Guys I said lack of flash disappoints me because you can an throw a sneak attack at the opponent of trying to do something horrible to you or a creatur if it had flash.
I'd say probably makes a good companion. The fact it counters a lot of removal or at least eats a Fatal Push for you definitely makes it your top choice.

MTGS Wikia Article about "New World Order"
Every time I read a comment about "Well if this card had card draw/trample/haste/indestructible/hexproof/life gain...", I think "You're missing the point." They're armchair developer comments that fail to take into account the card's role in the greater Limited and Standard environment. No, it may not be as good as whatever card you're comparing it to. There's a reason for that. Not every burn spell is Lightning Bolt, nor does it need to be or should be.
PSA to everyone who keeps forgetting about the Reserved List:
You're on a website dedicated to talking about MtG. You're only a few keystrokes away from finding out what cards are on the Reserved List. You're also only a few keystrokes away from finding out why some cards on the Reserved List got foil printings in FtV, as Judge promos, or whatnot, as well as why that won't happen again. Stop doing this.

I'm getting a Spellskite-like/lite vibe off this card. It won't fit in as many decks but I think we could have a Modern playable card here.

Playing since 1994: Currently MAGS (HomeBrew),Standard & Pauper (Pioneer and Modern are degenerate trash formats)
STOP using "dude/bro" as a pejorative or insult. Grow up.
Margaret Thatcher: “The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.”
Benjamin Franklin: "Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety."
Martin Luther King Jr.: "I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character."
Hindering Light says the mana cost on that is a bit high, if anything.
Well the flyer also counters abilities, like Hostage Taker and Thought-Knot Seer effects... the card is way stronger than Hindering Light. It will see play, and I bet even in standard.

Pioneer - A bunch of stuff Modern - Humans Legacy - Grixis Phoenix / Death & Taxes
Chillax, everything's going to be fine. The card has been reveled for like 15 minutes. Let people have their initial knee jerk reactions. Chances are their opinions will evolve once they have an opportunity to play with it. It's scary how some people will go straight into attack mode when someone disagrees with them. Perhaps Ryperior74 enjoys playing Legacy or Vintage. He/she is allowed to judge this card on it's merits for those formats. I don't disagree with you about the power level of this card but don't troll people because they have a different viewpoint than your own.

Im not trolling for an internet reaction, if anyone is trolling for reactions it is the kids who complain about anything on a new card. Also it isnt opinion that if this card had flash it would be stupid, play test against this in Modern or Standard or even Legacy as though it had flash and get back to me on how dumb this card would be.

Usable in standard and a decent card for a very specific modern deck.
Most cases, Spellskite is the card you want. This card requires blue and can't stop the pump of an infect deck and doesn't blank kill spells that can't deal with 4 toughness.
While stopping effects that target YOU is relatively unique, it doesn't stop grapeshot (only a single copy is countered) and I can't think of too many other opponent-targeting effects worth countering.
So... yeah. Quick aggressive body for a specific deck.
This is a great card. Love that it's uncommon, too. It'll definitely see Standard and Limited play regularly, and it'll see some Modern play too, though whether or not it lasts in the format will remain to be seen for now.
I could potentially see a fun casual tribal Pirate deck coming together with Masques-era Pirates in a control/tempo shell.
ETA: Oh, and Merfolk don't really need any more help right now. Those who play Merfolk should remember what happens to decks that start to chew up more than 11% of the meta in non-rotating formats...

They just couldn't put 7th edition into Modern because of the card borders? Seriously? Count me out.
Yes, but there's a word for sexy men on the open seas. Cabin boys.
Seriously, though, I do like this. Yeah, it's technically a soft counter, but that's what you get at U. And it counters abilities. It's no Spiketail Hatchling, but it has a lot of the same synergies.

Card advantage is not the same thing as card draw. Something for 2B cannot be strictly worse than something for BBB or 3BB. If you're taking out Swords to Plowshares for Plummet, you're a fool. Stop doing these things!
In what universe? If you build a deck like that, and ever draw that hand, I will personally come to wherever you live, perform complicated acts of awestruck ********, then disembowel myself to escape the world that allowed something like this to occur and validate you.
So I feel it's worth noting (as far as Modern goes), that while this isn't able to stop Grapeshot from storm, it does shut down their Gifts Ungiven until it's off the battlefield

While I don't doubt what you say about the rarity,
Hindering Light says the mana cost on that is a bit high, if anything.
Of course, Hindering Light can't attack or block
Reprint Stasis!

This set is great.
i guess?
yes its neat.
it won't see play, but its solid
Opponents kill my mana dorks (Chief Engineer, Etherium Sculptor, Grand Architect) all the time, so yes, I do think so. Depending on the meta, I think it can replace some Mausoleum Wanderers, too!
I feel like Siren Wizard Pirate would have flowed off the tongue better than Siren Pirate Wizard.

We have Cursecatcher, and we typically don't have the luxury of holding up the U mana to use the ability.
