i do like the huntmaster art... but i do not like making him a her ... especially since the translation in my language makes him a dude anyways, i know ftv gets just printed in english... but still
Hmm, I suppose that's true in English too, come to think of it. Huntmistress of the Fells?

I was thinking the exact same thing. But man, she is absolutely gorgeous! Is it also a Chris Rahn art? I think it is, viewing the style.

I don't see why people think Jace not being on view means he won't be in it? They show three cards up front, was he going to replace Delver, the most iconic card in the set, and have there be 2 of the 3 as flip walkers, or Liliana and have 2 of the 3 be blue, or Huntmaster and have Dimir get all the love? I think he's just not shown because he's not getting new art. I'm not saying that he's definitely in it, although I think he is, I'm just saying that if I got to display 3 cards up front, Jace would not be one of them.

Project Booster Fun makes it less fun to open a booster.
Liking the new art so far. Hope we get a lot of new art; but being double sided we may not get as much (as they have to commission twice the number of art).
For mu Cube, I planned to use my unfoiled Huntmaster as a "checklist" card and the foil FTV for transforming. Seems a bit weird that the guy will transform into a girl huntmaster as well. Perhaps my OC will kick in and trade for 2 lady huntmasters eventually.

Chris Rahn rarely does extremely detailed faces , that's clearly Magali Villeneuve, anyway, i will buy the Huntmaster simply because i like collecting alt art, but i prefer Chris Rahn's original art.

I think I've learned to treat Magic cards like baseball cards: keep 'em in a binder in numerical order, don't play with 'em, try to finish the set and just keep my head down.
I really like that this one incorporates the wolf token.
I really like that they maintained the colors of the card and I really enjoy the clothing and Garuuk style axe.
But, I don't understand why they changed his gender...and frankly, this art as awesome as it is, feels too similar to a color palette swapped Selvala, Heart of the Wilds

Same I always thought it was a bit of a flavor fail that the old art showed the huntmaster with a wolf pelt, looking like a wolf hunter and not a wolf summoner.

My first thought is simply Huntmaster is title and is rather gender neutral (much in the vain of female gods in magic not being called goddess). I don't think its the biggest deal TBH, the art is awesome and not like we haven't seen plenty of female werewolves on Innistrad before.

“There are no weak Jews. I am descended from those who wrestle angels and kill giants. We were chosen by God. You were chosen by a pathetic little man who can't seem to grow a full mustache"
"You can tell how dumb someone is by how they use Mary Sue"
So why is this pre-ordering for 60 usd? The MSRP is 35 dollars from what I can tell.

1. (Ravnica Allegiance): You can't keep a good esper control deck down... Or Wilderness Reclamation... or Gates...
2. (War of the Spark): Guys, I know what we need! We need a cycle of really idiotic flavor text victory cards! Jace's Triumph...
3. (War of the Spark): Lets make the format with control have even more control!
Magic cards are not gendered as a game mechanic. Using new art does not change anything about these nonlegendary creature representations.
Not sure who that is in response to. Nobody is saying that it’s a negative or positive effect on the card. It’s completely neutral which, again, I don’t understand why they did it. As a previous post mentioned, there are plenty of female werewolves already - it’s not like they were underrepresented. Even the planeswalker is female.
Also, I don’t know every art for every card but this is the only card I can think of that has gone through a gender swap - what are the others out there that have done this?
On a final note, I’m very curious as to what her werewolf side will look like! If it’s even half as good as the front I’ll be really excited to buy a copy to go with my current foil Huntmaster
Weird.
I would expect Jace to be where Liliana is.
Does that mean no Jace?
There are three face cards across four colors. I assume the face cards were chosen to be spread across colors (to not imply a severe color imbalance). If they have multiple DFC creature/planeswalker cards from Magic Origins in there, then they will still only choose one representative that is not redundant with another face card.
Not putting Delver of Secrets on the front would be a bold move, since it is the number 1 card that is relevant across multiple formats and springs to mind when talking about DFCs. In fact that card belongs front and center and likely only got edged out for center by another card because presenting the card with the Gatewatch character serves another purpose.
So the question was never "Jace or Liliana?" even if Jace is in there (which I still deem not unlikely). It always was "Jace or Delver?" and that question has an easy answer.
Hmm, I suppose that's true in English too, come to think of it. Huntmistress of the Fells?
Chandra, Pyromistress; Atalya, Samite Mistress; Kiora, Mistress of the Depths; Kor Hookmistress; Markov Blademistress; Narset, Enlightened Mistress; Soulfire Grand Mistress; Wren's Run Packmistress... or maybe just take that occupations and by-names are mostly used as the default catch-all appellation which just happens to not be distinguishable from the male term.
I really like that this one incorporates the wolf token.
Same I always thought it was a bit of a flavor fail that the old art showed the huntmaster with a wolf pelt, looking like a wolf hunter and not a wolf summoner.
I suspect they used to eat the wolves until by selection they increased the fitness of wolves that would bring along a meal worth 2 life gained. Plenty of occassions to make a pelt.
I can't make out the tiny text on the card itself, what are the artist credits for the new Huntmaster?
Magali Villeneuve
I thought that was who it was. She keeps producing like this and she'll be the new Terese Nielsen.
I mean, the art is good, but it's generic good. Terese Nielsen is important because she has a characteristic style. The only newer MTG artist who kinda has that going is Seb McKinnon as far as I can tell. Not to denigrate the art: as an artist myself I can respect the hell out of it. Clearly Magali Villeneuve puts out consistently beautiful work, but stylistically, it's basic MTG.

If I had to take a guess it would be people expecting Jace in this set since Flip Liliana is in here. If this ends up like the last 2-4 FTVs it will just barely be worth the MSRP.
Fingers crossed that they'll include Avacyn and/or Jace still.

Standard practice for small print run products targeted at collectors and sold solely through LGSs. I don't think these things ever sell at MSRP.
