I just spoke to the owner of my local LGS, and he indicated that he is getting a very small (read: 1 reorder display...4 decks) reorder quantity for the Commander 2017 decks. I don't know if WOTC will offer more reorders in the future, but the owner is concerned about the low supply. Has anyone else heard, or can anyone else confirm, a low supply/reorder amount?
Perhaps, but I remember hearing the same things about Commander 2016. I believe this is what caused Atraxa, Praetors' Voice to spike up above $30. She is now around $15-$17.
So, it is possible, but I would wager that it is probably the same thing as last year and the prices (if one is concerned about that) will be right where they probably should be.
I personally haven't heard this, but I didn't really plan on buying them so I haven't asked my LGS's about it.
While I don't have anything direct, a LGS that usually doesn't price gouge on these sorts of things has them 6 dollars or so above msrp, which is indicative of a more limited print run.

Aside from a few random wizards, these aren't exactly breaking or warping the format to force people to play a particular style. As such, in my uneducsted opinion, a short print run is best as the ev in long term is not there. Atraxa forced you to build every kind of deck you could with her, and 3/4 versions I saw played were already popular archtypes. highly wanted card, low print run, no resupply, price spike.

Wanted -Zombie Foils and older expensive Zombie stuff. High Priority- Beta Z Master/ Int. Collector's Edition.
So does not getting a second or third case mean its a short print run?
I only say so because every Walmart and Target getting cases plus LGSs doesnt seem like a short supply
Only asking because of a cynical view of possible secondary manipulation going on
The run for 2016 felt like it was much smaller than 2015 was and I wouldn't be surprised if 2017 ended up being printed similarly to the 2016 decks. In my own opinion from just comparing deck lists, the 2016 decks are far, far better than the newer ones just from the included mana-bases. I'm not sure what is going on with these ones. They really should have reprinted the temples from Theros block at the very least in this commander set. Last set we got buddy lands, pain lands, and all sorts of good stuff in the mana bases. The most notable thing I see in the new decks is Stirring Wildwood?
Man, this is making me want to pick up the last two 2016 decks I haven't gotten yet. Thankfully it's the two that no one really seems to want.
1. (Ravnica Allegiance): You can't keep a good esper control deck down... Or Wilderness Reclamation... or Gates...
2. (War of the Spark): Guys, I know what we need! We need a cycle of really idiotic flavor text victory cards! Jace's Triumph...
3. (War of the Spark): Lets make the format with control have even more control!
For what's it's worth my local Walmart and Target have both had clear plastic hard case "grab bags" with extra in inventory they couldn't move that included heavily printed boosters and prior commander products. I saw this a bunch with the 2014-2015 decks, but it's declined. Small sample size but I don't see these as often as I use to. It was a good buy and I was picked up 1-2 just to get some good cards here and there.
Maybe the retailers just had too much product on hand after the rush and they leveled off printing accordingly?
I'm the new T.O. at my LGS for MTG and I can reorder up to 10 boxes (40 decks)....your lgs must have restrictions due to lack of players/t.o. forgot to send results thus resulting in a NO FNM(or whatever it was).

Be careful with those repacks. I bought one recently for the hell of it, and the "deck" was actually a land pack. Caveat emptor.
I would be very surprised if demand justifies a second printing of this one.
Without trying to poo-poo the decks themselves; just not really seeing the hype (or the power) of previous Commander sets.
Once Ixalan drops, if it's even halfway playable, C17 demand will probably crater. People tend to move on quickly. As Wizards is also accelerating their release schedule of new products, I'd expect that to be even more of a factor going forward.

I wouldn't say that. The demand for the decks is a bit different, but C17 is still a fair commander product. They picked a lot of good reprint targets in the Vampires deck, there are some very strong cards spread about in the Cat tribal deck along with the wizards deck, and ironically the weakest one of the four expanded on the extremely limited five color commander selection available. C16 had more valuable staple cards such as Chromatic Lantern, pain lands, and buddy lands, but we are getting a buddy land reprint in Ixalan, Iconic Masters will likely have Chromatic Lantern due to probably having a lot of high CMC creatures, and it is totally possible they may be reprinting the enemy buddy lands soon as well. I'm still not in favor of them moving more valuable cards out of precon products, because it's basically killing the marketability of those products to anyone other than beginners and puts those beginners at a very big disadvantage against established players, though.

I was able to reorder a very small amount for next week. I think the print run wasn't huge, and the demand was very high. We sold out on Friday morning!
My distributor did tell me there would be another print run in October, so I'm hoping we'll be able to reorder then.
My LGS made sure they put in a LARGE Pre-Order from their distribution website. The put in an order for 10 of each deck, they sold out of Vampires and Dragons as soon as the store opened. The owner is having difficulty getting a "Refresh Order"
Our store got their standard order, 8 of each unit. Here in NW Arkansas, every local Walmart has them like 4 or 5 of each. It is like the "limited" run of Nintendo Switches or amiibos. Everyone who is of the mind, I need it now because I may miss out on the next money card fro9m commander grabbed them now but just like last year more will get printed we still have all except 1 of last years sitting on the shelf in Walmart, and 2 or 3 of each of last years in Japanese.
My closest LGS where I preordered mine said they sold out of Vamps and Wizards before they were even released, and had only two Cat and Dragon decks left each. Now I don't know how much product they ordered, but I met my friend there, and he bought a Cat deck (which is surprisingly good, btw for a precon) and the guy at the counter at that time said that he feels like it was a low print run.
My feelings on it are since these are a bit more unique than previous products, maybe WotC is getting numbers first before they decide on the size of the next print run. My 2 cents.

Demand for these in my area is high. I missed preorder so had to settle for going to the LGS after release. Sold dry. Not sure why, they usually have tons. They promised more but last time this happened during C16, all they could get was Japanese C16 for the higher demand precons.
My other LGS is too small. So I hit up three Wal*Marts as likely candidates, only one had any in stock. Vamps, Cats and Wizards. Picked up the last Vampire since I can order the other two for the same price from TCG. Oddly, they still had two Japanese C16 there. That Wal*Mart is in a super sketchy area known for prostitutes and drug deals. So I doubt a lot of Magic minded people want to who there.
I'm disappointed that WotC decided to do a small print run if it is true. They had to have known Dragons and a life would be in greater demand from all those surveys they do. Hopefully they're not taking cues from Nintendo and their shenanigans.
I was able to order a few more sets this week from my distributor. They told me there would be another print run in October. It seems like they'll restock commander after Ixalan releases.
My local walmart didn't have a single C17 deck left on the shelf by Sunday. I actually had to ask one of the employees about it since it looked like they didn't receive them yet. Turns out they just sold out really fast.

This seems like a good idea. With their release times in preceding years, I expect these have become reliable Xmas-season gifts in a lot of households. Having these on the shelves when people are holiday shopping is probably a good idea.
My love affair with the annual Commander release is pretty much over. They're kind of like Call of Duty: it doesn't matter how much they change the formula, the annual product just isn't exciting anymore.

Can you name all of the creature types with at least 20 cards? Try my Sporcle Quiz! Last Updated: 6/29/20 (Core Set 2021).
The Commander line of precon decks are great, it's just they need to do more on par with the 2014 and 2016 decks in terms of included lands, deck consistency, and commander staples like Chromatic Lantern. This years set of decks were a pretty big miss on that front and especially in the dragon deck, where they butchered the mana-base so badly that to even customize the deck a little, one has to adjust the mana-base because vivids are just not enough.

I was running late yesterday so both LGS closed for the night. Swung by Wal*Mart closest to my house (not the one with prostitutes) and found Wizards, Cats and a damaged Dragon. A hole had about the size of a small nail went right through the center, damaging the oversized card underneath. Bummer.
I forgot my plastic at home and only had a $20 in my wallet. Oh well. Next time.

Weigh the deck cube in the produce section. If it's over 1 lb, it's a commander deck (I got Animar, Soul of Elements this way), if it's under 1 lb don't bother.
