This spell puts cards in hand, which is very very bad in fast formats. EDH can take advantage of this, but it looks like complete garb for Modern, Legacy and, so far, Standard.

Meh. The fact that it's not "or less" totally ruin the card. (And "different names" is not so hot either.) If you tutor many cards, then their combined mana cost means you can't cast them rapidly. If you go for small CMC, then you can only get 1 or 2.
I'd rather play collected company or chord of calling in modern. I don't think there is a deck in standard that want to durdle this much in green, spend a turn doing nothing and have to build the deck with a glut of same-CMC creatures.
The biggest drawback is the "with different names" clause but I could see casting it for x = 2 then grabbing a couple of mana dorks or decent chump-blockers like Sylvan Advocate and Winding Constrictor (or anything else that is 2/3 or x/4 on the ground).
Oooohhhh, great for weenie Commander decks, especially elves or goblins.
Sadly it isn't. The more weenie, lesser cards it can tutor
Just read that is X cards w/ X cost... well, still in Commander, it's for 4 cmc, get 2 two-drops are for 3, get 3 three-drops. Still not horrible for a green tutor. But if this is being used in a deck w/ 4 or higher cmc, I'd suggest using a "cheat sheet" of what you have in the deck so one can tutor & know right away what to get to get the most use of it.
I like it. X=3 probably will probably net you the most value, but X=2 is decent too. Depending on your deck, X=4 or X=5 could work as well. Performs best in creature-heavy EDH decks and probably won't be played in constructed too much unless there's a instant win combo combo with two creatures at CMC2.
Playing since 1994: Currently MAGS (HomeBrew),Standard & Pauper (Pioneer and Modern are degenerate trash formats)
STOP using "dude/bro" as a pejorative or insult. Grow up.

Whoever is saying that it should say X or less are nuts. That would be way to broken. I applaud wotc for not going that route. Won't break affinity or elves, instead it rewards playing bigger creatures. It's still a very good card that will be used in edh.
In modern, can't you cast it for GG (X = 0) to get a Memnite, an Ornithopter, and a Dryad Arbor? You could build a deck around that.
Well, ideally you'd want those in your opening hand if you were playing some weird green Affinity deck, but it'd at least get more 0-cost creatures out of your deck. If you can swing the mana, Tempered Steel would make that pretty interesting.
Well, if you need a way to get all your elves into your hand, here you go. Seems like this will be an excellent EDH card, though it requires a bit of building around.
Only if your elves cost more than one can you get multiple.
But I agree one hundred per cent that this could be a very fun card.
You guys realize this is absolute garbage in every format, right?
3 mana for 1 1 drop to your hand.
4 mana for 2 2 drops to your hand.
5 mana for 3 3 drops to your hand.
6 mana for 4 4 drops to your hand.
The ONLY situation where that was even close to being okay is if you waste your 5th turn to get 2 decent 3 drops.
If this was into play (or even just ONE of the revealed into play, and the rest to your hand), it would be good.
If this was X or less... it would be playable in EDH, as you could could drop this for 6 mana, and get 4 great cards at various levels.
But this? It teases you, pretending you can run a "toolbox" deck... but you never could with this.

You can search for Selfless Spirit or Duskwatch Recruiter or Spellskite if you already got one of the 2 pieces

I'd be happy to pay 5 for Elvish Harbinger, Elvish Archdruid, and Imperious Perfect too.

You wouldn't be able to get 2 Invasive Species with it. The creatures have to have different names. You could get an Emancipation Angel though.
