The two plant tokens your opponent will receive notwithstanding, it won't be difficult to use this equipment to trigger its transformation. It probably won't make the grade for Standard--too many ways to remove the equipped creature or the equipment itself--but in Sealed/Limited it should be really good.
Don't know about anyone else, but I'm going to equip this on my Siren Stormtamer on turn 3 and get a Lotus Vale without having to sac two untapped lands.
This says "combat" damage, by the way, so unless I am missing something in regards to what you all are suggesting, it has no usefulness with Walking Ballista...
I think Walking Ballista synergizes just as a mana sink that also can take blockers out of the way for your evasive creatures.
The comments of how the recent sets are dedicating more and more slots to commander decks start to have basis in reality. This card is completely tailored for multiplayer commander. Sure, maybe someone can find a way to make this work in 1v1 constructed, but doesn't seem great giving your opponent two free blockers. And you would need the land for a ramp deck, but then you need a creature to attack with it, etc. In short, card is all over the place, but will be funny in commander.
As a sidenote, first wizards let pterodactyls slide as dinosaurs, now they're giving support to the pseudoscience of dowsing? tsk, tsk. Is WoTC trolling scientists? heh (though to be fair some people that 'defend' dowsing claim that it works with leylines, which is pure nonsense in the real world, but they do exist in Magic and... oh, leyline reprints incoming?)

Sure, maybe someone can find a way to make this work in 1v1 constructed, but doesn't seem great giving your opponent two free blockers.
This may be revolutionary thinking here, but... build your deck primarily with creatures that can't be blocked by those blockers? Unblockable, flying, daunt, protection, intimidate/fear...

Plants don't have reach and Birds of Paradise has flying. Having trouble thinking of other mana dorks with evasion but this has enough potential to get out of hand when you start untapping it with Garruk Wildspeaker that it might be worth the trouble.
Who cares for this Dagger if now I can play real Lotus Vale with moon without the drawback
Without the benefits either.
1- You can destroy/bounce your moon. No drawback when already in play.
2- Can work as control, if your opponent destroy your moon, it will free you a dark depth or a lotus vale

Plus lotus value errata was years ago and is not a enters the Battlefield effect anyway
Today's Magus of the Moon rule change announcement turns off as-enters-the-battlefield replacement effects (which is what Vale has now). Meaning that under a Moon, you don't sacrifice lands to play Lotus Vale anymore (while a Blood Moon or Magus of the Moon is on the battlefield). That is the new part, and that is why people are talking about it. ETB triggers were already neutered by Moon before today, it's the replacement effects that are nullified now too.

This card will see play, in both standard and non-rotating formats. For a guy who complains as much as you do, I'd think you would be a bit more creative instead of writing off cards during spoiler season. 0/2 ground bodies mean absolutely nothing when they're staring down Tron-esque mana generation on turn 3.
There is absolutely no reason for this to not be flipped turn-2 with proper support. This isn't Sin Prodder level of support needed, and the payoff is quite powerful. It allows you to Cancel the next spell, I picture this slotting into UW control shell but with a higher creature count. Sticking this on Spiketail Hatchling for instance. It has serious potential.
With Sigarda's Aid rotating out when this rotates in I can't see the T2 flip in Standard. But that would set it up in Modern / Commander / Casual. Not sure about the 'proper support' clause, but Sigarda's Aid and an Ornithopter T1, drop this T2 and it autoattaches to the Ornitoper, which connects and flips this...

I am actually curious. Could you tell me how to flip this turn 2 with proper support?
See below, with Aid/Ornithopter, but beyond that, ramping 3 at any stage of the early game by connecting with a utility dude is gravy. The land Eb's untapped for protection. I like it. It may need a little more support to get consistent turn-2 flips, but that is exactly what brewing is for ;).

Affinity:
Turn 1 : Ornithopter, land , drums, this
Turn 2 : land, equip to thopter, swing in for the flip.
requires a nut draw of Thoper, two lands, this and drums. But hardly not achievable.
Vehicles all the way & please abolish old-fashioned equipments, which noone plays anyway
And I'm aware Aid is rotating, but really, this is busted. 0/2 tokens for the opponent won't matter when your dropping 6cmc bombs on turn 3...
This is supposed to go on a creature, into your opponent's face. DUH!

ETB don't have effects now with Moon on play, same will happen with Humility.
