Amonkhet and Kaladesh were 'big sets', and they each had 53 rares and 15 mythics. Small sets (Aether Revolt, Hour of Devastation) have 42 rares and 12 mythics.
This sheet has 53 rares (each appearing 2x) and 15 mythics (each appearing once). It has the 'typical' number for a large set. Yes, it's true that Ixalan reportedly has more cards (279) than Amonkhet (269) and Kaladesh (264) did, and it might have extra 'rares' and 'mythics' from another sheet (like SoI did from its flip sheet, or Dragon's Maze had from its land sheet). But this is the right number to correspond to the complete set of cards that can appear in the normal rare slot of a booster pack for a large set. The normal mythic+rare sheet of SoI had this distribution too; the extra rares and mythics were on the flip sheet, there were the usual 53R+15M on the nonflip rare sheet.
Are we still talking about this as a conspiracy that WotC did this on purpose? We all know how Wizards feels about this kind of thing, they've said it time and time again how it hurts them. There's no reason for them to do something like this on such a scale.
It's possible the leak was intentional IMO. A leaker is more likely to spoil this with several high quality images that reveals the whole sheet than tease a Planeswalker's ultimate while focusing on a Sorcerous Spyglass. Or favor one complete grainy picture over high quality shot of chase cards. But really, no one can know for sure.
Either way, despite having no interest in Dinosaurs (I'm in the minority) and lukewarm interest in Pirates, I actually like what I manage to see. I think Ixalan may actually be a pretty cool set, and I'm a sucker for exploration themes. It's why I loved Theros and original Zendikar. I think we're getting a similar feel here. Lannery Storm is such a cool name with sick art too. I bet she was caught in a tempest and surviving it made her HBIC.

I'm looking forward to getting dinosaurs for dinosaur tribal
The Dinosaur Legend is very impressive as a commander. I was actually surprised. I like that Ixalan will be such a Timmy set. I don't like when WOTC shys away from high CMC fatties "because standard" but this time, they delivered. I don't know man… Dinosaurs may even grow on me after this set.

Ixalan plus that legend is the reason dinosaurs resurrected into my life
And when I was little I could name rediculious named dinosaurs
I'm looking forward to getting dinosaurs for dinosaur tribal
We are even getting a legend for that.
Yeah, Gishanh, Gishark or whatever his/her name is looks pretty cool.
I'm halfway tempted to build Naya Dinosaurs EDH with them as the Commander,
even though I normally hate that type of deck!
Regisaur Alpha already makes a very nasty companion,
as it gives all the cheated out Dinos haste.
Mayael the Anima would probably also love to come along for the ride.
I could see that card (Gishanh) being worth a decent amount due to casual/EDH demand.
Anything on-color that can cheat out Dinosaurs will only increase that demand,
and I have a vague suspicion the new PW's -4 can do exactly that
(and that her 0: will be "Target Dinosaur you control fights target creature you don't.").

Because we all know not every creature will be tribal I can use her as a alt route of cheating dinosaurs.
Honestly, what is going to hurt sales more for Ixalan is if there isn't anything in it that really catches eternal players attention. HOU has been horrible on that front and even for EDH the set is kind of limited. They also are releasing Iconic Masters right in the thick of things as well as Commander 2017 being practically on top of it. The summer of sets hasn't really gone away it seems. It just sort of moved up a bit.

Hmm not entirely. Hollow One actually has the attention of players in Eternal and Modern. Living End, Madness, some Dredge. Their are cards outside of standard that make Hollow One really easy to bring out.

Commander 2017 is in August followed up by Ixalan in September. Iconic Masters, Goblins Vs Merfolk, Explorers of Ixalan AND FTV Transform share November. October is the Gift Pack. December is Unstable.

Oath and BFZ actually had a lot more than that for EDH thanks to the converge working well in the format along with the ability to use awaken. Also Amonkhet has more in it than HOU as well. On the other hand HOU is a small set, so I'm probably being overly harsh to it.

I thinking you are just being overly critical on the matter. Regardless of format and whatever the new set is, their are card(s) that might have a home in an old or new deck. Besides, next month has 56 new cards tailor-made to commander.

Uh, you mean other than the fact nearly the entire MtGS community has been calling HOU an EDH set? I would source this fact, but honestly I am feeling too lazy to look at a bunch of posts just to prove someone wrong on the internet. HOU is Commander gold, you are being extremely over reactionary and hyper critical.

Actually I'm one of the people calling HOU an edh set. I'm just saying that it isn't one of the best ones out there, which is true.

The problem I'm seeing with Ixalan is with all the rares that have been deciphered, I'm extraordinarily unexcited about that set.
I think Hostage Taker and the fact I already have the dual lands are the only things of interest.
Their version of exciting is an 8 CMC T-rex that library vomits onto the board. More turn over cards and play them for free. yaaaa... aaaa... aaaayyyy. Go design team.

I'm just hoping that iconic masters isn't over priced and is actually good. Standard has been turning into a dumpster fire for over a year and it's going to take a miracle for wizards to recover.

Nope
19 are still not descriped 49 out of 68 are known "Regisaur Alpha" is a example all we got of that one is "you control have haste" of coarse a safe bet is its "dinosaurs you control have haste."
But it has a second ability.
Yeah, I don't get the hate for Ixalan. Cards look amazing. Of course, that could be because I am comparing to the HOU stinkfest, but I'm way more Johnny/Timmy than a Spike, and there are a ton of interesting cards in Ixalan that make me want to brew. That mass Path to Exile is going to be great for control decks, especially if you happen to have a certain bird wizard out when you cast it.

My feeling is neutral on the spoilers due to usually like knowing stuff beforehand hand.
Ofcoarse in hours I still need to get atleast one copy of magus of the crucible while it's cheap which would last a little while. Unless it makes. A huge impact modern or legac Ofcoarse.
If you are planning on getting Ramunap Excavator, do yourself a favor and don't go and try buying it until after release. The prices are going to go down by about 50 cents across the board just from the influx of cards. Unfortunately, I think that HOU will follow a similar path as Eldrich Moon. That means fewer copies of cards out there and the ones everyone will be after will dry up rather quickly. Right now the hottest card in standard is Aether Hub, though. People are nose diving for the card and I got a feeling there's going to be a lot of energy decks running about.

I go and play commander on Fridays and that's set release day tomorrow
So yes I will get it tomorrow so it's 50 cents cheaper.
Heck they even give packs to winners of tables could pull it.
Oh for everybody else
I'm almost positive Star of extinction doesn't equal the dinosaurs are all dying in the first part of ixalan. Besides a chance dinosaurs will end up on the same boat as dragons/demons/hydras and that's if there is a way for it to fit they will make a new dinosaur card.
The dinosaurs legend no need to panic on not enough creatures
A approximate guess from all 475 (from both sets) since WRG are the colors getting dinosaurs 25%-30% should be dinosaur that's 131 cards in the median range
Or to go a bit more precise approximatly 92/279 in "Ixalan" and 39/196 in "rivals of ixalan" again I doubt Star of extinction will mean no dinosaur creature cards in the second set.

There are plenty of cool dino rares and mythics, and I have no doubt there will be role players for the casual dino deck at UC and C too I love Dinosaurs so dang much. Gonna get a box for sure.
