Borderless basic land would be very cool, and while difficult I imagine it would be possible if and only if the lands all combine to form a single picture.

I really hope for this
Would suck to get the steamflogger boss
I get that it's an Un-set and that, from what I can see at least, they're only doing allied color pairs. But the flipping Crossbreed Labs are Selesnya? Seems very Simic to me.
You make the mistake of using Ravnicas Guild System to other worlds.
This is not Ravnica.
Spread the love.
Unfortunately, even the developers seems to stick to the Ravnica theme. It works as an easy escape when they run out of ideas, but the truly creative would not be bond merely by rules of one world.
Before Boros was combat oriented, it was WAR oriented, which involves a lot of spellslinging and mass removal in addition to combat. I miss those days.

Sunforger is probably one of the more interesting Boros cards IMO, and it's a colorless artifact.

I whim for more. Hopefully more creatures focus on spell damage and life gain, Soul-Scar Mage could use some support.
Another possible path Boros could take is a weird kind of reanimation strategy. Red is good at discarding things, and white can "reanimate" creatures, artifacts and even enchantments, especially late-game.

I actually designed a Mardu angel base on damage and reanimation:
Flying
When ~ enters the battlefield, it deals X damage divided as you choose among any number of target creatures and/or players, where X is the number of creature cards in your graveyard.
At the beginning of each end step, if you were dealt damage this turn, return target creature card with converted mana cost equal or less than the damage you took from your graveyard to the battlefield.

I added artifacts and enchantments for a reason. Noncreature artifact and enchantment reanimation is something red and white can actually do better than black.

Ah okay, still though Alesha is what white creature reanimation in the modern color pie tends to do. But that is true they could give more of non-creature animation to white and red.
I always felt like red/white should open up to also be the equipment and aura colors. They tend to be inherently aggro (which is the stereotype for red/white) but can open up other play style and red is more friendly to artifacts now as well as prowess letting it benefit from cast equipment and auras.
Since it looks like Vehicles are moving up to hybrid level or maybe even evergreen, red/white could also be the colors who are friendly towards them.

Boros more or less already *is* the color pair of Equipment—
almost every Boros commander ever printed plays very well with Equipment.
I disagree about Auras, though- Red is supposed to be *****ty with Enchantments,
and I'd rather they not waver on one of Red's *only* weaknesses.
I do very much like the idea of a Soulfire Grand Master commander, though.
Maybe even one that gives all sources you control (including creatures, lands, and planeswalkers) lifelink.
That could be a fun deck.

I'll admit, I wasn't looking forward to this at all, but if contraptions are cool enough, and they add some of the cool and wacky elements I love, like stuff from Hearthstone, that couldn't normally be done in Magic, I might get me some these cards. Getting nice lands and foil tokens is a plus too. I just hope some of those tokens are ones we don't have yet, like the cards from Commander 2013 that don't have any yet.
What I think is a hilarious twist is that since it's on the land sheet there's a good chance that someone will open this instead of a full art land. That makes me laugh so hard!! And I'm sure it'll be me!

It'll be rare enough (assuming 1x per sheet, we're talking ~2.5/case) that you should be able to trade it for a full art land. Remember that if 99% of packs contain a land, and packs are 4 dollars, and this set is going to have a smaller-than-regular-expansion but still reasonable print run...
They said the lands are eternal playable, so they will likely have a border.
I want to say Invocations set enough of a precedent for eternal-playable cards that don't have a traditional border. Worst case, they could include some kind of "black border" indicator like the Invocations have (perhaps at the bottom for the collector's info) and still have the rest of the art extend to the edges of the card.
At the end of the day, I want to say as long as something isn't explicitly silver- or gold-bordered there doesn't have to be any reason it can't be eternal-playable.
Can it be that not all cards will be silver-bordered and the one's that aren't are legal in other formats? Or they will have to extend the banned list to take some of these cards into account?
I would kill for panoramic Avon lands.
