That's a lotta lifegain in Animar. This might actually squeeze into my Commander cube. Really solid ETB trigger, and a fatty that can be cheated out or reanimated and rewards you for playing other fatties that can be cheated out. It's got good overlap with multiple archetypes that can use it.
I guess the only thing is figuring out if anyone would actually pick it...

Check out the thread for my cube if you have the time, and tell me how terrible it is.
Generals meant to be drafted first in a single pack of 6 cards.
And here is the actual cube, meant to be drafted in 4 regular sized packs. (60 card decks)
Very solid uncommon. It also reminds me of Pelakka Wurm, another very solid uncommon, back when I was drafting Rise of the Eldrazi when it first came out.

We drafted Pelakka Wurms so much that it earned a permanent retirement home slot in our cube..love that card.
This card is slightly weaker in that it probably will never gain as much life as the wurm, and doesn't give you a card back when it dies, but Scrying is always nice and it's easier to cast, so there's that.
I once farted during the final match for prizes at an FNM. It was a tense moment, everything was quiet, control vs control, I was about to mana leak, thought about it.. and farted. Then mana leaked.
I just checked my cube. On my first sweep Saffi, Trostani, Mayael, Roon, Sidisi, Animar are all super happy to playing this dude, and it still easily makes the cut for Zagana, Mimeoplasm, Karador, and probably Yeva. (There's also a ton of generals who would play it off an Unexpected Potential but there's usually better options if you're that lucky, I imagine)
I think it's worth testing in my cube.

The life gain depends on how you build your deck, but since it doesn't only care about creatures, you could have a lot more flexibility, and it wouldn't be uncommon to be gaining at least six life.
The Scry 3 clearly isn't as good as drawing a card, but it's definitely a weaker form of card advantage, AND you don't have to wait until the wurm dies to reap the benefit.

It's not any form of card advantage; that's not what the phrase means.
I like the upfront scry more than the death trigger draw, but I also like the guaranteed 7 life on the wurm. Scry 3 is certainly comparable in value to drawing a card. They're pretty close cards.
When I see Healing Salve, I'm often like "Oh girl, I wish I could turn every card into this." Thanks they removed the gain life part, otherwise this would have been broken.
The new ramp spell into this Guy leaves you in a good spot.
I want to make this Mono Green Desert Ramp deck definitely with Servant of the Conduit and all of that jazz. I still hope we get the legendary desert land that makes all the lands deserts.

"The essence of every world, every spell and every thought is power. Nothing else matters, because nothing else exists."
MTGS Wikia Article about "New World Order"
Every time I read a comment about "Well if this card had card draw/trample/haste/indestructible/hexproof/life gain...", I think "You're missing the point." They're armchair developer comments that fail to take into account the card's role in the greater Limited and Standard environment. No, it may not be as good as whatever card you're comparing it to. There's a reason for that. Not every burn spell is Lightning Bolt, nor does it need to be or should be.
PSA to everyone who keeps forgetting about the Reserved List:
You're on a website dedicated to talking about MtG. You're only a few keystrokes away from finding out what cards are on the Reserved List. You're also only a few keystrokes away from finding out why some cards on the Reserved List got foil printings in FtV, as Judge promos, or whatnot, as well as why that won't happen again. Stop doing this.

It's Virtual Card Advantage. You have the same amount of cards before and after, but your likelihood of drawing dead cards decreases.
Please, mill me. Mill my important cards. Mill my lands. Mill it all. Because I will still deal 20 damage before you can mill 45 cards most every time.

Indeed. If you'e playing a 7-drop creature, you probably don't need more land. If you like gaining life and aren't tremendously unlucky, you're probably putting a nonland card on the top of your library, and all the lands to the bottom.
I like this for Maelstrom Wanderer decks. Hit the Sifter on your first cascade and you get to set up the second, probably gaining 7 life in the process.

Limited pick for sure. Those going green will want this.
Standard applications I don't see though. I do like the effect for green, however.
