Hey atleast the exspensive cards will get hit hard so it's easier for edh/modern/legacy players to get those cards.
I actually don't know what to expect as to where prices will stabilize given the situation with Hasbro and the Toys R Us Closures. They may do a second run of masters 25 just to try to make as much money as possible. If they were smart it would be better to run masters 2017 again instead of m25, but I don't see that happening.

As I stated before, I am beginning to suspect a lot of WotC's sales numbers for boxed product are based on purchases from large MTG retailers like SCG, who sell a large inventory of singles. I don't think regular customer purchases contribute to WotC's sales as much as it might have 10 years ago. So, even if regular customers don't buy boosters or product, as long as customers buy singles from these retailers, these retailers will keep ordering, which increases WotC's sales numbers.
Suspect? No one buys direct from WOTC do they? Not even retailers - they buy from distributors, who order from WOTC. Obviously the end-consumer demand is what drives all the middleman sales, but there could be some serious lag set to set.
Also - they must have decide on the their print run long before the spoiled the set, right?? And I assume most stores just order-on-announce.
Actually, retailers can, and do, order directly from wizards. It just depends on the product and availablity. My shop orders some things straight from Wizards, some things from our primary distributor. Example: the most recent commander precons and Rivals came straight from wizards, but Ixalan and a few other things came from the distributor.
What a crap Masters set. The inflated MSRP is entirely unjustifiable. Are we to believe that putting a foil in every pack costs them 250% more to produce per pack than normal foil distribution? And are we to believe that they chose the best cards from every set specifically for draft? Because this is a lousier draft than every previous Masters set, and drafting with a set that costs $10 a pack just seems outright stupid unless you have money to burn. Conspiracy is a better draft experience than every Masters set ever was and Conspiracy packs are $4.
I dont know if I'm one to complain often, maybe I am...but the upshift on Chalice. After it was already reprinted at Rare in the 'modern' age, really chaps me.
Just opened a box. First time I ever regretted spending money on the game. Almost all trash. Clique and pact of negotiations were only 2 decent cards. Even missed on commons I was hoping for. Really liked the new brainstorm.

Some of us have been trying to warn others. There are going to be a lot more feel bad boxes out there than feel good boxes. All should keep that in mind. Patience, let the price drop south of 140 USD a box, then think about pulling the trigger in a few months.

Played the lottery with 14 boxes today to get singles for our customers on friday. The variance in this set, at least with those boxes in terms of mythics, was INSANE. 10 master of the wild hunt and 2 prossh stick out the most.
I also took another picture of the three foil mythics these boxes packed, as a little bonus. This might be a very good occasion to show some of you why I might come across as negative or pessimistic sometimes, or why hate I garbage mythics in such products with such a passion... because it's ME who opens this **** all the god damn time!
(Apologies for the bad quality, I forgot to correct a setting for my cam as I took the pics.)
Were Armageddon and Imperial Recruiters in the same boxes? Because you have 8 of each and we also played FNM with one box yesterday and got them.
Also does it mean there were more than 4 mythics per box, excluding folis?

epic fail on my side, there's no way that's 14 boxes, thank you very much for pointing that out. Apparently quite a few empty boxes have been trashed by my colleague and I wasn't aware of it. Should be no less than 24, which makes this rather unimpressive. Lot's of feel bad boxes, still not a fan of this set.
I can't remember if recruiter or armageddon are close to each other tbh.
I'm SO SICK of the "too strong for Standard" argument. It's the new "Dies to removal". We can have a two mana 4/4 with a zillion abilities, but we can't just have Accumulated Knowledge. Makes sense.
Ugh. This set is so bad on so many levels. Now I'm torn about paying $75 for a sealed M25 pPTQ today. On one hand, the set is pure garbage and isn't worth the money, but I also want to support my LGS. After all, they were saddled with this crap.

Just buy up to that 75 dollars in merchandise that is reasonably valued instead. Don't support something you don't want at a price that is ripping you off. Then let the LGS owner nicely know why. When people say Wizards doesn't "owe" us anything, the shoe fits the other foot as well. You don't "owe" them or the LGS anything either. They have to earn your dollar.

Welcome to the club of people who hate upshifted cards. They did this with Snapcaster Mage and Imperial Recruiter. These cards are fine at rare in limited and were only put at mythic because of one of two reasons:
1) The team designing the set for draft didn't have a theme that could fit it, but the set wasn't reaching MSRP so the financial guys forced them to throw it in.
2) The team designing the set for draft had too much value in the set and they decided that the card had to be mythic instead.
Did I mention I hate it when they make a set that is supposed to be about nostalgia, then they make a set that is about drafting and just happens to have old cards in it? I need to get away from this set before I go into a rumination spree again. WoTC needs to start making supplementary booster sets again because there are cards that will never fit into a draft format that need reprinting. I'm going through MTG Gold fish data to figure out the long term trajectory of modern at the moment.

Financially?
$ ->> $$$ is the path.
When cards that dont even see play (Liliana, the Last Hope) decide to climb over $30 because Jund decides to uptick, the whole format is likely spiking.
As someone who's played MTG off and on for just under 25 years, I've never been more disappointed. Just broke 2 boxes of my 4box case and there was ~$50 in the first box and ~$60 in the second box (no port/recruiter/jace; 4 total mythics all under $2)... that's a ~$270 loss. The floor for a $185-$240 product should be no lower than ~$100.
All this after what was the last two Masters sets too. I'm taking a break that's for sure... probably a very long one.
It's an instant speed 5/5 trampler for 4. Wtf do you people want seriously? It has applications in populate/ above the curve beats decks, or in Bant control/ flash. I seriously think anyone mad at this card for any reason other than losing an attacker to instant speed wurm, should go home and make their own awesome card game and leave the rest of us alone.

I'm just watching the devestation on TCGPlayer. The land cycle already bombed below 10 usd per card, everything is going exactly as people were expecting with this, and the uncommons are holding more value than many of the mythics and rares. Those boxes are dropping faster than a rock as well and I'm glad I had cancelled my orders.

I regret buying singles early-ish. I bought 3 Azusas for $16.25 a piece but frankly it looks like next week they'll be 10 bucks. I wish I held back on Pact of Negaitons for $12 a pop considering they may approach $5-7 at this rate. I should have been patient.

Thank heavens I didn't get animar yet
$17 before now $13
Going to wait and see if I get lucky on easter
Sigh, making me feel worse for getting impatient. My friends told me the best time to buy is right now, but I remember Mana Drain dropping to its lowest 2 weeks after release, not the day of, actually. There is a point though where prices will begin rebounding, though. Cryptic Command for example dropped to ~15.50 and then doubled almost instantly.
When cards that dont even see play (Liliana, the Last Hope) decide to climb over $30 because Jund decides to uptick, the whole format is likely spiking.
Well, at least that one tracks. It's a mythic from a small set that's played a small amount in Modern but also seeing quite a lot of play in Legacy. Every Grixis Delver runs at least 1 and they're something like a quarter of the meta right now.

I haven't seen things like this before as I'm only a year back into Magic after 15 years away or so. But how long does the price devastation happen at TCG before bigger places like StarCity, Card Kingdom, etc adjust? Recruiter is what, $45 at TCG now for N/M but still $75 and $70 at Star and CK respectively.
Usually Card Kingdom and big box opening places like Channel Fireball don't adjust prices in response to TCGPlayer competition early on because they know the price dip is temporary on many cards and can just wait it out until the prices stabilize. The trouble is that I think a lot of the cards are going to stabilize lower than what some people are predicting. Rudy was thinking 10 per filter land, but I'm saying more like 8-9 dollars because no one really needs them. They are basically just an over-priced dead card that will only have minor EDH demand.
