I would have been stoked if they printed a lot of memorable stuff like the Portal 2 Nightstalkers at common / uncommon. Piracy would be really fun, Goblin War strike, etc.

Rishadan Port. Wow, that brings back memories. That card would be rather broken in modern right now. Actually, it would be one of the most annoying weapons against tri-color decks because locking them out of even one of their splash colors can be pretty nasty.
You do know you can activate the fetch land in response, right?

It's about time for the reserved list to die, for the sake of Vintage and Legacy (And Commander).

So, you've probably never used it that way before, then. That's fine. I'm not going into it too deeply because it is rather tricky to do, but yes you can stop a fetch with a port. It mostly just delays them from using it a turn, though, and once you've done it the chances of pulling it off again in the game can get hectic.

as far as im concern rares/mythic almost impossible not pulling a good one
and commons/uncommons are not so iconic
now you excuse me im going back to mtg version of jurassic park for card previews next week.
Well, I mean there's nothing horrible about the cards themselves, it's just the pack price being 10 msrp and the booster box being 240 msrp for 24 is just bad because no one realistically pays 240 for them. Maybe late comers who jump in a year after the release, but even then the prices will probably not be at 240 usd per box. Wizards is convinced that they must print older cards like they are mint gold and this drives deck brewers and even limited players away from ever purchasing their product directly.

Wizards does what hasbro says. Which is make money. MTG is the best performing product for Hasbro.
As far the value again its 370/box before foils at TODAYS prices. Lots of those will drop significantly but still this will be crazy good value anyway
It really depends. How much of the value of some of these cards is due to scarcity vs. amount being played. Damnation's price was crushed mainly because it was more about lack of supply than actual demand. The card is played in EDH, and that's about it. But certain cards like Aether Vial will always hold a high price because of how powerful and versatile it is in jut about every format it's legal in.
What made MMA so incredible is that so many of its rares will forever hold value because they're in demand. While Flusterstorm is an incredibly powerful card, I just don't see the demand warranting anything more than a $30 pricetag, if that. Even the Future Sight lands I can't see maintaining anything even remotely close to what they are now. Cryptic Command will continue to be expensive, Thoughtseize will continue to be expensive, etc. but so many of these cards aren't cards I can't see holding even remotely close to their current prices. However, I look at MM2 and a ton of those cards have bounced back up to stupid prices, so who knows.
I think wizards planned for that. They reprinted a TON of first time reprints knowing it will basically bring these boxes to MSRP in value since people will open them until they get there. But certainly on release date it WILL be profitable just to crack packs and sell the contents.
Anyone have any idea how low will Glimpse the Unthinkable drop? I just sold a playset for $21 each expecting them to settle at around $10 or so. I sure hope I didn't screw myself over.

Isn't it ironic how so many players complain about evil money-grabbing WotC/hasbro when they themselves talk about 'value' in buying Magic cards every time a new set comes out? Like, it's a game. You don't get 'value' out of buying a video game or board game, a movie or a book. When did the Magic playerbase turn a game into a stock market?

The problem is that we know what these cards are worth and don't feel like paying $10 for a Sphinx of Uthuun, a Rift Bolt, and a foil Scion of Ugin in the same pack (and that's what most packs will be like). That's why people complain about these sets. Boosters are usually at best a fun little gamble, but $4 is much easier to justify than $10 for the same risk, if not greater, and when you spend $10 to get the same $1 card(s) you could in a $4 pack then it becomes far worse. What becomes a fun little time of cracking a pack becomes a "Ho boy, I hope I didn't just buy a Path of Bravery for an extra $9.50"
This set, like other Masters sets before it, have no reason being $10 a pack. We'll see stores still bump up the price of boosters because people want to get that foil Mana Drain that'll be worth $400, but more often than not you'll be paying x5-x10 more for the cards you received in your booster.
When it comes to reprint sets they have to be able to make it worth the money, because we know what the cards cost at the time. Conspiracy sets do this great with only half the set dedicated to reprints, but with Masters sets they keep choosing to make them subpar. I thought they had learned with MM3, as it wasn't a total crapshoot, but they go ahead and not only miss the point of ICONIC but also make an incredibly boring looking set that offers very little, and that's not strictly talking about monetary value, outside of higher than MSRP boosters and $50 drafts. Why can Conspiracy do reprints better than the other product line that is strictly made for reprints?
That's a fairly good price to sell at. There really isn't too much of a push to play Mill in Modern just yet.
I am actually just shocked that the price for a single copy of that any Surgical Extraction are both so high right now. They were both 5-8 a piece or so when I bought in for mill.
Would you be sad if it stayed the same or went up?

Wanted -Zombie Foils and older expensive Zombie stuff. High Priority- Beta Z Master/ Int. Collector's Edition.
I might be a bit sad if they up but I doubt that will happen. The only reason Glimpse is that expensive is because the supply is extremely low which IMA should, hopefully, address.
Imagine my surprise when I found out my $3.5 Surgical Extractions became $20 a piece.

I was given some words of hope by a #WOTCSTaff that after the missed opportunity of an Angel Tribal deck in Commander 2017 that this Masters might offer me some comfort... and all I see is akin to seeing a fast food joint's menu picture and seeing the actual serving.
Other than the Angels revealed feeling BLAH.... not even a new art for the tribe? (no, that Restoration Angel is NOT new art) Archangel of Thune and Firemane Angel could've rocked some new art.
ICONIC Creatures, HA... the Dragons seems to be the only "Iconic Creature Type" that benefited from this. And they just got a huge meal from Commander 2017!
Here's hoping the Rule of Threes doesn't ring true and Dominaria delivers something.

ETB effects don't trigger after Iconic Masters release.
ETB effects didn't trigger under a Moon, even before this change. Abilities triggered on a land entering the battlefield (like, say, Khalni Garden's token creation) were suppressed by Moons before, too.
The change is that as-enters-the-battlefield clauses no longer occur either. Now, that Khalni Garden still doesn't make a Plant - but now it doesn't enter the battlefield tapped either.

I looked at the spoilers and I counted 45 rares/mythics I'd be sad to open. so that's like 70%? I'll probably draft it once on release and that's it.
