Urza is a planeswalker. I don't understand why this discussion is even happening. Freyalise, from that same time, came back as a planeswalker, what makes people think Urza would come back as a creature card?
Hear hear! Not only that, but Urza is an Artificer. He is not a Dragon, Cat, Vampire, or Wizard. Nor was he ever one of those. He was a Human Artificer, just like Mishra, Artificer Prodigy, his brother.
On the Urza topic, i don't feel him being grixis at all. I think he is surely UW. Even at his lowest point, when he betrayed dominaria for phyrexia, he never did it for personal reasons, he didn't do it to gain more power. He just had this vision of the world as a big machine, which is a very white-blue point of view in my opinion. He did many "villain" thing, but as a villain he is way more similar to August IV or Heliod than to, for example, Nicol Bolas
On the flip side, the primary reason Urza got obsessed with stopping the Phyrexians was because he blamed them for turning his brother evil. The dude was always way more subservient to his emotions than he liked to pretend, and "working for the greater good" felt like an excuse more than an actual motivation half the time. I've always felt he was more UR than any other colors.
Of course, Urza is a complex character, who lived for a long time, so he's gone through some radical color shifts throughout his story. There were times when he was WU, sure, but I'd argue that the two colors he was most consistently were blue and red. It's totally reasonable to print a UR Urza.
It's a moot point though. This tangent originally started because Urza was mentioned as a possible include in the wizard deck, but a Planeswalker Urza wouldn't have a creature type, and pre-walker Urza was an artificer, not a wizard; he didn't learn any magic until after he ascended.
Four very played out boring tribes, no clerics as I was hoping, I might just give this one a pass, despite how much I like tribal.
On the other hand, the dragon deck has Ramos, which gives some attention to Mercadia, my favorite neglected MTG setting, so maybe I will pick it up.
I want to build a really bad 5 color Ramos deck with all of the guild gates and that land that wins if you have all 10, door to nothingness and progenitus to just see what happens.

Can you link the deck list, seeing as you claim it's very boring?
And no. You don't like tribal, otherwise you wouldn't whine so hard about them building decks around three extremely popular tribes while turning a fan favourite type into a real tribe.
You're just being salty they did nothing with a type that nobody cares about.

I actually proxied him and have been playing him with my group for the past couple weeks. I built him as multicolor spell tribal essentially with some voltron elements like steel of the godhead and behemoth sledge/mage slayer. Lots of charms, sunforger, card draw (sphinx rev, rhystic study, sylvan library, etc).
I had gates with maze's end, but it made his mana too slow and opted to drop them for basics to fuel borderposts and tango lands. It runs okay, one shots super easy and gets nutso turns with vedalken orrery/leyline of anticipation, can be fairly slow though.

Good point, even making a dumb deck I shouldn't cripple myself too much. I just think the ability to have this Dragon Engine "charge his laser" and then out of nowhere drop door to nothingness with amulet of vigor on the board and then just point to someone and say "bang" would be hilarious to me, especially if I was left unchecked for that long lol
Speaking of crippling oneself, here is hoping they actually reprint half decent budget mana in these decks instead of the horrible nightmares they inflict on people with the last few sets. Is it so much to ask for painlands and enemy/allied checklands? I swear each time I get a 2+ color commander deck I always have to add 20+ usd to fix the mana so the deck doesn't run like an caffeine deprived man having a hangover while on a treadmill.

MTGS Wikia Article about "New World Order"
Every time I read a comment about "Well if this card had card draw/trample/haste/indestructible/hexproof/life gain...", I think "You're missing the point." They're armchair developer comments that fail to take into account the card's role in the greater Limited and Standard environment. No, it may not be as good as whatever card you're comparing it to. There's a reason for that. Not every burn spell is Lightning Bolt, nor does it need to be or should be.
PSA to everyone who keeps forgetting about the Reserved List:
You're on a website dedicated to talking about MtG. You're only a few keystrokes away from finding out what cards are on the Reserved List. You're also only a few keystrokes away from finding out why some cards on the Reserved List got foil printings in FtV, as Judge promos, or whatnot, as well as why that won't happen again. Stop doing this.
I'm not a Vampire or Mardu fan by any means, but I just love Edgar Markov's art. I want one.
Allison said they're doing a tour of vampires… we'll see some from Zendikar and Tarkir? Any prominent vampires there that didn't get cards?
No I think she slipped up and confirmed Kheru Bloodsucker is in the deck, since it is the only Vampire card on Tarkir.

Oh so she may not have been referring to new character cards then, makes sense. Was hoping todays podcast would confirm Runo Stormkirk too. We'll see. Next week is Wizards at least so we'll see who our girl is after all.

As far as I'm concerned this is the final nail in the coffin for these decks the Japanese site was legit. Truely confirms Mardu vampires since Edgar markov is sorin grandpa so obviously WB is involved.
But anyway so the 7th we should see the face and alt commander cards at that time or just the next podcast.

I would like to see Runo as well, but surely his ocean-god-worship hints at a partially blue color identity. So not in this deck.

Yeah she doesn't mention "tour of vampires" in regards to characters but the kinds of vampires we might see, then stops and says something like "I better stop talking or the listeners might figure out what cards are in the deck"....like mention a Tarkir vampire and forgetting we got only one Tarkir vampire card.

I've already got the sense the most expensive decks are going to be wizards and vampires. Just too much flavor in the vampires and wizards has been a long time coming.

That may be true, but "competitive material" is not the main theme for Commander. Big tribal themes are right up Commander's alley of big wacky fun.
