I try to stay positive whenever I post about things like this because there are always negative comments, but this podcast was a complete waste. I miss the days where we saw official spoilers of some of the new commanders in advance.
All of the talk surrounding this release was circular talk (all 5C, real/notreal, wizards vz rogues vs shapeshifters) with no real substance behind them.
It doesn't help with hype, i feel less excited about the set than when they were first announced, and it even reading all of the discussion here has become boring because we have no new information.
I want to see the new cards but having them all revealed is a flash in the pan compared to the excitement I've had for previous years, specifically 13 and 14 where they showed off Jeleva, Teferi, and Gisa well in advance.
I completely to agree, the way spoilers have been handled lately pretty much just encourages circular frustration and little in terms of enthusiasm. Then everything is dumped in a short space of time and the hype will evaporate almost immediately after the power levels of the decks are assessed.
I could only dream of a new, updated version of Baron Sengir!!! Oh man people would go nuts. Although I feel like he would have to be mono black so he couldn't be a general for this deck, just in the 99. But that's okay with me.
Actually, Sengir has mastered several kinds of Magic, not only Black Magic. Ravi, now Grandmother Sengir, was a Planeswalker who become mad/crazy and Sengir took advantage of it and learn many spells and secrets of Magic Power from her... And Ravi was mostly a Green Magic wielder...
He also learnt from Ihsan, whom he turned into a Shade to control him...
So, since he was used to Black, Red and Blue Magic in the beginning; he could easily use all color of Magic, such as Nicol Bolas; since Sengir is the OLDEST Vampire in Magic (Created by a Ritual, read "A Song of Plague Rats") as Edgar and Sorin Markov were...
So, I would expect him to be a Black Creature with Activated abilities that require all colors or hybrid Mana dor their activation: Black, White, Red, Green and Blue
Anyway, I want to listen to the Podcast about Vampires to complete this information
And I really hope we see something better than Kheru Bloodsucker representing the vampires of Tarkir.
It looks cool though, especially when you read the flavour text and realize that that face was the face of one of its victims, and the actual "face" is underneath.
Maybe we will get a new one that's like a rare, and cares about any creature dying. Like Blood Artists big brother?
No dimir deck, no werewolf deck, yep..this year's set sucks.
You haven't seen a single card from the set outside of the 6 spoiled, and because the set didn't cater to the tribes that YOU wanted, the entire set sucks for everybody. Gotcha.
See, it's people like you that just make me question if you kids really play the game or not, or you post just for reactions on the intornets. So bad.

What a nothing burger! 23 minutes with hardly information relevant to the product other than the confirmation of Edgar Markov getting a card.
We know more about a joke Unset that the majority of players aren't interested in that is coming out months later than we do about Commander 2017. Unflipping believable!

I always thought Grandmother Sengir was dealing in black magic. (I always thought Liliana of the Dark Realms was the perfect representation of Granny's ability) It would be awesome if they included her in the deck, but if I could only get one it would have to be an updated Baron Sengir or Irini Sengir.
Shoot, Alara qualifies more for Vampire material thanks to Grixis Vampires like Vein Drinker and Blood Tyrant, though a full-on Grixis Vampire is obviously out of the question for a Mardu Vampire deck. But Kheru Bloodsucker is aligned with BGU Sultai and by extension UB Silumgar, so a Vampire from Alara shouldn't be that big a stretch.
MTGS Wikia Article about "New World Order"
Every time I read a comment about "Well if this card had card draw/trample/haste/indestructible/hexproof/life gain...", I think "You're missing the point." They're armchair developer comments that fail to take into account the card's role in the greater Limited and Standard environment. No, it may not be as good as whatever card you're comparing it to. There's a reason for that. Not every burn spell is Lightning Bolt, nor does it need to be or should be.
PSA to everyone who keeps forgetting about the Reserved List:
You're on a website dedicated to talking about MtG. You're only a few keystrokes away from finding out what cards are on the Reserved List. You're also only a few keystrokes away from finding out why some cards on the Reserved List got foil printings in FtV, as Judge promos, or whatnot, as well as why that won't happen again. Stop doing this.
For those wondering even these are not useful for learning about them I know thenorder
Today was vampires
The 9th is wizards (also the week previews start god bless you guys for doing it a week early.)
The 16th is dragons
The 23rd is cats (no surprise the unexspected the tribe is the last one)
Then on the 30th ixalan story preview.
Good to know, but I second everyone saying that this podcast had basically zero new info. It would have made way more sense to have either started previews this week, or to have done something else this week and done the four Commander podcasts from the 9th to the 30th instead of the 2nd to the 23rd. That way we could have avoided having a useless and redundant podcast, and vampires wouldn't get shorted on info due to awkward scheduling.
Also, it's scary to see that creative team members, by their own admission, know less about the older lore than some of the players. That's inexscusable. How are we supposed to have faith in creative when they don't even know the info that they of all people should be experts on?

To be frank, that older lore is now over 20 years old and mostly scattered about on flavor text and what bits of information are still around from those times. The reason Urza block is so well known compared to homelands or Legends when it comes to lore is that it was released when information was far more available. In fact, I'd say the majority of Dominaria lore got immortalized via Time Spiral block and the Urza Saga.

But the overpaid marketing department says this is the only way to sell cardboard! Not making good products and letting people grow expectant about being able to enjoy them on release, ignore movies and video games they don't know how to sell stuff!

True, but the people in creative of should still know it. If anyone should be experts on the older lore, it's them. It's their job to know this stuff. Seeing a creative team member needing to be told a summary of a block's story - regardless of how old or obscure - does not exactly inspire confidence.

They could use it as a way to foreshadow the return of the Clans/Khans. A vampire old enough to remember a time before "The Khan Fall." starts setting things into motion that begin a rebellion against the Dragonlords.

Or they only had 20 minutes to podcast and they chose the most interesting examples of Vampires that had active work put into their designs, and not the fairly generic and uninteresting ones from Ravnica/Alara.
I wouldn't call the Orzhov and Dimir Vampires generic and uninteresting. Dimir Vampires are among the few psychic Vampires in the game, and you don't see many Vampires who are part of a church/bank/mafia organization.

Podcasts are overdone and misused. They certainly have the resources to accompany the soundfile with images.
This ignores that podcasts without transcripts are also terrible material to reference etc. A podcast is okay, but should not be the sole release of information for a company.

Considering there is -one- vampire that we have seen on Tarkir I don't say we can say they chose "The most interesting examples." Now I am all about learning more about why there is one odd vampire on Tarkir but Szadek in the very least is more interesting as the Founder of one of the Ten Guilds, I only bring up the possibility of seeing some lore on Tarkir because they have said that one of them major complaints about the Tarkir block is that it ended on "Dragons win forever." and this would be a really good place to put in a story line hook for a future set to revisit that.
Since not having angels is the second great betrayal as far as Commander persons go, the first being that Nahiri got the Planeswalker commander spot instead of Serra (a crime far greater than anything she could have done to Innistrad), all i have going for these decks is the possibility of some good Selesnya(n) reprints. Aura Shards? Privileged Position? An Ajani, mayhaps? Some cat themed art on old cards?
Cats is really all this set has for me, and not even for the cats, sadly.
If there isn't an Ajani or two in the Tribal Cat deck, a Sorin in Tribal Vampire and..a Nicol/Ugin/Sarkhan in The Dragon Deck then WOTC needs to just pack it up and call it.
All of the talk surrounding this release was circular talk (all 5C, real/notreal, wizards vz rogues vs shapeshifters) with no real substance behind them.
