Top left card (just the bottom border) is apparently new planeswalker version of Jace.
..two tokens that are copies of Jace, XXX Castaway, except they're...
It sounds like Jace is finally making illusions or other sorts of tokens in the game. I recall him making illusions and other creatures while he first visited Zendikar during the Worldwake storyline, but that was in a web-comic. The artwork for Jace's Mindseeker shows him casting an illusion too, but too my knowledge, none of the PW versions of Jace have ever made a token. Perhaps these could be Illusions too?
He has made illusions on several occasions in the story, it's basically his go to if he can't mess with somethings mind.
That's right, he has. In game however, he has never done such. I don't even know if the tokens are illusions either. But it would be interesting to see that being the case.
It's pretty safe to guess that exact wording for Jace's Ultimate is Create two tokens that are copies of Jace, XXX Castaway, except they're not Jace. The not Jace Part is because of the Planeswalker Uniqueness Rule. That's a pretty interesting Ultimate.
It'd be pretty cool if this were the exact wording. There haven't been any printed subversions of the planeswalker uniqueness rule yet, unlike the legend rule (Brothers Yamazaki, Mirror Gallery).
I think the slightly clearer wording would be "except they have no planeswalker type", but yes, definitely cool space for an illusionist that we haven't seen used yet.
So the ultimate would be getting two planeswalkers basically? That's silly as hell and a wacky design space to fill. Thanks, Wizards.

I love the straight up more efficient version of Conspiracy.
I don't understand why they didn't just reuse Gold Tokens - perhaps we will see this interact in a different way but right now it seems super unnecessary. I'm a huge fan of tokens - probably my favorite mechanic to play with (wolf tokens especially). But I really enjoy being able to reuse ones that I already have.
I love Lannery Storm as a name - it's super campy which fits the vibes I'm getting from this set.
Given the fact that the Commander product for this year is tribal focused I like that they are continuing that focus with the cards we are seeing here. Makes the two products feel cohesive.
So if these are legit, with the combination of The Eldrazi leaving standard and a two mana Pithing Needle, do they unban Marvel post-rotation? (FYI I don't have a horse in the matter, just a curiosity question)
So, after the Egyptian plane has become a playground for the GW, the Mesoamerican set becomes the pirate set? Amazing.
They never officially said that Ixalan was a purely Mesoamerican set, IIRC.
Also, Amonkhet was Bolas's playground before the Gatewatch even got there.
That's not the point.
Actually, I think the point is that there still seems to be some people that cannot understand the difference between a fantasy world inspired by a culture vs. a world designed within a culture. It's a fantasy game. Fantasy is derived from what we know and stretched by the imagination. Stop feeling insulted when these sets aren't literal representations...
Some of those rares are godaweful, pay 7 to draw 7.....What's wrong with a card that costs XUUU and draws X+3 cards? I mean even if it was instant it would still be bad.
Not to mention Daring Saboteur looks god awful for a rare....
How do you know its a rare? Its symbol its covered.
because we're looking at a rare sheet
WOTC don't mix rarities on a print sheet iirc
The 5BB spell appears to be a Fact or Fiction-esque board wipe, where one pile is put onto the battlefield under your countrol and the other into their owner's graveyard.

I imagine it's very possible that they may leave it banned. If you're not casting Ulamog with it, you're probably casting some other huge game-warping threat like the new non-PW deck Bolas.

Then let me make my point clearer: Ever since planeswalkers became the focus of the story (even before the Gatewatch), almost every plane we've been introduced to has been their playground to some extent (you have exceptions, of course). The Gatewatch plot just ramped that up even further.
Hopefully by spreading them thin, we get more focus on the plane denizens themselves both in the story and in the cards.
That's pretty close to how I pictured Treasure would work in a Pirate set, only it appears they're now adding T to artifact token activation costs starting with Tezzeret, the Schemer's Etherium Cells (and my Treasure tokens only produced C, not one mana of any color). I'm a little surprised we aren't seeing an action word for Treasure the way we did with Clues.
MTGS Wikia Article about "New World Order"
Every time I read a comment about "Well if this card had card draw/trample/haste/indestructible/hexproof/life gain...", I think "You're missing the point." They're armchair developer comments that fail to take into account the card's role in the greater Limited and Standard environment. No, it may not be as good as whatever card you're comparing it to. There's a reason for that. Not every burn spell is Lightning Bolt, nor does it need to be or should be.
PSA to everyone who keeps forgetting about the Reserved List:
You're on a website dedicated to talking about MtG. You're only a few keystrokes away from finding out what cards are on the Reserved List. You're also only a few keystrokes away from finding out why some cards on the Reserved List got foil printings in FtV, as Judge promos, or whatnot, as well as why that won't happen again. Stop doing this.
Huh. Guess they weren't so firm after all about not printing new Storm cards.

I kinda wish the Treasure tokens did something a bit different than the Etherium Cells, to be honest. Yes, they're close to Gold, which is flavourful, but maybe add a little extra since it's not just Gold that's in treasure chests typically.
Lotus Petal is nice and all, but I like my artifacts to do different things, even if slightly.
How would the PW Uniqueness rule apply to Jace PW copies?
If they don't have the same Jace subtype, you don't have to sac the original Jace to create them. So it really depends on what subtype they get that determines what happens to them.
I actually find this interesting btw, because this is also probably the first instance we'd get of actual planeswalker tokens. In that case, the only permanent types left that don't have tokens (and have no other types) (IIRC) are lands and enchantments.
How would the PW Uniqueness rule apply to Jace PW copies?
There will have to be some way in the tokens to ignore it. That's likely the "except they're not" part of the ultimate that's visible. My assumption is that it will say "they are not Jace planeswalkers" or something similar, because it would be a flavor fail if you couldn't cast new jaces because his illusions were in play.
Maybe they just hate Jace?
That's right, he has. In game however, he has never done such. I don't even know if the tokens are illusions either. But it would be interesting to see that being the case.

XUUU for X+3 cards is grossly overpowered. Compare Stroke of Genius, Blue Sun's Zenith, Mind Spring, Braingeyser, or any other draw X spell.
7 for 7 is fair. Compare Tidings, Opportunity, or Jace's Ingenuity. If it's instant, you're actually getting one or two more cards than you'd expect.
