I think the hatchling is awesome...until I realize it will probably see play in RDW. I hate the idea of a card being built for a casual archetype instead boosting a tier 1 option.
There's a single red mana spell that deals 1 to everything in the Amonkhet block I think. Seems stupid with ranging raptors and it's in Dino colors. Spell is also good vs mono red.
I wonder if it's playable in GB snek because of ballista.
May be too slow for modern but it can get quite silly with the card pool.
Blazing Volley hits only opponent creatures; however, if you cast or discard Heaven // Earth you can use the aftermath side with x = 1 to ping your own enrage creatures.
Yup Smut gets a touch better... still smacks of win more??
Maybe Huatli, Warrior Poet is the stabilizer for Dinos since Pirates and Ram seem to be the fast decks. Still seems sideboardy to me. Drop Carnage Tyrant, follow with Huatli +, corner turned?
Yea the first two in particular seem great and the dino deck has become a reality. Savage Stomp just became So much better, turn 2 Hatchling, turn 3: stomp their 1 drop, make a 3/3 and attack for 2? Seems great.
In titanshift, the only real cut option is Wood Elves which gets you a land even if they push it where as the raptor does not. Possibly worth a try but I wont hold my breath.
Oh, no doubt both Samut cards were intended to play well with Dinosaurs. And Samut, the Tested doesn't look so bad when you play her with all these Dinosaurs just waiting to be enraged.
Raptor Hatchling: Aw, what an ugly-cute little anklebiter! Not as tasty-looking as Brindle Shoat, though. Oh, hey there, mum. Ranging Raptors: Repeatable land tutor! Just give one of these little nippers a good kick and follow them as they scurry away to uncharted territory. Ravenous Daggertooth: Strictly more predatory than Grazing Gladehart.

MTGS Wikia Article about "New World Order"
Every time I read a comment about "Well if this card had card draw/trample/haste/indestructible/hexproof/life gain...", I think "You're missing the point." They're armchair developer comments that fail to take into account the card's role in the greater Limited and Standard environment. No, it may not be as good as whatever card you're comparing it to. There's a reason for that. Not every burn spell is Lightning Bolt, nor does it need to be or should be.
PSA to everyone who keeps forgetting about the Reserved List:
You're on a website dedicated to talking about MtG. You're only a few keystrokes away from finding out what cards are on the Reserved List. You're also only a few keystrokes away from finding out why some cards on the Reserved List got foil printings in FtV, as Judge promos, or whatnot, as well as why that won't happen again. Stop doing this.
Since when is getting two lands on turn 4 "win more"? Standard isn't that fast.
Samut doesn't seem like the worst card to play in a dino deck, but maybe the interactions she enables are still a little bit too fair.
The plus for double strike is the win more part. Sure if you get to ramp great but now we're talking xmas land if you expect to grab land every turn 4. Sure turn 5 you can grab a card/2 as well if you played Ripjaw. There are good interactions there but when it comes cut to 60 time...
Samut says 2 damage as you choose, so can you get 2 triggers? Or is it one because the damage is simultaneous? Makes a big difference playability. I mean off one creature.

For Samut's ability (and Chandra's Pyrohelix since somebody mentioned it), you have to choose two different targets if you decide to distribute the 2 damage among more than one creature. You can't have it deal 1 damage to the same creature twice.

That's what I thought but people seemed to be talking about getting 2 land on turn 4 from the trigger. Perhaps I misunderstood them. Thanks.
In the event I build Dinosaurs EDH I need to run Rocket Launcher both to trigger enrage and also because Dino Crisis 2 is the best game ever made.
I really need to get a new one of those, Rocket Launcher that is. I am still kicking myself for trading it away during Tempest, but it's cheap, so it shouldn't be hard to get.

It's about time for the reserved list to die, for the sake of Vintage and Legacy (And Commander).

Here's the correct cards of what your are aiming for.
Warmonger would backfire hard. Also, you have no control over Arena. The rest I have, and considered using, however in a Tribal Dino deck, they probably wouldn't fit in so well, ok, except Pyrohemia and Chandra, Flamecaller. Personally I'd prefer to use Shivan Hellkite over Ashen Firebeast, but using both is even better.
Now that damage dealing has been solved, that leaves us with the second issue, it's low toughness. I am pretty sure we'll get a Dinosaur lord that boosts power/toughness, but in case we don't, green and white will step in with the solution. Spidersilk Armor, Always Watching, Castle, Glorious Anthem, Gaea's Anthem, and Builder's Blessing are all global enchantments that will boost the toughness of your creatures.

Wow, I've just thought of what it would do in amulet decks... probably need to much setup to be worth it, but still, like a mini-titan.
Ranging Raptors + Adventuring Gear/Retreat to Kazandu + Akoum Hellkite
Akoum Hellkite can ping Ranging Raptors putting a land into play. The buff serves to keep Ranging Raptors alive.
Ranging Raptor too obviously awesome with Ripjaw and enablers.
Dinos will be real for sure.

Boom. Good against Ramitupyour too.
That's what Samut's -2 is.
I wonder if that was intentional.

Still waiting for reach dino...

BRGKresh the BloodbraidedBRG, A box of lands and ideas.
Modern:
RG Titanshift. A deck made of cards too stupid for EDH.
Retired: Lots. More than I feel you should suffer through or I should type out.
Isn't there a card in the Un'Goro expansion that is a direct ripoff of Rukh Egg?
Raptor Hatchling: Aw, what an ugly-cute little anklebiter! Not as tasty-looking as Brindle Shoat, though. Oh, hey there, mum.

The ideal spells to use however are Searing Touch and Fanning the Flames as they are usable over and over again.
