The Grand Calcutron WU
Legendary Artifact (mythic)
When The Grand Calcutron enters the battlefield, each player's hand becomes a program (an ordered row of revealed cards).
Players can only play the first card of their program.
If a card would be put into a player's hand from anywhere, that player reveals it and places it anywhere within his or her program instead.
At the beginning of each player's end step, if that player's program has fewer than five cards, he or she draws cards equal to the difference.
Well, kinda. Prowling Serpopard actually got revealed about 30 minutes before Robo tweeted about it. I guess they actually meant to tweet it earlier before the article came out.

Could I change order of cards in my hand in response?
Also, do you realize this thing was mentioned on Nothing Can Stop Me Now scheme card years ago?
From the looks of things, it seems that once this is out, you can't reorganize your hand (since there's now an order to it). Until it's actually on the battlefield I imagine you could reorder your hand however you want before it resolves.

I'd interpret it that each player chooses the order of cards when their hand becomes the program, but I guess we'll have to wait for some clarification from MaRo...
I just now realized this card actually references RoboRally, a board/card game that Richard Garfield created in the 1980s that was finally published in the early 90s - you used "program cards" to move. This card basically turns a game of Magic into a game of RoboRally. (Wizards even still has the rules for RoboRally on its website!)
I wonder if the "Players can only play the first card of their program." text means you are forbidden to play cards that are not in the program (like Flashback spells) or if it only affects the program cards.
Yeah, the card doesn't explicitly say you can't reorganize cards in your hand, but it implies it. I am going to reorganize cards in response to this, or just might concede basically in draft, as I don't want the game to control how i organize cards in my hand. This isn't fun.
Edit: Does this even do anything? Once you play the first card, the second card becomes the first card, then you go up to five cards. Weird stuff.

That look like the case. As long as a card isn't the first card in the program, it appears that Calculatron won't let you play it. It's weird in that it's a "can't" ability worded as if it were a "can" ability.

Rest in RIP My Signature, I guess. 2015-2016, we hardly knew ye.
Total side note but I like how people are discussing running this over itself.
Well, it has to be said that Kolaghan is clearly better than Kolaghan. Considering what BR decks usually want and how stiff the competition in this guild is, there is no way that I would run Kolaghan over Kolaghan! Kolaghan might make it in as the sixth guild card or so. Kolaghan on the other hand ranks several places below that.
It was so funny to me when they described this as a downgrade to the original Zurgo during the Pax East panel. I was thinking if this is a downgrade, they should really "downgrade" all legendary creatures. Haha.
My deck designing is quite concise at this point:
1. Come up with deck idea
2. Realize this idea is somehow fundamentally similar to another deck I have or that is commonly played in my group
3. Decide I don't want to disassemble one of my existing decks
4. Give up and do nothing
I don't see the point of this new shroud mechanic. It's strictly worse than Hexproof. Threshold is pretty bad too, Delirium is a much better mechanic and probably easier to activate.
Otherwise this card is a pretty neat guy. Dodges removal and grows into a Primal Huntbeast. 3/5
Yep, total RoboRally reference. That + Telepathy + casting restriction is, from the perspective of this 'lockdown Control' player, awesome. The clincher of the reference is the 'draw to 5', which IIRC also happens in RoboRally.
Also note that in Limited, it's a Mythic... very unlikely to see play.

It's an ETB trigger, and doesn't take effect before it leaves the stack. I imagine the expanded rules text (such as it is in an un-set) would clarify that choosing the order of your cards is included in the process of creating the program, as well, since the nature of your hand can be kind of abstract. Your cards could be mid-flick, or in two piles, or in a circle.
Unrelatedly, note that it says "play" and not "cast", so it does prevent you from dropping lands if they're buried in the queue.
It would be fun to see cards that let you reprogram your hand. Infinite loops or some sort of really disgusting recursion. JMP to a card. INC to the next card. Oooh...oooh... to NOP your opponent. :
I confess, when I saw this title, I thought it was an oblique reference to Megatron and HP-35 love child.

The evil part of me is cackling at the perspective of building a filthy deck around this fellow with aids such as Scroll Rack or Alms Collector. I somehow don't think that people will let me whip out a completely illegal un-legend (not even a creature!) if I promise them misery though, now will they...
I want to say this references Shandalar's AI being so, so bad, but I don't think it was that bad.

Card advantage is not the same thing as card draw. Something for 2B cannot be strictly worse than something for BBB or 3BB. If you're taking out Swords to Plowshares for Plummet, you're a fool. Stop doing these things!

I would never want to see this in normal Magic but in Un-Commander, it would be perversely fun in its dickishness.
