Soo... has Wizards all but given up on promoting this set?
Seems like it. This doesn't get me excited to buy a box at all. I wanna finally see Bolas on some damn artwork besides the Invocations and PW art. So all the Gods will have a card drawn the same way (Hazoret's has already been spoiled). We get it.

We really complaining about a 5/4 for 2? Regardless of it dying to removal it's still going to profitably block and swing through most anything they play turns 1-4 unless they're ramping.
goblin dark-dwellers recurs this for a super strong board pressence after a turn 4 wipe.
Any of the expertises can get tons of value off this. kari zev's expertise to snag your dude and drop a 5/4 snake? Heck on turn 5 you can kick a bushwacker and JUST END THE GAME.
Is it LotV or JtMS powerful? No. Is it an above average card if they don't have removal? Sure is. I can think of worse cards to top deck post turn 5.
Dorks and nonland mana sources make this even more bonkers. servant of the conduit and chandra, torch of defiance already see play in the energy shell and both out will let you follow this up wit a rhonas.

What card are you referring too with the "card drawn the same way?"
This card would have been mutch betetr in a format with Elvish Mystic or other 1 mana dork. For now ill reserve judgment over it because i have no idea if this card will be good in Standard.

I could see Modern Zoo playing this card... Budget Goyf... nice card for snapcaster... As for standard, 2 green mana for a 5/4 creature (lands stay tapped for a turn)... I think it'll get played.
I hope the red one is just as good (Burn could enjoy more toys...)
Hmmmm I was kinda expecting some sort of jumbo ramp spell.
This feels like it has the problem of being pretty decent (idek if I'd call that amazing) exactly on turn 2 and then much, much worse afterwards. I don't think I'm a fan.
This one's cheap enough you could play it in addition to another "Last" card. Double 5/4 snakes on turn 4 or Bontu's last reckoning followed up with this on turn 5 wouldn't be awful.
This had always been my thought about Bontu's Last Reckoning that it shouldn't be more than half of a turn... and now there's this.
Two mana, that's a low price, a small amount of lands to stay untapped. Turn two, this is pretty sick in standard. (And limited? totally busted in limited.)
Gee, the last big "cheap" token we had was advent of the wurm, and it costed 4 in two colors. If we had a 1-mana dork, with lands in hand you could play one per turn starting on turn 2...
All y'all new players are spoiled rotten. I've been playing for over two decades. Two decades ago if we got a 5/4 for CC it would cost you half your life and have cumulative upkeep and phasing.
I expected more from a god's last stand. Pathetic. No wonder Bola wins, with pitiful efforts like that from oketra, rhonas, and the gatewatch.
Long live our new god-pharaoh and divine overlord.

If you get this on Turn 2, it's great. Any later turns and it begins to diminish in value.
How does this diminish in value any more than any other creature spell that doesn’t have a ridiculous ETB effect? After turn two this card’s downside becomes less and less relevant. Thus, it improves as the game extends as well as any other big dumb creature. ITS 2 MANA...
Seriously? This Doom Blade argument again? Fatal Push is an amazing card – that doesn’t detract from the efficiency of this card. If you look at this as the worst case scenario – I play Rhonas’s Last Stand on turn 2 while you have 1 mana open. You Fatal Push my snake. I don’t untap turn 3…
You still had to have Push in your hand – had to have the mana open – and you only paid 1 less mana. It’s the same thing if if I pay 4 mana for a creature and you Push it with Revolt…So we are just never supposed to play a ~4 mana creature without an ETB again? Again, this is how we end up with Emrakul…
This card is good – it’s downside is that 2 lands don’t untap on the next turn. Green is THE best color to handle this cycle of downside and this has been the cheapest downside so far. As the game goes on, the downside becomes less and less relevant but a 5/4 creature stays relevant…
What sort of deck would this possibly be good in? Playing it turn 2 in an aggro deck means you're probably just hosed if it gets removed. Midrange certainly doesn't want to take a turn off to drop a relatively fragile beater with no abilities. And trying to get around the drawback by using mana dorks and not tapping your lands just defeats the purpose.
Oh ma Gawd !
How long have i had 2 w8 for a huge 2 Mana Creature that is good.
No lands untap could hurt, but long term you get much more value as opposed to a baer. Just the risk of timeloss.
Another thang:
The Columnist mentioned cards that are good with this one & intentionally stumbled over “hope ten“ a partial name i guess. I hope its a manaelf that produces 1 regular mana & also has the option to exert itself to produce 2 instead.
I know there is that 4 Mana 2/4 Naga Dude that does exactly that, but “hope ten“ needs to be somethin much cheaper.
Its great on turn 1 , but any format that can do that, you can simply play better 2 drops that do the trick without the drawback.
It just doesnt deliver ...
----
Even in standard, its not "terrible", but 4 toughness and Fatal Push etc. dont really help to make it a reliable good 2 drop, as all the other 2 drops in GB or GR offer more synergy for energy or do other stuff, while this is just a big creature with a drawback, doesnt really sound good enough.
As a 5/5 it would at least survive more removal, 4 might just not cut it.
They probably wanted the card to be defeatable with Eternals while still having enough offensive punch to be considered for play.

In his Second 100 days - Yawgmoth's Bargain is unrestricted in Vintage.
What is going to happen in the Next 100 days!!!

Open Fire. Thought it was a Hazoret card. My bad.
Nothing to apologize for, I was just confused. Thanks for clarifying.

Or any bounce spell.
It's way above rate, but being so fragile and essentially having echo 2 at best makes this pretty rough IMO.
I think it's probably not good enough, but I'm not certain.

5/4 Snake . that's what she said.

Bizarrely, Rhonas's Last Stand allows Rhonas to attack or block.
Long live our new god-pharaoh and divine overlord.
Lol, this. I've been playing since Ice Age and yeah.
For crying out loud. It’s a 2 mana spell that makes a 5/4 creature. What is lackluster about that?

This kind of mentality disappoints me to no end. This is how we end up with junk like Emrakul…

BRGKresh the BloodbraidedBRG, A box of lands and ideas.
Modern:
RG Titanshift. A deck made of cards too stupid for EDH.
Retired: Lots. More than I feel you should suffer through or I should type out.
