I know very basic Japanese, and from my reading it's:
Nissa's Defeat2G
Sorcery
Destroy target forest, target green enchantment or target green planeswalker.
If the permanent destroyed this way is a Nissa Planeswalker card, Draw a Card
I barely speak Japanese so that'll have to do until someone who knows what they're talking about chimes in.
I could look at other cards and probably narrow it down more, but doesn't seem worth it when we'll have an official translation soon enough
I know very basic Japanese, and from my reading it's either:
Nissa's Defeat2G
Sorcery
Destroy up to 1 target enchantment and up to 1 target planeswalker
OR
Destroy target enchantment or target planeswalker.
If the permanent destroyed this way is a Nissa Planeswalker card, Scry 1.
I barely speak Japanese so that'll have to until someone who knows what they're talking about chimes in.
I believe it has to be green those options to fit the cycle like Jace's defeat can only be used for blue spells
We can make some guesses on the remaining 3 in the cycle now.
RED = 3 damage to target creature/player/planeswalker???
BLACK = Loss of life or sack a creature???
WHITE = exile a permanent or prevent damage???

Hey guys I reread it, it actually DRAWS A CARD if it hits a Nissa Planeswalker.
It also says something about a Forest. It might give the ability to destroy a Forest, an Enchantment, or a Planeswalker.
I'll be honest, I barely ever read Japanese mtg cards so I don't know the conventions, but I don't see the word "green" anywhere on it.[I'm a moron it clearly says green] Then again I dont know what word they even use for "green" and "blue" in Japanese Magic. (Aoi vs. Midori or do they just anglicanize it?)
Not to be on the hate train, but it is good to see them lose. They have done a ton of winning and done so many crazy things that they either only have to sleep it off or nothing happens to them at all. I mean Chandra used an entire plane's mana and barely became tired. At the very least a scar or something can make us see that the damage they take can change how they look or who they are a little.
I don't want them to die, but it is good to see your heroes lose on occasion.

Can you also translate Bolas's sass in the flavour text?

Unfortunately, no. The image is blurry enough and it's been long enough since I studied that there are many characters that I can't read. With the actual card text I could read 2/3 of it and could fill in the blanks by comparing to other cards. Can't really do that with the flavor text unfortunately. The flavor text is in the same form as the Jace one though (i.e. "Nissa, [you suck and are bad]." - Nicol Bolas)
Edit: Took at second look at it, It's something about "This kingdom" is mine and about speaking to something or someone.
How strange it's not a story spotlight. Isn't this really important?
Strangely, there are often cards that show moments in the story without being story spotlights (like Impeccable Timing in Kaladesh and Open Into Wonder in Amonkhet), because for some strange reason they insist on arbitrarily having exactly 5 story spotlights per set.
Nissa's Defeat isn't Bramblecrush like I predicted, but it's close. Plus it's the first three-drop land destruction spell in a long time, isn't it? (Albeit one that only works against green decks, making it a sideboard-only card. It is pretty versatile though.)
Gainsay with an almost pointless additional ability and some super cringey flavour text. Yawn. Can't wait to see the Gatewatch take a less prominent role.
Oh look, the Jaters and Gaters get a cycle of hate cards to wan- celebrate. Unfortunately, most of us saw this coming. Going up against Bolas with no real plan wasn't likely to end well. Even heroes lose sometimes, sadly.
Now I want to see a Triumph cycle in the future where we see the Gatewatch PWN Bolas in a humiliation conga of on-color, in-flavor effects. Maybe even a turnaround of the Defeat cycle?
"Counter target spell. If that spell was a Bolas planeswalker spell, its controller puts the top seven cards of his or her library into his or her graveyard."
"Destroy target creature or planeswalker. If that permanent was a Bolas Planeswalker, its controller loses 7 life."
"~ deals 7 damage to target creature or planeswalker. If that permanent is a Bolas planeswalker, add seven mana in any combination of colors to your mana pool."
"Destroy target noncreature permanent. If that permanent was a Bolas planeswalker, you gain 7 life."
"Exile target nonland permanent. If the exiled card is a Bolas planeswalker card, create seven 1/1 white Soldier creature tokens."

MTGS Wikia Article about "New World Order"
Every time I read a comment about "Well if this card had card draw/trample/haste/indestructible/hexproof/life gain...", I think "You're missing the point." They're armchair developer comments that fail to take into account the card's role in the greater Limited and Standard environment. No, it may not be as good as whatever card you're comparing it to. There's a reason for that. Not every burn spell is Lightning Bolt, nor does it need to be or should be.
PSA to everyone who keeps forgetting about the Reserved List:
You're on a website dedicated to talking about MtG. You're only a few keystrokes away from finding out what cards are on the Reserved List. You're also only a few keystrokes away from finding out why some cards on the Reserved List got foil printings in FtV, as Judge promos, or whatnot, as well as why that won't happen again. Stop doing this.
I wonder if this will be a cycle: one card interacting with each gatewatch member. Yet I really can't see those cards being all detrimental to the members like this one.

Like how Call the Gatewatch sums up all the oath being made, I'd guess their is something like Bolas Endgame that shows him beating the Gatewatch members collectively.

My guess is, Samut will end up seeking Ajani to warn him of the goings on on Amonkhet while the Gatewatch there distract Bolas. Ajani in turn will recruit Samut to help him gather allies against Bolas. Meanwhile the Gatewatch, defeated and scattered, will regroup over the next few sets.

That and Maro already stated they aren't doing cycles like that due to a power level decline after the first card in a cycle is designed through the last card. I.e. 1st is good, 2nd is ok, 3rd is meh, 4th/5th are usually bad and feel forced.
You mean like they aren't making Oaths? Or like they didn't make already a cycle out of Gainsay? You are misrepresenting what he said. He said there is an issue and it applies to a certain problem (Masterpieces) - but he didn't say that the issue stops them from ever going the cycle route. Indeed they have a very good reason to do cycles and this one is neat and justified - mechanically a follow up to an existing cycle, thematically makes sense in the set.
It's not like they discontinued Masterpieces either.

It's looking like this is indeed a cycle, so I guess making 5 spotlight cards just for this might be much?

Yes, you're right, it does, i was mentally shortcutting since the Jace card was a Scry.
Exiling gets around indestructible, is more elegant, and is in white's skill-set.

The answer is "Yes".
Nope they have broken that rule twice already with Oath of the Gatewatch ( Kozilek's Return, Remorseless Punishment, Call the Gatewatch, Bonds of Mortality, Fall of the Titans and Zendikar Resurgent) and Eldritch Moon (Coax from the Blind Eternities, Campaign of Vengeance, Nahiri's Wrath, Emrakul's Influence, Dark Salvation and Imprisoned in the Moon).
Like how Call the Gatewatch sums up all the oath being made, I'd guess their is something like Bolas Endgame that shows him beating the Gatewatch members collectively.

Ixalan is tainted to me The only thing that could save it for me is the art is gonna feature half naked MALE bodies.
It's not important... coz doi~ They'd be still alive post-Amonkhet!
Serious answer, probably coz there are only 5 Story Spotlights per set. (I wonder if that'll change with the new set structure.)
