I'm SO SICK of the "too strong for Standard" argument. It's the new "Dies to removal". We can have a two mana 4/4 with a zillion abilities, but we can't just have Accumulated Knowledge. Makes sense.
That would be cool, but from what I have heard, it will be a scarab. Or just a skeleton thing, quite frankly I have no idea why people are saying it will be a scarab though.

It fits with the "Desert bugs" vibe.
By the way, anyone notice how the Invocation arts for The Locust God and The Scorpion God seem to be connected? Anyone wanna bet that Invocation The Scarab God also has a "walking out of tomb" art?
MTGS Wikia Article about "New World Order"
Every time I read a comment about "Well if this card had card draw/trample/haste/indestructible/hexproof/life gain...", I think "You're missing the point." They're armchair developer comments that fail to take into account the card's role in the greater Limited and Standard environment. No, it may not be as good as whatever card you're comparing it to. There's a reason for that. Not every burn spell is Lightning Bolt, nor does it need to be or should be.
PSA to everyone who keeps forgetting about the Reserved List:
You're on a website dedicated to talking about MtG. You're only a few keystrokes away from finding out what cards are on the Reserved List. You're also only a few keystrokes away from finding out why some cards on the Reserved List got foil printings in FtV, as Judge promos, or whatnot, as well as why that won't happen again. Stop doing this.
That would be cool, but from what I have heard, it will be a scarab. Or just a skeleton thing, quite frankly I have no idea why people are saying it will be a scarab though.
Maybe it has something to do with the fact that it has a scarab-shaped head?
Also scarab is more fitting for the insect theme they're going with regarding the 3 HOU Gods than Frogs or whatever other animals people pick out of the biblical hat.
I know it would have devalued these, but I wished these gods were in the Nicol Bolas Archenemy deck. That and some of the deserts. Just would have been more flavorful. So far I'm liking these. Want to build a Bolas Commander deck now with the UBR deserts and just a bunch of Amonkhet/Hour cards to make it feel like a true Bolas deck. Speaking of which, I wonder if Wizards will make a story themed Commander deck. Maybe Yawgmoth comes back and we get a Phyrexian Commander deck for him (yea right).
That's pretty awesome-
now my Niv-Mizzet deck
can masquerade as something less dangerous.
Also, if they're looking to make these gods "circular,"
the UB one should have an activated ability which creates a creature token,
and a secondary ability something like "whenever a creature etb under your control, put a -1/-1 counter on up to one target creature".
That is scary if that is true and all three are out at once. Also I just simply love the thought process behind it.
Player/Planeswalker: (draws a card at the start of their turn) The Locust God: Ah, you've gained knowledge, allow me to assist you with an army of my design. (creates a locust) The Scarab God: I see you have a minor minion now, allow me to weaken that pest for you. (makes the locust die from -1/-1 counters and feeblness) The Scorpion God: Oh dear, it seems to have died. Here my planeswalker, I offer you knowledge. (Planeswalker/Player draws a card) The Locust God: Ah, you've gained knowledge, allow me to assist you with an army of my design. (creates a locust)
Also I do find it funny how Protection of the Hekma stops the 1/1 locust tokens and if you have four of that enchantment in play, it completely stops The Locust God.
Beck // Call is an instant kill with this card. Insect > Draw > Insect > Draw, etc. It's a may so you can stop before you deck yourself.
Laboratory Maniac: Brilliant! An era of insectoid evolution is upon us!

Yes, Amonkhet is terrorized by the Locust God, the Scorpion God, and the Lice God. Hide your scalps and reach for your shampoo!

It's an instant speed 5/5 trampler for 4. Wtf do you people want seriously? It has applications in populate/ above the curve beats decks, or in Bant control/ flash. I seriously think anyone mad at this card for any reason other than losing an attacker to instant speed wurm, should go home and make their own awesome card game and leave the rest of us alone.
He cost too much. Should've been 3UR. I like how easy it is to swarm with locusts tough. They definitely could've called these tokens "locust" with the creature type Insect.
5 mana for a flying 4/4 with a double bitterblossom attached? That deals damage to your opponent instead of you and scales? And loots? And can't die?
When I see Healing Salve, I'm often like "Oh girl, I wish I could turn every card into this." Thanks they removed the gain life part, otherwise this would have been broken.
I like the idea of replacing Approach of the Second Sun with this in New Perspectives decks. I've seen them draw their entire decks, but like a creature who actually does things if they don't find New Perspectives.
Someone seriously needs to do the EDH / Commander deck challenge and build a commander deck with this guy or the other gods. They are just so good as commanders since they come back to your hand and never get the commander tax if they die.

1. (Ravnica Allegiance): You can't keep a good esper control deck down... Or Wilderness Reclamation... or Gates...
2. (War of the Spark): Guys, I know what we need! We need a cycle of really idiotic flavor text victory cards! Jace's Triumph...
3. (War of the Spark): Lets make the format with control have even more control!
While his swarm loves them, his reanimation effect doesn't like constant wheel effects all that much funnily enough.
You might be forced to recast him over and over and over again to not lose him to his deck.
That doesn't make him bad in any way, but I can see this happen in metas where creatures don't survive for long if you dive too deep into those kind of effects.
I like him still.
I debated on actually making him the commander of my Arjun deck, but I think I will stick with Arjun, and maybe try him leading once or twice just to see.

Prior to them releasing the actual cards I couldn't really make out a head shape from the one picture I had seen. One from archenemy with the scorpion god in the forefront and the other two in the back.

It wasn't that picture that clinched it as the scarab god; it was the HOU Youtube trailer, which showed a brief close-up view of him near the start of the video. Someone even posted a screenshot of it on the previous page of this thread.

I could see cases for Locust in Jeskai and Temur, too. After all, green and white have Parallel Lives and Anointed Procession, and green also has card draw like Shamanic Revelation.
That's probably the point. These Gods are intended to inspire fear and revulsion, unlike the shiny and pretty monocolor Gods.
The Gitrog Monster: *CROAK* (I'D LOVE SOME DESERTS FOR DESSERT!)
It fits with the "Desert bugs" vibe.

Ribbit.

Finally! Takklemaggot get's it's time to shine.
Yeah, not so much Frog looking I guess, I was expecting Frog curse. This could be Lice?
EDIT: Or Scarab I guess! Didn't realize the conversation expanded before the image.
