That's an actual reprint in the set? Nice. I really liked the alternate costs for this cycle back in Lorwyn-block and wouldn't be disappointed to see more of these for Dinosaurs, Vampires and Pirates as well.
Notable and always nice to see is that they don't let themselves get restricted by proper names that used to be plane-specific but easily could be used on multiple planes because the phrases are made up of more generic words.

Planar Chaos was not a mistake neither was it random. You might want to look at it again.
[thread=239793][Game] Level Up - Creature[/thread]
Would be interesting as heck to see this card pull a Gainsay and appear in multiple cycles across its printings - the others could be like: W - Vampire B - Pirate R - Dinosaur G - ?Human?

I would think green would get the Dinosaur, being the core Dino color.

MTGS Wikia Article about "New World Order"
Every time I read a comment about "Well if this card had card draw/trample/haste/indestructible/hexproof/life gain...", I think "You're missing the point." They're armchair developer comments that fail to take into account the card's role in the greater Limited and Standard environment. No, it may not be as good as whatever card you're comparing it to. There's a reason for that. Not every burn spell is Lightning Bolt, nor does it need to be or should be.
PSA to everyone who keeps forgetting about the Reserved List:
You're on a website dedicated to talking about MtG. You're only a few keystrokes away from finding out what cards are on the Reserved List. You're also only a few keystrokes away from finding out why some cards on the Reserved List got foil printings in FtV, as Judge promos, or whatnot, as well as why that won't happen again. Stop doing this.
I believe you're right. Interesting how they chose to reprint this card despite that fact. When I consider the chance for reprints in a set I usually exclude cards that reference specific ties to planes other than the one in question.
I can't say I'm mad about it because it's obviously a good card, but very interesting choice.
Silvergill, like Brighthearth, is composed of terms generic enough that they conceivably could be used on other planes. Sejiri Merfolk, on the other hand, is definitely Zendikar-only.

True but it is interesting to see the crossover as the composition of generic terms is still unique enough.
The card is by faaaar the worst in Merfolk & just bad anyway.
Are you serious? Cursecatcher is one of the best one drop merfolk printed (if not THE best). In modern at least, it's very unusual to not see a 2 or 4 of mainboard. You obviously have no idea what you're talking about
Cursecatcher would be a valid reprint opportunity. I expect it to show up in any suplemental product really, because it just would make a lot of people really happy to get more of them or the bunch of them cheaper. It's a really basic versatile effect on a popular and even competitive creature type.
True but it is interesting to see the crossover as the composition of generic terms is still unique enough.
This specific combination? If you say so.
More generally speaking the formula <material><body part> is just one of the most basic naming schemes to use for by-names of anthropomorphic animals or fantastic animals in general. Hello, Sensei Golden-Tail. How are you, Opal-Eye? You tell me there is another school on Lorwyn like that, Paperfin Rascal? Well, if it's so common, you can name me even one planeswalker following that naming scheme? Oh, Ajani Goldmane is one of the Lorwyn Five...
I don't know.
If you count descriptive objects as materials, then Lorwyn's dark pendant itself has Razorfin Abolisher which actually itself reuses as name for its group the composition that already appeared on Razorfin Hunter all the way back from Apocalypse. Considering that some phonetic combinations sound just better together, I don't know how many unique gill-named by-names there really are.
Silvergill, like Brighthearth, is composed of terms generic enough that they conceivably could be used on other planes. Sejiri Merfolk, on the other hand, is definitely Zendikar-only.
There's a difference between logic and expectation. Having a silvergill on another plane is technically thinkable, but kind of jarring. It's a bit of an immersion breaker because you pull out and look at the thing on a meta level.
As an aside, it's also perfectly conceivable that words like "Sejiri" show up on other planes. Just look at the english word 'fart' and the german word 'Fahrt'. They have completely different meanings but are close enough phonetically that an outsider might transcribe them the same way. Again, logic vs expectations.

Wonder how hard prices will tank on this at uncommon.
Isn't Silvergill one of the tribe name of the Lorwyn merfolk?
