Wow dude. Just when that deck couldn't get more lame.
Worse...it senergizes with the deck since the commanders abilities involve ETB wizards and it bounces the wizards back.
And why in the world is it a $21 dollar land it only works with one tribe. And it taps for colorless
Because Magic is full of wannabe day traders playing babby's first stock market who think that there's going to be a massive demand for them now and are buying them up. I can't imagine the price is going to stay that high, it's just a speculator spike.
Cat definately has the cleanest build of the four.
Vampires got almost everything right I think the only reason Olivia wasn't in the deck is because of being too close to MM3
Dragon the deck Is great no question about that...but whoever made the mana base needs to be fired that's way way way way way too many enter tapped lands. I mean seriously you couldn't even put the battle duel lands nor the slow versions of the ally fetch lands and heck I don't care if the ally check lands are appearing In ixalan use those.
Wizards if that many legends are going to be in it atleast reprint mirror gallery for it but you diden't and why isn't nekusar or jeleva a reprint? And I again fire the person who forbid riptide laboratory for a reprint because of that it quadrupled in price it's $21 now and just a few hours ago it was $5

Even with Mirror Gallery, copying most of those legends is gonna be a huge mana sink, the only two really good ones to copy are Niv and Arcanis..

Decks seem fine, covering some staples and good stuff while leaving a few obvious upgrades of various levels of cost. Everything omitted makes sense - Felidar Sovereign is unfun, Pride Sovereign and Regal Caracal are likely too new.

I chose not to buy all of the planeswalker decks and regretted it ever since. Now I buy every deck when it comes out. I was disappointed in all but the dragon deck when I only knew the new cards. Even seeing the decklists didn't really change anything for me. But then I watched the Game Knights video and all four decks seem to be relatively on-par with each other.
At first glance I see the issues that people have with the dragon mana-base, but bear in mind that the 36 land count in the deck list doesn't account for Path of Ancestry, and also consider that there are a ton of ramp cards and mana rocks in the deck. It's way more than I'd ever put in a deck.
Josh plays The Ur-Dragon on turn 6!
After seeing the video I'm not that concerned, and the dragon deck is definitely my favorite.

But the reprinted land choice is the worst and dumbest move ever for the dragon deck.

None of these are chosen and more than a hand full of this list are quite budget some are only exspensive because of only a couple of reprints.
At this point it really feels like Wizards has clear policy on printing cards: If it's a land and it's rare / needed, they wont print it unless threatened with being thrown from the 2nd story of a building in a commander deck.
Also watch your hopes and dreams get crushed as scalpers have also eaten up every copy of Patron Wizard. So yay it's 20 dollars. I'm sorry, but do any of the people working on these decks actually play commander? How can they miss two of the biggest wizard cards for casual play?
The way to measure if a commander product succeeded or not is by how many of the most important casual cards got covered in the release. Vampires was done well, but Wizards was done very poorly. Also at least they reprinted Scion of the Ur Dragon in the dragon deck.
Also for those interested, Endless Sands can be used similarly to Riptide Laboratory even if it isn't quite as reusable. My suggestion is grab one of those if you don't have the former.
1. (Ravnica Allegiance): You can't keep a good esper control deck down... Or Wilderness Reclamation... or Gates...
2. (War of the Spark): Guys, I know what we need! We need a cycle of really idiotic flavor text victory cards! Jace's Triumph...
3. (War of the Spark): Lets make the format with control have even more control!

I was honestly shocked when I saw the land bases of the new commander decks, last years were, ok not perfect but, pretty damn good. As I mentioned earlier, this was a prime time to reprint the mirage fetches (good budget alternative to the Ons/Zen fetches), not to mention that the vampire deck would have benefited immensely from tainted peak and tainted field. Instead we get reprints of the Invasion come in to play tapped cycle that noone in their right mind would play in commander, and the annual reprint of the Vivid Cycle. :/
Out of the four, the only two decks that have had any thought to their mana bases was the dragon deck and the cat deck, because the dragon deck would not have functioned well without the large number of tri-lands it had.
Changes I would have done:
Put Bad River in the Wizard deck, Rocky Tar Pit in the Vampire Deck, and Flood Plain and Mountain Valley in the dragon deck, to complement the Grasslands in the cat deck.
Put Tainted Field and Tainted Peak in the vampire deck, replacing a mountain and a plains respectively, or the Rakdos and Boros guildgates.
Put at least one rare, two-colored land in each deck. Not necessarily something with a basic land type, but would it have hurt anyone to have Sulfur Falls in the wizard deck and Isolated Chapel in the Vampire deck (with any one with red in it for the dragon deck), to complement the manland in the cat deck?
At least one rare land that can tap for any color, such as City of Brass, Exotic Orchard, or even Thran Quarry (not on the reserved list, and never been reprinted, such a shame).
Any one of these changes would have made the mana base much more tolerable.
As for the decks themselves, each of them are pretty damn good, and the new cards are friggin amazing. Seriously, had anyone expected a return of phasing? or a reverse Extinction?

It's about time for the reserved list to die, for the sake of Vintage and Legacy (And Commander).

The wizards deck did so bad in that video. He never had any intimidating board presence, he never really dealt any damage, and aside from that one time he board wiped he never really used any of his cards. It felt extra bad because sometimes they would remove his stuff or take him down huge chunks of life for no reason, like when he played his commander for the first time and JLK killed it for no reason. If I had been Shawn Main I probably would have left a little disappointed.

Yeah. I like to play them once out of the box to get an idea on what to build but I don't know if I'll wait that long this time. I'm definitely grabbing the cheap BFZ/SoI duals.
The problem with making tribe pre-cons is that there are simply too many cards for each tribe they have chosen. Think about how many cards they could have reprinted for Dragons alone. Do a Gatherer search with "dragon" in the rules text and see what I mean. I think they did an admirable job with all of the tribes, but the most glaring reprint they really missed out on was Riptide Laboratory. I am not a fan of tribal wizards by any means, in fact I quite despise playing against Azami or any deck that includes Patron Wizard, but Riptide Laboratory desperately needs a reprint and this was the perfect opportunity for it.
The new cards are great without being parasitic to having to play them in a tribal deck, they are great on their own or even better if you play them with the tribe you choose.
My personal favorite is Vindictive Lich, that is going to be brutal with Rooftop Storm + Havengul Lich + sac outlet. Can't wait to slot that in a zombie deck.

As popular as tribal is, I expect that we'll see plenty of tribal Commander products down the line. Probably not next year, though.
Since themed cycles of four decks are going to be the norm going forward, I'm guessing next year is card types matter (Artifacts, Enchantments, Instants + Sorceries, and Land). I'll be interested in seeing what other themes they come up with besides tribal.

MTGS Wikia Article about "New World Order"
Every time I read a comment about "Well if this card had card draw/trample/haste/indestructible/hexproof/life gain...", I think "You're missing the point." They're armchair developer comments that fail to take into account the card's role in the greater Limited and Standard environment. No, it may not be as good as whatever card you're comparing it to. There's a reason for that. Not every burn spell is Lightning Bolt, nor does it need to be or should be.
PSA to everyone who keeps forgetting about the Reserved List:
You're on a website dedicated to talking about MtG. You're only a few keystrokes away from finding out what cards are on the Reserved List. You're also only a few keystrokes away from finding out why some cards on the Reserved List got foil printings in FtV, as Judge promos, or whatnot, as well as why that won't happen again. Stop doing this.

I knew I wasn't going to like these decks as much as those from previous years,
as I'm not the biggest fan of Tribal (or most creature-centric decks, TBH),
but I wasn't expecting them to be *this* disappointing.
The reprints are largely cheap and uninspired.

Hmm good conjecture for next year. I'd love Plane-theme decks. Going off the most popular: Ravnica (ew), Innistrad, Zendikar, Theros? Maybe Kaladesh unless it's too techy alongside Ravnica.
Artifacts - UR Legend? Kaladesh theme?
Enchantments - Tragic Poet reprint plz? Theros theme?
