I think they actually hit the right cards. The majority of players playing today never got to use the older cards from pre-modern days and many started at the twilight days of Scars block going into Innistrad -> RTR -> Theros. The older cards they threw in there are ones that keep getting a lot of spot lights put on them by various media such as deck lists. What I'm most surprised by is the lack of the Theros god cards. I was expecting to see them in the set because despite their lower MSRP they are pretty popular.
They got the rares and mythic section right (besides channel since that's banned in everything but vintage.)
But as for commons and uncommon they are apparently stupid enough not to include lightning bolt and counterspell
Heck they could have reprinted force of will again in This since it's they best couterspell known (I still considered mana drain better though.)

Did we get the full list for uncommons and commons? I only saw a few since people were too busy spotlighting their Praetors and Yosei's.

Oh you diden't know?
At hascon they said
What the hey let's just show The Whole iconic masters set at hascon.
Ah okay, I was looking at some spoiler sites and they had only posted images of some of the cards that got opened. I didn't notice that there was an entire list already published as well.
Great, now I feel like I just got caught with my hand in the cookie jar.

Even better, they'll be posting a visual spoiler early next week. MaRo said that he believes it is released Monday, but that he wasn't 100% sure. It may come as late as Wednesday, but it will be released next week.

It's about time for the reserved list to die, for the sake of Vintage and Legacy (And Commander).
Doubt it. Unlike Rishadan Port, the other cards you listed are actually really, really, good.
Actually, Rishadan Port is at least on par with all of them.
Nah, it lost a lot of power with the sixth edition change, and more when mana burn got removed. You're basically mana depleting yourself to reduce your opponents mana by one for a turn, and that is if they don't chose to cast an instant in response. It's an over valued card that isn't all that good.
You don't actually play this game, do you?

I do, but unless your opponent is playing a land that taps for more than one mana, you are using two mana to deprive them of one.

The Sixth Edition change happened before Rishadan Port was released. The removal of mana burn actually made Rishadan Port better, because mana generated during the upkeep step could no longer be used during the draw step. Rishadan Port has always been busted.
Looking over the set I can see that the usual Masters curse is in play here. We see all of the amazing stuff up front and then the last 85-90% is oh so bad.
1. Why are most of the cards seemingly from Zendikar-Innistrad forward? Yes, there are some older cards, but they are certainly in the minority. I suppose Innistrad forward is far more "iconic" than many before that.
2. There are not many noticeable cards below rare, and that's not even talking about value. The most noticeable cards I can see among commons/uncommons is Rift Bolt, Lightning Helix, Wall of Roots(?), Mishra's Bauble, Thran Dynamo, and.....that's about it unless you have a personal preference towards any other card(s).
2a. Value goes along with #2. There is not much there to be had below rare and mythic. I think Bauble and Dynamo are probably it when it comes to value.
3. Some of the rares are rather groan worthy. Did we, or this limited format, really need another Sphinx of Uthuun or yet another printing of the Ravnica karoos? A personal gripe is yet again Swords to Plowshares and not Path to Exile.
4. I don't know much about Pauper, but there doesn't seem to be anything all that great that was bumped down to common.
5. Most of the notable dragon related cards being printed here were printed in the recent Commander set, making some of these reprints unneeded and redundant.
6 Extra. I honestly can't see some of the draft themes. I can see +1/+1 counters, dragons, and defenders, but that's about it.
Overall this set looks to have the same quality as Eternal Masters, possibly worse, and that was barely better than MM2, the worst Masters set yet.
Right now I would most likely rank them as. MM1 > MM3 > EMA = IMA > MM2.
If you go based on Monetary value it will be only behind MM1 and not by a ton. It has great uncommons too like the first MM set.
If you go based on Monetary value it will be only behind MM1 and not by a ton. It has great uncommons too like the first MM set.
I'm sure most of the uncommon monetary value is being held up by Mishra's Bauble. Outside of monetary value there isn't much catching your eye and with monetary value there is barely anything more than that.
Bounce lands... they made the uncommon land cycle the ravnica bounce lands. This set is like smoke and mirrors with the rares and mythics spam. I wouldn't complain so much if they just dropped the MSRP of the freaking box sets considering we're getting 24 packs per booster box. I'd rather get 36 packs and no premium foil than 24 packs and a foil as well, considering the foils are of any particular card in the set. Hurray for opening a foil Distortion Strike for the billionth time.
Also thank goodness Lord of the Pit is at rare. That would have been pure evil if that took a mythic slot. That shouldn't have been in the set to begin with, though. They could have reprinted Reaper from the Abyss or something actually good instead of what constitutes a deck builders toolkit rare.

The value is all concentrade on the rare slots (not excited about the mythic cards). Are people really willing to gamble 10 dollars to pull one good rare? And it appears that, even in the rare slot, there are more bad cards than good ones.
Can't see how people get excited about this.

I'm sure most of the uncommon monetary value is being held up by Mishra's Bauble. Outside of monetary value there isn't much catching your eye and with monetary value there is barely anything more than that.
Helix Mindcrank(3 dollars) Thran Dynamo(9 dollar unc right now) Swords to plowshares, Condescend, Burrington forge tender, Swiftspear, Rift bolt/mana leak/wall of roots at common. It has around 50 dollars at todays prices in commons/uncommons. Now i assume Bauble will go down a bunch, mindcrank to 1 dollar maybe, still its going to be much better than MM 2/3 in that slot. And its comparable to MM1 in the rare slot. If you want to complain its about mythics outside of Mana Drain. Any Mana drain box will be hugely profitable thats for sure.
The only issue with this set is the demand for the first time reprints. It has a ton of those. Flusterstorm, Magus of the Moon, some of the Expensive lands, Mana Drain. Hard to say where the prices go on those. Damnation went from 60 to 30 within 2 weeks so if you assume a 50% loss of value it may be more reasonable in the first time reprint case.

I already mentioned some of those and a few of the ones you listed are not that special. Mana Leak isn't exactly something to go crazy over in either respect, Swords is nice but it has been getting quite a few printings the last few years, and Condescend is nothing special. After that there are a card or two more than I realized, but going from about 5 cards to 7 or 8 below rare and mythic is still not very good as EMA was about the same in that regard. This set just doesn't have much that grabs your attention outside of half the rares and the mythics, which was a big issue with EMA and MM2.
Doubt it. Unlike Rishadan Port, the other cards you listed are actually really, really, good.

Anyone who actually thinks this is true has never played against Port. You have no clue how good Port is, and how good it has been since it was printed. I remember playing Port in Standard some 20+ years ago, and hating playing against it ever since. It really is that broken. You obviously are new to the game or have never played against it.

Rishadan Port. Wow, that brings back memories. That card would be rather broken in modern right now. Actually, it would be one of the most annoying weapons against tri-color decks because locking them out of even one of their splash colors can be pretty nasty.

Yeap. Those are some of the more iconic cards in the game's hsitory and yet no reprints.

That's about what I do, a pack or two, as packs are just not worth it most of the time. These packs should be $7, at the most.
