This is probably the most pirate-like pirate we have seen thus far--throw caution to the wind, go on the offensive, then afterwards stroll through town looting for booty.
I really don't like that Raid now has different times when it can trigger. Even if ability words have no rules meaning, they should still make the card easier to read by being able to skip the part that's the same on every card.
This is going to cause so many misplays during the prerelease...

A quick look back at Raid and how it was used in Khans. There were 11 cards with raid.
Of those twowere sorceries that got bonus effects if you had attacked. Sevencreatureswithenterthebattlefieldabilities. One was a creature with a replacement effect. And the last was a creature (card) with an activate ability that could only be activated if you had attacked.
So while the majority of them are in one category, they already did have some differences.
So personally, I think changing things up with this set sounds a lot better, as they are exploring the design space more. Also I don't see that many missed triggers/misplays happening because of this change.

Thing is that save for the Bloodsoaked Champion (Which has the saving grace that its ability is preceded by an activation cost and as thus less likely to be skimmed over and let it be said here that I'm not a huge fan of it either) they all triggered at basically the same time and once. Now you basically have such a wide range of raid cards that the word "raid" is causing more confusion down the line than it is explaining anything.
The funniest thing is that Ethan Fleischer got flak for it during his dinosaur block when he made his evolve ability word trigger through multiple different things.

MTGS Wikia Article about "New World Order"
Every time I read a comment about "Well if this card had card draw/trample/haste/indestructible/hexproof/life gain...", I think "You're missing the point." They're armchair developer comments that fail to take into account the card's role in the greater Limited and Standard environment. No, it may not be as good as whatever card you're comparing it to. There's a reason for that. Not every burn spell is Lightning Bolt, nor does it need to be or should be.
PSA to everyone who keeps forgetting about the Reserved List:
You're on a website dedicated to talking about MtG. You're only a few keystrokes away from finding out what cards are on the Reserved List. You're also only a few keystrokes away from finding out why some cards on the Reserved List got foil printings in FtV, as Judge promos, or whatnot, as well as why that won't happen again. Stop doing this.
Cool little interaction: This is perfectly on curve with Ruin Raider so dropping this on 4th turn's second main gives you an almost guaranteed draw two, discard one.
I've gotta say that so far I'm liking pirate tribal's feel.

At uncommon, this is insanely powerful in limited. It loots the turn you play it if you have any kind of board and the fact that it's a good sized body means it can attack by itself but it DOESN'T NEED TO. You can hold this back on defense or not risk it in combat at all. As long as something is attacking, you loot. Raid is a great returning mechanic, good for new players, great flavor and nice new design space.
I may point out that this has wonderful synergy with Vehicles. It can Crew most of them all by itself and its ability will trigger as long as the Vehicle attacks.
Looks like they are changing up the Draft Archetypes for this blook
Reprint Stasis!
Control needs more love.

Now I wish this was called Booty Looter.
