It should be obvious now that this leak was 100% done by WotC and done on purpose. Looks like they got the mileage out of it they expected as it's covering up/glossing over the failure that is HOU.
It's fitting Hour of Devastation is abbreviated HOU, b/c Houston, we have a problem!
Just because you think HOU is a failure doesn´t mean that Wizards went and leaked a lot of stuff from another set
I heard tons of cards for Ixalan were purposefully leaked by a third party. Although I got to admit, its relatively tame compared to what I've seen. Like have you seen Rancor_Elf's handiwork? His kind of spoilings puts this to shame.
This isn't the worst leak I've seen. In my time of MTG (circa 2004)the "godbook" leak of NPH. All wizards will do is put out a pr statement. Leaks happen inevitable in this business. They'll just push forward. Also really wish wizards would go back to New Phyrexia.
The spoilers for this set (HOU) have been painfully slow. The one-two card a day spoilers really don't work for me at all. I love it when I can see the full set at once and start seeing how everything plays together. WOTC still thinks their way is better, it's not.

Agree. There should be 5-10 cards spoiled per day, with the minimum being around 5. Land cycles count as a single spoiled card and go from there. I'm interested in knowing what the red exert spell will be, for example, and it may not even be tournament-worthy but here we are, still waiting. Hopefully Ixalan has beefier spoils to keep us sated.

What happened when the god book for New Pyrexia leaked? As I recall, it led to an immediate hype that was greater than anything I've seen wizards conjure up with their marketing campaigns. The reaction was overwhelmingly positive with people falling over each other to congratulate wizards for making a great set that delivered on the promise of New Phyrexia in both form and flavor and to gush about individual cards and mechanics. My main question is did New Phyrexia sell better than Scars or Mirrodin Beseiged, or the Innistrad Block? My impression at the time was that it sold like hotcakes, but actual comparison numbers would be nice.

Onering's 4 simple steps that let you solve any problem with Magic's gameplay
Whether its blue players countering your spells, red players burning you out, or combo, if you have a problem with an aspect of Magic's gameplay, you can fix it!
Step 1: Identify the problem. What aspect of Magic don't you like? Step 2: Find out how others deal with the problem. How do players deal with this aspect of the game when they run into it? Step 3: Do what those players do. Step 4: No more problem. Bonus: You are now better at Magic. Enjoy those extra wins!

They say the sales of New Phyrexia were hurt by the leaks, but I don't believe it. I know hype for the set was quite high and I purchased many cards from that set.

Wizards gets profit from selling of sealed products mostly to stores. Stores by the other hand gets to buy boxes for single sale and for resales. Having a long time for hype and a small time for between release and spoilers do make people to buy more product, as the market is unsure of What is most likely to sell, all prices are raised and due to that, people that wants more from the set Will probably buy more sealed product, competitive players will buy more cards that has potential(as the meta isn't near to be solved) and this Will make stores to open more boxes to meet every demand. The set getting leaked, stores will only get what going to sell, players are less likely to make grambles as the meta will be closer to be solved and not every hard to open card will be chased by stores and scrappers
Yes leaks do hurt sells a bit
Considering 90% of this thread is some kind of legal discussion, has there been any post with better pictures of the cards?
You won't get one, most likely. WotC's leak has run its course.
Instead of looking at what the leak spoiled, look at what it didn't spoil. That will tell you clearly that WotC was behind it.
'WOTC's leak'?!? Why would wizards do this? They would never do something like during the spoilers seasons of an other set, and even if it was not spoiler season I see no reason they would do this. This affects wizards 3rd party partners which they share spoilers with during spoiler season, ect...
Hat feels great and there is no tin or foil involved in its construction, just straight common sense and critical thought. When people "leak" something like an Ixalan set and they are outside of the company making the product, they do not "leak" unclear images, as unclear images serve no purpose to anybody except the company whose property is being "leaked"...unless there is blackmail/ransom involved. Have we heard any evidence of that? Meanwhile, you all got a nice, if unclear, tease of those cool Dinosaurs and Pirates about to invade your gaming tables come Sept., a nice salve for the garbo HOU being released.
What do the Ixalan Planeswalkers do?
Give me the exact wording on all the "new" mechanics.
Ahhh, but you can't, b/c WotC is saving that for when it's time to spoil Ixalan for "reals".
You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make it drink. You can illuminate for the masses, but you can't make them think.

Well... this is laughable.

Have we heard any evidence of that?
If the leaker wanted blackmail or ransom, they did a horrible job giving WotC any incentive because they would be paying to keep 3 cards secret.
Meanwhile, you all got a nice, if unclear, tease of those cool Dinosaurs and Pirates about to invade your gaming tables come Sept., a nice salve for the garbo HOU being released.
Garbage sets still sell. BFZ was a dumpster fire but it's one of the best-selling sets ever. Even if HOU is poorly designed and underpowered, people would still buy it and WotC is quite aware of that.
Leaking cards the day before HOU spoilers start would distract from the hype and hurt their sales of HOU, regardless of how bad the set is. Even if they wanted to compensate for HOU with Ixalan, they would leak cards after HOU was spoiled and released if they didn't want to throw money away.
What do the Ixalan Planeswalkers do?
Small font size is why they can't be read, not because the leaker went out of the way to hide them. One photo spoiled Jace's ultimate, so the leaker clearly wasn't intentionally avoiding planeswalkers. It was the fault of small font size combined with poor photo quality, not a WotC conspiracy.
Give me the exact wording on all the "new" mechanics.
Sure:
Tough - Whenever [cardname] is dealt damage, [effect].
Explore - Reveal the top card of your library. Put that card into your hand if it's a land. Otherwise, put a +1/+1 counter on this creature and put the card back on top or into your graveyard.
If you had done a reasonable amount of research into the leaks before proclaiming a conspiracy, you would already know this.
Ahhh, but you can't, b/c WotC is saving that for when it's time to spoil Ixalan for "reals".
I'm inclined to believe that if all went according to plan, WotC would save all or almost all of the cards and mechanics until spoiler season like they do for literally all other sets when they have a choice in the matter.
You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make it drink. You can illuminate for the masses, but you can't make them think.

You're in over your head and have no idea what you're talking about, which you have already made clear with your obvious ignorance on a topic you act like an expert on. Just do us all a favor and back down before you make more of a fool of yourself than you already have. Thanks.
But yeah, I'm still going to buy stuff from Ixalan because there is some really good stuff in there that I want anyway. Knowing whats in there in advance actually gives me time to make smarter purchases.
I hope this was a WOTC leak. IT's not, we know that the foil sheet is probably out there in the wild, and we know that many big vendors are probably keen to get their hands on it(if they dont have a more detailed list already). So if we see certain buyouts or price spikes before the set is going to be properly released, we'll know wether or not it was a publicty stunt by WOTC.
By how crush hour of devastation is might have Ben wizards doing it on purpose after all.
By the way about that sheet.
I don't see a spinosaurus like creature on it and surely that one will be legit for rare or mythic. (It's the biggest carnivore in the world) and he same can be said for a stegosaurus and a Carnotaurus (but probably not rare nor mythic though.)
I am looking forward to pirates and dinosaurs and it looks like some nice mechanics for limited.
Sadly theres no rare/mythic that looks relevant or potentially expensive, which always is a stinker, as it might turn out like Amonkhet, which simply has no value at all for constructed and without Masterpieces, this is double bad.
----
But if the set is cool, people buy cards. If the set is bad, they dont.
Spoilers wont change anything for that. Nobody i know and sure as hell no myself will buy a set that has no spoilers at all and if the set has nothing i like it wont be bought.
A cycle of Fetchlands and such things helps the overall value tremendously, but they cant really do that every time.
I believe that it's:
3WB
Legendary Creature - Vampire Knight (Mythic)
Vigilance, lifelink
T, Pay 1 life: Destroy target nonland permanent. Activate this ability only during your turn.

The image isn't as unclear as you say it is. Virtually every card has rules text that has been mostly or entirely decoded. See this thread for reference: http://www.mtgsalvation.com/forums/magic-fundamentals/the-rumor-mill/778702-ixalan-name-and-number-crunch

Well technically bolas fans and edh players are getting excited exspecially for the bug gods.
Legal discussion aside, marketing is a complex business and Wizards has every reason to be against anything that undermines their marketing campaign.
Well, you can actually. You have to deprive it of water first, and eventually it will get desperate for water.

This is not The Who,e rare sheet
Here's the fatal mistake you guys made.
There are more rares and mythics in the first set than the second the amount of rares on that sheet that's the approximate ammount for the second set.
I mean from 269 cards in ixalan would this many rares be it that's like 200+ extra cards
There's no way this is all the rares.
