What I keep wondering is how the spoilers for Ixalan will affect Hour of Devastation. For example, we know there is a white grafdigger's cage-esque piece of GY hate in Ixalan. If, for example, there are powerful Chase cards in HOU that involve abilities activated out of the GY, in theory they'd be the cards driving sales of HOU and becoming a big part of the upcoming Standard. But now that we know there will be a strong answer/hoser to those theoretical chase cards just three months away, would it drive down their sales and standard play? Would Aetherworks Marvel sold as well or been as present if we KNEW we were getting Pithing Needle in the very next set?
What is interesting for commander purposes is that the planeswalkers now have a legendary typing.
Really? Why do Planeswalkers have to have "Legendary" added to the type line? There is absolutely no need, and shows inconsistency. I like consistency and symmetry in all of my collection.

This is exactly the crux of any civil case on financial damages that WotC can bring against spoiling things this early. Not only can it change how the spoiled set sells, it can change how any set not fully known will sell.

I've been around Magic Spoilers since Masques Block, but for the life of me I can't remember a precedent for something like this. We've had plenty of leaks of the next set to be released, like the NPH Godbook incident, but have we ever had leaks from a future set farther down the road like this? Leaks from two sets away?
Not going to be paying attention to this. It's not that I care at all about Wizards, it's simply that I enjoy the slow roll out of spoiler season, I enjoy being excited at seeing a few cards at a time. Seeing all the rares now in one block so far away from this set's release just isn't going to do anything for me. To each their own though.

I mean, they would be able to be used as commanders, and it would be important if a planeswalker became a creature (a la Gideon Jura, which actually doesn't become a legendary creature), especially if it somehow became a creature that's no longer a planeswalker.

Well if this is real we won't really know until Wizards explains but my guess is
A) Commander $$$
B) Errata so that you could play different versions of the same walker in decks

You can only use Legendary creatures as commanders, so planeswalkers will still be unable to be commanders unless a rules change is in order.

C) Non-unique planeswalkers. Although the rules could probably already handle that by simply giving them no subtype.
What I'm hoping for is if this means all walkers including ones from the past (excluding the baby Gatewatch and commander 2014) can be commanders in commander now
I still think WOTC themselves did this. YGO has this method all the time. "Leakers" drop information on sets, which we have to translate from Japanese, then 4 months later they're released in the US. Good cards and sets get bought, plain and simple. Seeing Jace on the foil sheet did a lot to pique my interest in this set, where I had written Ixalan off entirely as I have no interest in pirates or dinosaurs (but am happy for those who do).
I honestly can't see anything. It's a blur. I can tell Jace is either shirtless or wearing less clothes. Presumably battered from his loss at the hands of Nicol Bolas. As far as anything else, I'm still in the dark. At least zoom in on the Planeswalkers so we can see their abilities. The rest of the sheet - whatever.
And WOTC should reward the leaker with a position at their company. They've done more good for Ixalan than they have. I was getting fed up with their chit honestly, delaying announcements, being secretive and annoying.

Merely making planeswalkers legendary would not let them be commanders, for the same reason things like Bow of Nylea can't be your commander now - you need a legendary creature , and planeswalkers are non-creature permanents. The 10 planeswalkers that can be commanders now either start out as creatures (Origins flip-walkers) or have a rules exception specifically allowing them to be your commander printed on them.

Can you post your thoughts in the other thread, Tiro? That is where we are having a discussion about this being an internal/intentional leak.

I believe we got the Timeshifted spoiler for Time Spiral almost a year ahead of Time Spiral's release. We didn't know what it was, but we knew that they were not a normal rarity and that they were reprints. So.... there is at least one precedent.
I'm torn. On the one hand, these leaks were clearly the direct result of theft, and their spoiling this far in advance of the set's release -- specifically, right at the start of Hour of Devastation's official previews -- will certainly harm sales of Hour of Devastation.
On the other hand, this set looks to be the most exciting in a VERY long time. I can't look away.
(EDIT FOR CLARITY: Referring to Ixalan as the exciting set)
People really think leaks like this ruin MTG? I hate the inorganic "spoiler season" hype train they use, I've glanced at the sheet and was drawn to a naya legendary dinosaur, now I get to sit and be hype for months on end rather than waiting for CFB or some other site Wizards are in bed with to "spoil" a card.
Personally I think the whole not testing for infinite combos and terrible ban decisions and terrible rotation schedules and terrible 2 block sets, and a super buggy nearly unplayable mtgo is ruining MTG, but maybe seeing things a couple months early is what's ruining it.

They're not legendary. They're just planeswalkers with the same name and appearance. Duh
