Old artwork new border Phantom Nishoba and Cauldron Dance I find most exciting.
Another batch of the awesome basics from last year is very welcome, too.
edit: "If Mairsil has a crew ability, creatures can crew Mairsil. It'll become an artifact creature, but its power and toughness remain unchanged."
Wow. Not a single reprinted instant in the dragon deck? Christ. And of course its the one to get the crappy Cataclysm and three of the *****ty curses. Guess ill just get my own Kindred Charge since they didnt want to include it.
Feels to me like the Vampire deck got a bit of a bum deal re: valuable reprints. However I don't know if there are any cards (besides Captivating Vampire, a $6 card before this) that were really super in demand.
I'm also miffed power level wise with the deck as a whole. We got a total of 37 lands (under par for commander decks usually) and as many rocks as the other decks, and we didn't even get Curse of Opulence. The vampire deck should have gotten its full suite of curses because vampires. Opulence moreso because of mana needs. That worries me for precon use reasons.
However overall the entire release looks rather strong otherwise. I'm pretty into it. And yes, I'm still buying the Vampire deck haha
Like half the creatures in the deck are legendary. Why, in the name of all that is good and just, does this deck not have Mirror Gallery??? They even included Clone Legion for gods' sakes!

Check out the thread for my cube if you have the time, and tell me how terrible it is.
Generals meant to be drafted first in a single pack of 6 cards.
And here is the actual cube, meant to be drafted in 4 regular sized packs. (60 card decks)
Darn, Feline Ferocity has some great stuff with a Mirari's Wake reprint and Zendikar Resurgenet, Fleecemane and so on.
Very nice seeing Lightning Greaves back as well, it was getting up there in price for a casual card. Plow and Go for the Throat are nice additions to the Vampire deck. Overall Wizards did a good job with these, good variety of cards with some value thrown in. A+.

The "Crazy One", playing casual magic and occasionally dipping his toes into regular play since 1994.
Currently focusing on Pre-Modern (Mono-Black Discard Control) and Modern (Azorious Control, Temur Rhinos).
Find me at the Wizard's Tower in Ottawa every second Saturday afternoons.
Speaking purely from the perspective of reprint inclusions and not deck construction, i am not impressed.
There are one or two cards that krept up in value, to not even double digit range, that will now tank. Theres a few staples that are always helpful, but not many. The tribal oriented cards that did need reprints arent represented here and thats a failing honestly. This was THE opportunity to reprint the harder to find or higher priced more recent tribal staples, and we didnt get them in favor of idk, another printing of skullclamp and sol ring
Would Theros scry-lands be too much to ask instead of guildgates? In decks that by their very nature are not fully optimized, the opportunity to scry 2 or 3 times per game can lead to much smoother gameplay, and it's not like we're talking about adding big money cards in doing so.
And in much the same way that Sol Ring should be reprinted because A) it's a staple and B) it should be kept affordable, Chromatic Lantern deserves to be in every deck of 3 colors or more.
Definitely some solid reprints to go along with all of the new goodies for these decks:
Lightning Greaves (always fun)
Leonin Shikari
Captivating Vampire
Door of Destinies
Black Market
Scion of the Ur Dragon
Memory Plunder
Fist of the Suns
Mirari's Wake
Overall I would say any of the decks really would be worth picking up and I'll likely grab a set at some point just to have to play around with :).
They should have put butcher of malakir in all the decks, even the cat one. In fact there should be a copy of butcher in every single precon, nay, every single pack of magic cards until the end of time, just so wizards can be CERTAIN that everyone is playing this card.

My favorite flavor text: Time of Heroes
Feel free to tell me yours!
I think in terms of reprints and such, the Vampire deck is my favorite. Over all, the cat deck is my least favorite of the bunch. At first glance, it seems like they went much lighter on the myhic rare reprints than the previous couple of years. Kind of upset we didn't see Command Beacon or any decent lands (outside of Command Tower, Myriad ((which should have been in every deck)) and the new Command Tower). Temples or something, at least.
I want to get the dragon deck for the novelty, even though I don't think I'll build Ur-Dragon (too invested in Karrthus already). Might want the Wiard or Vampire deck too, I'll have to look over them again and see what all is in each. May be cheaper to just buy the singles I want.
Honestly surprised they didn't put Sarkhan Unbroken into the dragon deck. It's a perfect fit for the 5-color dragon theme and ramp subtheme, but there's enough chaff to take out that I can just slot one in.
I need that art in a much larger version. It's Edgar Markov turning Sorin into a vampire as Olivia looks on, if I'm not mistaken.
Which also means the is moments before Sorin became a planeswalker.

“There are no weak Jews. I am descended from those who wrestle angels and kill giants. We were chosen by God. You were chosen by a pathetic little man who can't seem to grow a full mustache"
"You can tell how dumb someone is by how they use Mary Sue"
I find this year's decks to be rather average. We do have a few noticeable reprints, but there are still some very odd choices, like Myriad Landscape not being in all of them, or various single cards missing like Riptide Laboratory missing, Gem of Becoming for WizardsCity of Brass esque card in Dragons, and other things like that.
I'm amazed that Adaptive Automaton nor Metallic Mimic made it into these decks. Sure Mimic might be too new to put in here, but for Automaton not to be in here at all is amazing. No Shared Triumph/Obelisk of Urd although probably only for cats/vampires.
They certainly came up short in the land department. At the very least checklands or scry duals would have been nice. No reveal lands either, along with the aforementioned lack of something like Grand Coliseum
Overall this year isn't terrible, but it isn't especially exciting for the most part. I'd say it's better than 2013, just by looks.
I'd probably rank them by 2014 > 2011 > 2016 = 2017 = 2015 >>>>>> 2013

Draft my cube! (630 cards)
Otherwise, there aren't many exciting reprints. I'll probably just get the Wizard deck and buy a few singles from the other decks.
Another batch of the awesome basics from last year is very welcome, too.

Nearly 1000 words to describe what Teferi's Protection does : D
Zendikar Resurgent?
Raksha Golden Cub and White Sun's Zenith too?
WOTC is letting me perform my favorite set of plays in EDH straight out of the box and with mana doublers. <3
EDIT: the cat deck is super rampy. These White Sun's Zeniths are going to be super-charged.

Proud Disciple of the Church of the Wary
MIRARI'S WAKE
Captivating vampire
dark imposter
return to dust
door of destinies
well of dreams
black market
sanguine bond
ryusei the falling star
utrava hellkite
teneb the harvester
dragonspeaker shaman
fist of suns
havengul lich
arcanis the omnipotent
magus of the abyss
puppeteer clique
decree of pain
Definately failures I spotted
No Olivia Voldaren nor sarkhan unbroken
And by far the worst one is no riptide laboratory
Looks at artifact list.

Right now that would be:
157 $ for Feline Ferocity
162 $ for Vampiric Bloodlust
166 $ for Draconic Domination
108 $ for Arcane Wizardry
I'll look at this again in a month.

Am pretty sure you are right. Certainly looks like those three, which is pretty cool.
I like the angel statue behind Edgar as well.

As usual, the Commander decks use a ton of taplands. I really wish they would use some checklands.
