If a hypothetical white one was going to be Kinjalli, this one should have been Ixalli (and a red one Tilonalli).
The fact that this is named Ghalta and not Ixalli makes it highly unlikely that a white elder Dinosaur would be named Kinjalli, as representing the three aspects of the sun is probably all or nothing.
Be still my Timmy heart - this is basically Phyrexian Dreadnought, come back to us, as a commander. Could there also be Elder Dinos for red and white? God I hope so.
Seems a little vanilla for a Timmy card, though. I'd say it does hit the intersection of Timmy (big stompy RAWR!) and Spike (potentially for only GG).

Card advantage is not the same thing as card draw. Something for 2B cannot be strictly worse than something for BBB or 3BB. If you're taking out Swords to Plowshares for Plummet, you're a fool. Stop doing these things!

The unfortunate thing about this card is that it likely will see play in non-dinosaur decks right now more than actual dinosaur decks, though at least it might give some extra oomph to decks not running an energy package. I'd expect this card to hit turn 4-5 pretty reliably in a mid-range build.

1. (Ravnica Allegiance): You can't keep a good esper control deck down... Or Wilderness Reclamation... or Gates...
2. (War of the Spark): Guys, I know what we need! We need a cycle of really idiotic flavor text victory cards! Jace's Triumph...
3. (War of the Spark): Lets make the format with control have even more control!
And if they have a Prowling Serpopard on the field and mana open for a Heroic Intervention? Besides, they always have Carnage Tyrant. And that's assuming there aren't cards in RIX that make Dinosaurs uncounterable and indestructible. Not to mention they can use Arcane Adaptation to turn their Dinosaurs into Merfolk.
MTGS Wikia Article about "New World Order"
Every time I read a comment about "Well if this card had card draw/trample/haste/indestructible/hexproof/life gain...", I think "You're missing the point." They're armchair developer comments that fail to take into account the card's role in the greater Limited and Standard environment. No, it may not be as good as whatever card you're comparing it to. There's a reason for that. Not every burn spell is Lightning Bolt, nor does it need to be or should be.
PSA to everyone who keeps forgetting about the Reserved List:
You're on a website dedicated to talking about MtG. You're only a few keystrokes away from finding out what cards are on the Reserved List. You're also only a few keystrokes away from finding out why some cards on the Reserved List got foil printings in FtV, as Judge promos, or whatnot, as well as why that won't happen again. Stop doing this.

Carnage Tyrant is a threat on its own.
Also, it's a good thing that there are potential answers to this Elder Dino.
Potentially usable in Mono Green Stompy in Modern?
I don't know if it will be any good, but I am sure as heck going to try! Bonus, it makes Scooze even better for us! This could be the card we needed to be a serious deck.
Turn 1: Experiment One
Turn2: Dryad Militant + Rancor on E1 (6 power)
Turn 3: Rancor on Militant and attack. Cast mutagenic growth on one of them (10 power). Vines of Vastwood/Blossoming Defense if necessary and postpone the dinozilla. If not, drop the dinozilla.
or
Play it on turn 4 with creature back-up to get it probably removed.
My verdict: He requires too much work in modern stompy.
Commander stuff.

I don't see it as a 'drop it as soon as possible' card. I think that it's for the decks that keep removing our stuff and then stall the game, win slowly, this stops them from stalling with chumps. Turn 5-6, you should have the power to test with a creature, then drop this if the coast is clear.
Besides, what kills this? Push doesn't, burn doesn't, Dismember doesn't.....so Path and wipes, but our deck already has a brutally hard time with wipes. This isn't part of our aggro plsn, this is a good late game that doesn't impede the rest of our plan. It's like Scooze, play it, if it helps, great, if it eats removal, fine.

I really want to agree with you because paying in creature power instead of mana is such a freebie for a deck like our Stompy...
And on second thought I think I can give it a try in a 3+ Dungrove Elder list with 21 forests. Dungrove can help him drop more reliably than other more removal prone creatures.
Having said that, it still looks like it has narrow playability unless we play mutagenic growths and build around it. That is, if it is good against slow decks only.

Really?
I knew from the very beginning rivals of ixalan will get dinosaur cards for two reasons
1# the "rivals of ixalan." Booster box for image is haulti with one of her velociraptors in the golden city
2# star of extinction is not story related and Maro confirmed that this is not happening in ixalan. It was just a nightmare a character was having.

I can definitely see this being standard playable. I doubt it'll be a 4 of in many decks, but I can see a 2-3 in anything that runs big beats.
