing the text box to fit the size of the effect.
They could even add or subtract things to see what kind of impact that makes. Imagine one of these cards that has an extra attribute, like "Rank," that doesn't mean anything on its own but can be referrenced by other cards in the set, or a creature that's missing a creature type.
I think that's the joke. That they keep functionally reprinting this exact friggin' card.
I like this interpretation too.
Ronom Unicorn is the best version of this, though cat version does make a bid because cat. I get that the spirits are functionally relevant, but they're unappealing in the vacuum.

I would have been fine with something as little as a Ravnica watermark for this off-plane card.

Planar Chaos was not a mistake neither was it random. You might want to look at it again.

Nothing really silver-bordered about this, but I guess they needed more simple cards?

This must be the joke, as it is an exact description of the card and is a complete riff on a functionally equivalent card (Kami of Ancient Law).
I hate the Very Cryptic Command.
